Google Classroom in the Juniors.

Google Classroom is used across Juniors almost as a virtual classroom. It allows students to work seamlessly between home and school. All lessons are posted and arranged by subject meaning students have access to their tasks across a range of devices. Teachers are able to post announcements onto their Class Stream keeping their students up to date with any news. Being able to comment on announcements means that students' queries are easily answered.

Using Google Classroom as a teaching tool enables teachers to monitor students' work as they are able to share the Google Doc or Google Slide that they are working on. Staff can offer suggestions or use the shared doc to create a group write.

Once turned in Google Classroom enables teachers to comment upon work, highlighting sections in pink that have attained the Learning Objective and those in green that need improving. Suggestions can be made on the work and students are able to respond to these in real time. Feedback and assessment can be done during the lesson allowing teachers to address misconceptions early.

Google Classroom makes feedback and assessment relevant and engaging for students. It allows them to respond to teacher comments and take ownership of their work. It serves as central space for them to share ideas and comments and work collaboratively upon projects.

If you use Google Classroom in any other way please can you get in touch so that we can share ideas throughout the school.
