TENDING THE HEARTH: WORK

Throughout human history, humans have embodied entrepreneurship. Our survival and prosperity hinged on our own ingenuity and labor, dictated by nature's rhythms and the collective efforts of families and communities.

During the Agrarian Era, our homes were sites of production. Men tended to farming, animal husbandry, woodworking, and blacksmithing, while women produced food, textiles, and crafts, contributing to a vibrant cottage economy.

Our homes also functioned as centers of education, where skills and knowledge were imparted from one generation to the next, equipping them with the means to support their future families.

Although HOME and HEARTH are no longer the epicenters of our work lives, the Information Age presents a unique opportunity to reintegrate work into our domestic environments.
