Part 1

You receive a call from a parent reporting a disclosure that her child made to her regarding another child in her class. Her daughter reported that her friend had said that her dad hit her because she did not know her times tables.

The parent has asked that her daughter ’s name be kept out of all investigations as she did not want the two girls to fall out.

How would you investigate this?

Part 2 As it is written, social services would not regard this as a safeguarding concern.

However with the addition of two further pieces of information it became one. What do you think would turn this situation into a referral to social services?
