Scroll of Life Edith Magnolia Wright Lewis Edith Magnolia Wright Lewis was born April 12, 1927 and went to be with her Lord on March 20, 2018 at the age of 90. Born in Sylvania, Ga and raised by the late Israel and Rebecca Wright. Predeceased by John W. Lewis her loving husband for over 46 years.

She graduated from Savannah State with her Education Degree. She was a faithful member of First Samuel Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family, and western shows. She will be remembered for her wisdom and loving spirit.

Edith leaves to cherish her loving memory . Thomasena Merriman, H. Diane Gardner, Kenneth Lewis (Debra), Eddie Joe Lewis (Wanda), and John Calvin Lewis (Viola). She had seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons: Willie James Lewis and Clarence Lewis, one son in law: William G. Merriman. She also leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and dedicated caregiver Carolyn Spann and a host of other relatives and friends.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

The Broken Chain We little knew that day, God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.

You did not go alone.

For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide.

And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

The Day God Called You Home God looked around his garden and found an empty place,He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful he always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering he knew you were in pain.He knew that you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, ‘Peace be Thine’.

It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home

Footprints in the Sand One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.

Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
