Opening Remarks

We proudly submit the attached materials for your review, as we seek to be honored with the Alumni Chapter Award of Distinction.

Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter has continued its history of active engagement within the Fraternity and community and exemplifies what it means to remain active as a brother, beyond the undergraduate years. Lambda Tau is comprised of alumni, who despite their familial and professional responsibilities, make time to further the mission of Lambda Theta Phi, as evidenced by the contributions of our Chapter to our community and brotherhood. The many activities we have sponsored and supported, are a testament of the direct impact our work has in our community. An impact recently recognized by elected officials, in the City of Camden, NJ, who honored our Chapter with two Proclamations.

In closing, we are extremely proud of our work and hope you will acknowledge our contributions and accomplishments with the Lambda Theta Phi Alumni Chapter Award of Distinction.

Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter is guided by the CREED which we have broken down into six segments: Unity & Brotherhood, Identity and Equality, Scholarship, Chivalry, Culture and Service.

These principles serve as our guiding North Compass, directing our efforts and course of action. Unity forms the foundation of our brotherhood, ensuring unwavering support for each brother. Brotherhood fosters a sense of belonging to each other and something larger. We are committing to positively promoting and advancing our Brotherhood and the Latino culture. Promoting Scholarship feeds the next generation of leaders. Chivalry acts as our moral compass, steering us with principles of integrity and respect. Service is the true north of our mission, motivating us to make a positive impact in our community through giving back. B&B: Brothers and Bourbon

10-7-23: Social Event

Our 3rd annual "Brothers and Bourbon" Night, was held on October 7, 2023. This event holds significant importance as it serves as a pivotal moment for socializing and fostering unity among brothers. New and old alumni alike take time to bond over good spirits, BBQ, cigars and dominoes. It is a wonderful opportunity to share memories and make new ones.

Brown & White Softball Game & New Alumni BBQ

4-27-24: Social Event

On April 27, 2024, the brothers of Lambda Tau together with NJS3, hosted the first ever "Brown & White Softball Game & New Alumni BBQ"; a social bonding event for brothers throughout the area. Brothers, loved ones and interested men were all welcomed to attend, play and enjoy some BBQ. It was a day of unity and connection, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood throughout the sector between Alumni and Undergraduate Brothers.

Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter's logo, meticulously designed by brothers through thorough discussion and deliberation, embodies our identity as Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc. The FIRST Latin fraternity in the United States, established on December 1, 1975, at Kean College in Union, New Jersey. It signifies our unwavering commitment to Brotherhood, Unity, and Strength, while honoring the Professionalism instilled by our Founding and Fraternal Fathers.

This platform serves as a hub for showcasing our dedication to Lambda Theta Phi's values and provides valuable information about our chapter's activities and opportunities for prospective members.

2023 Coquito Fest

12-9-23: Fundraising, Bonding, Marketing and Recruitment

The 4th Annual COQUITO FEST, was not only a successful community event but also an invaluable opportunity for brothers to bond alongside their families. With over 300 tickets sold and approximately $10k in gross proceeds ($6k net), this gathering brought together brothers from across the region and state, along with their loved ones, for an evening of bonding and celebration.

In addition to strengthening fraternal bonds, COQUITO FEST served as a platform to promote the LAMBDA THETA PHI brand to the wider community, political figures, and potential new members. Brothers eagerly volunteered at the event, embodying our commitment to service and engagement while showcasing the values of our fraternity to all attendees.

Families and community residents alike enjoyed an unforgettable experience, complete with a Coquito Contest, Live Latin Band, DJ, buffet dinner, and Wine Bar. This inclusive atmosphere fostered connections and created lasting memories for all who attended.

Overall, our 4th COQUITO FEST was a testament to the strength of our brotherhood and the positive impact we strive to make in our community. By bringing together brothers and their families, we reinforced the bonds of unity and camaraderie while sharing the values of LAMBDA THETA PHI with all who joined us for this special occasion.

Among them: scholarships for deserving students, care packages to Brothers serving overseas, food for our "1st Responder's Appreciation Day", gifts for graduating undergrads, etc. Additionally, proceeds contribute to funding various community give-back programs, including local outreach efforts and charitable projects. These initiatives ensure that the funds raised during the event have a direct and meaningful impact on the community.

Greek 101 - Meet the Greeks

2-29-24: Rho Chapter Revival Efforts

On February 29, 2024, we supported the efforts of the sector, regional and national board's to re-establish Rho Chapter at West Chester University. At the Meet the Greeks (Greek 101) event, the brothers actively participated by hosting a recruitment table. Their presence aimed to engage and recruit potential interested members for the reestablishment of the chapter. Through their involvement, the brothers contributed to the fraternity's mission of expanding its presence and fostering brotherhood within the university community.

