ACCESS HEALTH CARE NETWORK, INC.  904 STATE STREET  RACINE WI 53404  December 2015

“This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in” ~ Teddy Roosevelt Dear Friends of Health Care Network, I have been in the role of Executive Director for just over a year and I must say, what a marvelous year this has been! First, thank you to everyone who has made my transition into this position a smooth one. From the fantastic board of directors and the spectacular, competent staff to the talented volunteers and loyal donors to the supportive members of community agencies and churches, and of course, the patients, everyone has been exceptionally hospitable and supportive. Not only does this say a tremendous amount about the Racine community, it also speaks volumes about the reputation Health Care Network has in the community. It truly has been one of the best years in my professional career and I have all of you to thank for that. Many people have asked about how the Affordable Care Act has impacted the relevancy of services offered through Health Care Network and whether the need for a free clinic in our community remains a necessity. In a word, yes! It has been said that it will be another 4-5 years before we understand the true impact of the Affordable Care Act. What we do know is that roughly 11% of those living in this community remain without health care coverage. Still others have coverage but do not understand how to navigate the complex system. There is much work that remains and we are committed to live out the mission of providing health care to those without insurance and will be vigilant about assessing the needs of the community as the ACA continues to unfold. With your continued support, Health Care Network will be here to fill the gaps. Thank you to each and every one of you who have done your part to support this mission. Together we are creating a healthier Racine! Sincerely,

Alison Sergio Executive Director

Despite all that has taken place regarding health care reform, the necessity of services provided through free and charitable clinics remains an integral component of our community’s wellbeing. #TheNeedContinues
