Welcome to the new, SoCo Insider!
Colorado Media Group (CMG) is an omni-media distribution company reaching B2B and B2C audiences for NORTH, S Colorado Business Digest/CSBJ, SoCo Insider, two radio programs and The Business Insider on Fox21. Combined, these properties reach nearly a million Coloradans. using print/digital publishing, web, social, radio, television, streaming formats, and soon, mobile Apps.
The company has carefully studied the region’s media landscape and has taken the initiative to meet various audiences where they are. Additionally, CMG has taken historically prominent outlets and has repositioned each of them to address and fill a massive gap in the regional market:
At it’s very core and foundation, SoCo Insider (formerly the COS Independent or Indy), will serve as a community binder and economic development tool by creating interest, awareness and engagement in the fun, interesting and exclusive assets that make up this region using relevant and honest story-lines.
• SoCo Insider will focus on the following:
o The Arts, Hospitality, Entertainment, and Culture scenes (as economic drivers)
o Food and beverage (culinary), sporting events, community events, galleries, attractions and destinations (also as economic drivers)
o In-depth, compelling features about local and regional artist, event organizer, and luminaries in these categories
o Travel: in-state, border state, and local tourism (economic driver)
o Robust event calendar in partnership w/Peak Radar and other outlets (The Arts)
o Colorado lifestyle, fashion, automotive, housing, retail items, technology, living spaces, relationships, gaming, 501c3s/charitable organizations, and more…
o Ethnic events (i.e. ¡La Vida!, etc), City-wide topic features
o Outdoor life
o Continuing education and opportunities in the arts
o Services and resources for those in need of support
We will likely see ancillary inclusions such as work opportunities, job fairs, recipes (food & drink), critical reviews by experts, outdoor life, pets, and other topics that fit within our editorial matrix.
The new, SoCo Insider will not be resuming on a number of editorial components associated with the former COS Indy:
• Political, ideological features posing as news (we will feature candidates as an all-inclusive feature, but not single out one political figure over others)
• Editorial hit pieces or heavy opinion pieces on community events, storylines, conflicts, etc.
• Excessively long features: Stories will range in length from short blurbs to 700 word articles and a few longer pieces. Gone are the 3000 word diatribes
• Anti-development sentiment
• Pandering to hostile agendas and groups (excessive, harmful counter culture movements, hyper political rhetoric, etc.)
