Media Release HDC Recognizes 10-years of service to the people of South Sudan “Looking Back with Pride, Looking Forward with Hope” Gathering with beneficiaries, partners, stakeholders and staff, Humanitarian and Development Consortium today marked its tenth-anniversary as a national NGO in South Sudan. At a luncheon held at Royal Palace Hotel, the organization held an event with the theme of “Looking Back with Pride, Looking Forward with Hope”, featuring the viewing of a brief documentary on the organization, which was developed by South Sudanese filmmakers, performances by members of the IDP and refugee communities, and speeches by government officials and partners. “When we founded HDC in 2008 our vision for the mission and vision of the organization was very different than what we would be required to pursue in the coming years. However, with the talented team we assembled, we have grown to become a high-impact organization, capable of delivering on complex projects in difficult circumstances. We are proud as a national organization to bring this quality and commitment in working with international partners throughout South Sudan,” stated Deng He Yuot, a founder and team member of HDC. Since its inception in 2008, HDC has grown to 9 locations in 6 states, 157 staff, and a budget of over $3.2 million USD annually. The organization is a proud partner with DanChurchAid, CARE South Sudan / CARE Netherlands, UNHCR, UNMISS, The Government of The Netherlands, Government of South Sudan, and UNDP. Ruth Kessio, a founder and current Head of Operations commented “day by day for ten-years our team has built its capacity and demonstrated our ability, delivering on our commitment to the people of South Sudan, to our team members, and to our partners. We are proud of our achievements and look forward to our impact in the years ahead.” During the event, Eng. William Ngabonziza, Executive Director stated “from our front-line staff to our coordination office, HDC has built a team of talented professionals with an unwavering commitment to the people of South Sudan.