City of Camden Recognition

4-9-24: Mayor of Camden and City Council

On April 9, 2024, at a public City Council Meeting, the Brothers were honored by both the Mayor of Camden, Honorable Vic Carstarphen, and City Council President Angel Fuentes. They were recognized for the profound impact Lambda Theta Phi has had on the City of Camden since their founding. During the meeting, the Mayor presented the Brothers with a Proclamation, and the City Council issued a Resolution, acknowledging and commending their dedication to serving the community. The standing ovation from everyone present in the City Council chambers further underscored the significance of their contributions and the positive change they have brought to Camden.

At the Immigrant Student Summit on December 7, 2023, Lambda Tau Alumni

Chapter brothers participated in a Career Pathways Panels. They addressed firstgeneration immigrant high school students applying to colleges nationwide, sharing their personal experiences as first-generation students and immigrants navigating and successfully completing college. They highlighted the impact and support of the brotherhood on their journeys.

FAFSA NIGHT

2-26-24: Camden Promise Charter School

On February 26, 2024, Camden Promise Charter School hosted a FAFSA night to assist high school students in beginning and completing the application process. Brothers actively participated in the event by providing outreach support. They greeted counselors and students, offering guidance and assistance throughout the process including translation services when needed. Additionally, the brothers shared their college experiences with the high school students, providing practical insights and encouragement. Their involvement demonstrated their commitment to supporting educational opportunities to all and empowering future generations.

Youth Symposium

3-29-24: Rowan University

On March 29, 2024, our Brothers participated in the Youth Symposium hosted by Rowan University alongside Black Greek Lettered organizations. This symposium provided a platform for meaningful discussions and activities aimed at empowering youth. The brothers actively engaged in the event, contributing their perspectives and insights to the conversations. Through their participation, they demonstrated their commitment to community engagement and youth development, aligning with the values of both their fraternity and the broader Greek community.

Demystifying Career Paths

3-15-24: Pennsauken High School

On March 15, 2024, the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter, joined forces with the Sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc., Alpha Alpha Gamma Alumnae Chapter for the "Demystifying Career Paths" presentation/panel discussion at Pennsauken High School. Together, they spoke to students about their career paths and the education needed to achieve their goals. This event provided students with practical insights into various professions and the opportunity to connect with individuals who share similar backgrounds. Through their collaboration, the brothers and sisters showed their commitment to supporting and inspiring the next generation of academic and professional leaders.

24: Susana Rivera Elementary Puerto Rico

the Rivera-Nueva Elementary in Coamo, PR. The school serves 383 students in grades K-5. The brothers hosted a Read and Feed event, where they read school books to the children and spoke to them about the importance of education. Through this initiative, the brothers aimed to encourage a love for reading and emphasize the value of education in the students' lives. Their engagement with the students reflected their commitment to supporting educational initiatives and inspiring young minds.

4-27-24: Rowan Upward Bound Program ELL’s

On April 27th, Brother Jose Brito was honored to be invited as a guest speaker to the closing ceremony of the Rowan University Upward Bound English Language Learners (ELLs) program. Having been a former student of Upward Bound ELLs himself, he shared his personal journey, highlighting his academic and professional achievements, and spoke about the significant impact the program had on his life.

Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter established two scholarship funds, each valued at $500, in alignment with our commitment to promoting scholarship, one of our foundations of success. One scholarship supports existing undergraduate brothers who are enrolled in our sector. The other scholarship is designated for a Latino high school senior within our sector. We recently awarded these scholarships to two deserving recipients: Juan Vargas-Elvira, our brother from Kutztown University, and Raphael Santiago from Pennsauken High School. It is our sincere hope to continue providing support to our brothers and aspiring scholars as they pursue their educational goals.

On September 30, 2023, the Latino Greek community as the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi and Sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha co-sponsored a unity event. This event, aimed at fostering camaraderie and connection, featured flag football games and opportunities for congregation, with over 30 brothers and sisters participating. This collaborative effort showcased the solidarity and unity within the Latino Greek community, strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories for all involved.

8-20-23: Movimento TriColor-Dominican Restoration Day

On August 20, 2023, the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter, lived by their motto 'En la Unión Está la Fuerza' (In unity, there is strength) as they actively participated in setting up and supporting a community event. The fraternity has been involved in Movimiento Tricolor's Dominican Restoration Day since its inaugural event in August 14, 2020. The event consistently attracts over 300 attendees annually. The brothers' commitment to the event reflects their dedication to community service and solidarity, embodying the values of unity and empowerment.

LATINO FESTIVAL

9-23-23: Atlantic City, NJ

The Atlantic City Latino Festival not only celebrated Hispanic culture but also served as a platform for brothers to showcase their commitment to service and unity. By Actively participating in setting up the event and volunteering throughout the day, the brothers exemplified the values of brotherhood. This annual festival, drawing around 7,000 attendees, provided an avenue for the fraternity to connect with the community and potential new members.

