A joint meeting of the Business Education Partnership Committee and the Bluffton Regional Business Council has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, from 12:30 –2:00 at the Hilton Garden Inn. A box lunch will be provided. At this joint meeting we will kick off our Internships initiative. (See attachment entitled Chamber Internship Program) Amanda Williams, Head of School for the Heritage Academy, has agreed to be our guest speaker. All directors are invited to attend.

MEMBERSHIP
NEW MEMBERS – Ten members applied for membership in the chamber during the month of November resulting in new revenue of $9,320.00.
DROPPED MEMBERS - Sixteen members were dropped from membership during the month of November resulting in lost revenue of $10,041.00.

Leadership Hilton Head Island-Bluffton experienced their Education Day at the following locations: USCB Bluffton Campus, the Culinary Institute of the South, and Hilton Head Christian Academy. Speakers included Beaufort-Jasper ACE, USCB, Beaufort County School District, TCL, Hilton Head Christian Academy, HH Prep, John Paul II, and homeschooling.

PUBLIC POLICY
The first meeting of the year for the Public Policy Committee will be held on Thursday, March 9, from 8:30 – 9:30 in the Chamber executive boardroom. Future meetings will be held monthly on the second Thursday of the month, at the same time and place. All directors are invited to attend. During the first meeting we will decide on the Chamber’s Legislative Priorities to forward to the Chamber Board for consideration.

SC Governor’s Conference
• Considered the largest annual gathering of the South Carolina tourism industry, the Governor’s Conference offers sessions on emerging consumer trends and tourism marketing strategy to help SCPRT and the industry grow tourism. Its sessions are often led by top economists, marketers, social media practitioners and public relations professionals. At least one session gives an update on the state of tourism in South Carolina.
