Healing ManorHotel

Healing Manor Hotel is a beautiful 37-bedroom manor house situated on the outskirts of Grimsby, on the edge of the picturesque Lincolnshire Wolds.

Renowned for being one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the county, the former Portman family residence boasts two large function rooms, each with its own unique style, and 36 acres of stunning gardens to provide the perfect backdrop to those breath-taking wedding photographs.

There’s also The Portman restaurant and the informal village pub, The Pig & Whistle.

Healing village is home to two churches, one of which is located less than 100m from the main manor house. If you prefer a Civil Ceremony, there is the Barn, and Humanist Ceremonies can be celebrated in and around the grounds, so whatever your personal style, Healing Manor has the ideal backdrop for your special day.

You will have a dedicated Wedding Coordinator to take away the stresses and strains of organisation, making sure your wedding day runs with meticulous efficiency. So from your initial enquiry right through the your big day, when our Team will be on hand to run your wedding and serve your guests, you can enjoy total peace of mind.

Civil Ceremonies

& Healing Church

Civil Ceremonies can be held in the Barn while couples wishing for a more traditional and religious blessing, Healing Church is less than 100m away from the main manor house and barn. If a country wedding is your style, picture yourself walking from church to Healing Manor Hotel with your guests on a sunny day.

Beautiful Grounds

With 36 acres of beautiful grounds, a moated island, woodland, a willow draped lake and landscaped gardens, Healing Manor provides the ideal backdrop for celebrating your special day. The moated island is the perfect spot for any couple who wish to share their vows informally with a Humanist Ceremony.

THE Barn

While the local church is less than 100m away from the front of the barn, the original section of the building has been restored with York flagstone and is the perfect setting for a civil ceremony. The space also converts perfectly into a dance floor to party the night away in the evening.

The Barn at Healing Manor Hotel is an exclusive part of the hotel’s grounds with idyllic gardens and its own stunning willow-draped pond. It boasts a private, rustic fully stocked bar and seats up to 120 daytime guests and 150 evening guests.

Tipi Wedding PLANNING TIPS

There are so many options when it comes to hosting your perfect tipi wedding. You can light up your tipi by our moated island and lake after your humanist blessing within the grounds, or or you can celebrate your Civil Ceremony in either our Barn or Cadogan Suite, before heading over to the island for your reception. Tipis provide a versatile choice that can be customised for any wedding theme.

Most Brides & Grooms that we meet have already anticipated the chance of rain, no matter what month they’re getting married in. Tipis are waterproof and can even stand the test of snow, but it’s always a good idea to take into consideration additional cover for any outdoor activities, and heating for when the temperature drops come the evening.

Planning

AN INTIMATE WEDDING

From the decor to the dress and everything in between, an intimate affair often opens up many avenues that simply aren’t an option when hundreds of people are in question. Compromise need not come into consideration.

Faye, from Wild Calligraphy: “An intimate wedding, to me, doesn’t mean a wedding party of less than ten. To me it’s about only having the people you want there. More time to spend with the people you really care about. I would encourage couples to make a list of priorities – one for each partner. Once you have that list you can review what’s a joint priority and what extras you could get should the budget allow. At my own wedding I was desperate for a harpist. I’d heard ‘Halo’ by Beyonce on the harp on YouTube and had been dreaming about it for years.

Faye: “Choosing the harp meant we couldn’t

afford a videographer, but we were happy with the compromise. Weddings can get very silly in terms of budgets so anything you can do to cut costs really does help. What you don’t want to do is skimp on suppliers and have details embedded into the day that you don’t love.”

When it comes to food, you really can be as adventurous, decadent or easy-going as you like – as is the beauty of smaller guest numbers. Sharing platters are a fantastic option to keep the intimate theme going, with each and every guest picking and choosing what they fancy from a bountiful spread in the centre of the table. That said, if you’re hoping to achieve a level of opulence and indulgence with your smaller wedding then a seven-course tasting menu with wine paired to each course is a wonderful way to really surprise and delight your guests.

Wedding FOOD TRENDS

Whilst a traditional sit down 3 course wedding breakfast is still a popular choice for the main affair, brides and grooms are now opting for a more personalised feast, after all food is such a personal thing and comes down to taste and preference.

If you’re the kind of couple that want to steer away from too many formalities and your wedding venue lends its self to some outside space, swap out your starter for canapés and drinks. Anywhere between 3-5 canapés will

keep your guests hunger pangs away but will allow you all to enjoy a little more mingling before taking your seats for the formalities of your big day.

Food stations are changing the way our evening guests dine. Whilst in theory, a food station is pretty much the same concept as a buffet, they’re more akin to a theme, making a great tasty and visual impact when it comes to evening dining.

HOW TO YOURScent Wedding

For most Brides & Grooms, it’s a case of pulling out your ultimate go-to and feel-good perfume or aftershave. For others, it’s the experience of shopping for a new fragrance, that you’ll forever remember as being your wedding day perfume and only wear for special occasions in the future.

Charlotte Bennett: “An hour before our wedding ceremony, Kerrie & Kirsty from our team lit all of the candles to ensure that there was enough time for them to fill such a large space with a noticeable scent. It wasn’t until they opened the curtains for me to walk down the aisle that I realised how much of an impact scent had on our ceremony. A place that I call work and home, was transformed into the most magical setting, and now every time I light one of the candles we had burning on our wedding day, it takes me back to 1st February.”

Pet Big Day IN YOUR HOW TO INCLUDE YOUR

Whilst some venues have a strict no-pet policy, here at Healing Manor and in our beautiful Wedding Barn, we welcome your furry friends with open arms. Here’s our top tips for including your beloved pet in yours and your future Mr or Mrs big day.

Whether you’re planning on your horse carting you to your ceremony, or your four-legged pooch playing ring bearer, ensure that you’ve pre warned your Registrar and venue before saying

your “I do’s”. Some Registrars don’t like animals, so it’s always best to have a chat as soon as you can, just to cross all of the ‘t’s’ and dot all of the ‘i’s’.

Whilst you might be carrying a tin of Lily’s in your clutch, alongside poo bags and a ball or two, speak to us about supplying something a little bit more special for your beloved pet and dog friendly wedding.