Salsa Lesson Night

10-10-23: Temple University

On October 10, 2023, Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter demonstrated their commitment to "Respect Culture" by supporting Alpha Rho Chapter's (Temple University) "Salsa Night".

Fraternity members shared their expertise and passion for Latin culture with 30 enthusiastic Temple students. This collaborative effort not only celebrated the vibrant rhythms of salsa but also strengthened the bond between the two chapters and the sector at large, fostering unity and mutual support within the brotherhood.

Hispanic Heritage Month

11-1-23: Camden County Tech High School

On November 1, 2023, during Hispanic Heritage Month, Brothers supported and participated in an engaging event at Camden County Tech in Pennsauken, NJ. The highlight of the event was salsa lessons provided by Brothers with over 30 enthusiastic participants. This initiative not only celebrated Hispanic culture but also provided an opportunity for cultural exchange and learning, embodying the spirit of unity and community engagement.

2-17-24: Movimento TriColor-Banquet

On February 17, 2024, Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter attended and supported the Dominican Independence Day banquet hosted by Movimiento Tricolor. Over 250 participants attended the event, which celebrated cultural heritage and community unity. Our continued involvement reflects our dedication to community service and solidarity, embodying the fraternity's values of unity and empowerment.

Salsa Lesson Night #2

2-27-24: Temple University

Brothers once again demonstrated their commitment to "Respect Culture" by supporting Alpha Rho Chapter's (Temple University) "Salsa Night" #2. The fraternity members shared their expertise and passion for Latin culture with 20 enthusiastic Temple students. This collaborative effort continues to showcase the vibrant rhythms of salsa as well as the bond between the two chapters and the sector at alrge, fostering unity and mutual support within the brotherhood.

4-18-24: Rho Chapter Revival Efforts

In their continued efforts to help revive Rho Chapter (West Chester University), Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter collaborated with the Sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc, Pi Chapter, and held the "Salsa with the Lambdas" event. Over 40 enthusiastic students attended and actively participated in dancing. This collaboration between the two Greek organizations not only provided an opportunity for cultural exchange and enjoyment but also demonstrated the strong bond and unity within the Greek community. Through their involvement, the brothers contributed to creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, enriching the experience for all participants and taking another step in the revival of one of our oldest chapters.

FIRST RESPONDERS 9-9-23: APPRECIATION EVENT

On September 9th (the Saturday closest to the anniversary of 9/11), Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter, organized the 3rd annual "1st Responder's Appreciation Day" to honor our local heroes. Brothers delivered hoagies and water to the first responders within Camden City, expressing appreciation for their dedicated service.

On November 11, 2023, & April 27, 2024 the Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter, demonstrated their commitment to the service of God and humanity by preparing and mailing military care packages. This initiative is aimed at supporting and uplifting fellow brothers who are serving overseas in the military. Through the thoughtful assembly of care packages, the brothers expressed their gratitude and solidarity with their brothers in uniform, embodying the values of service, compassion, and brotherhood

THANKSGIVING BASKETS

11-18-23: Parents Invincible

On November 18, 2023, the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc.,

Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter, partnered with Parents Invincible, a nonprofit organization, to support a Thanksgiving basket event for residents of Camden. Over 500 families received food for Thanksgiving meals, ensuring they would have a warm, healthy meal with dignity. The brothers helped set up, load food, and distribute meals, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the local community.

12-2-23: The Block Gives Back

The Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Lambda Tau Alumni Chapter, participated in a community service event in North Philadelphia. They supported initiatives to provide meals to over 300 families and contributed to a neighborhood clean-up effort. www.theblockgivesback.org

Lambda Tau Chapter's participation in "Los Hijos Ausentes De Jarabacoa" involves fundraising and donating to support the delivery of essential goods to the Dominican Republic. Brother Jose Espino helps lead this international effort, contributing to the distribution of food & supplies to some of the most needy residents of the country. The Chapter's involvement demonstrates the fraternity's commitment to community service and making a positive impact beyond borders.

Parents Invincible

On March 24, 2024, the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Lambda Tau Chapter, assisted and supported in Parents Invincibles' event called "A Day for Bunnies" in Camden. This Easter egg event aimed to provide a fun day for residents, particularly children. Over 900 families registered and participated in the event and had the chance to meet the Easter bunny! Additionally, families had access to information and resources through various tables set up throughout. Their involvement, not only supported the community but contributed to the success of the event as well.

4-5-24: Food Prep for Cathedral Kitchen

On April 5, 2024, the brothers gathered to make over 500 sandwiches (peanut butter/jelly and bologna/cheese), for delivery to the Camden Cathedral Kitchen. This annual program serves to feed the homeless in Camden, NJ, showcasing the brothers' dedication to community service. The event also strengthens brotherhood bonds as the brothers work together for a meaningful cause. Through their efforts, they make a real impact on the lives of those in need while promoting values of compassion and unity.
