Letter from the President A message from Father Willy Raymond, C.S.C., President, Holy Cross Family Ministries.
Your 2018 charitable gift will have double the impact! Like our beloved founder, Venerable Patrick Peyton, we believe family prayer, especially the Rosary, to be the glue that holds the family together in good times and in bad, in joy and in sorrow. In the Rosary, all the faculties of mind, will, imagination, Father Willy memory, and deRaymond, C.S.C. sire are directed to the Divine. In the Rosary, we discover that we can do all things with God’s help! Whether it’s in Easton, Massachusetts at the Father Peyton Center, the new Family Rosary office in Canada, or in any of the other fifteen countries where we help families pray and grow in the faith, we always look to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the eyes of Mary his Blessed Mother. With your help and God’s grace, we join Pope Francis and the whole Church in looking for ways to build up

the family. You have already joined us in that most important work, to pray along with us for all families. Now I invite you to participate in an opportunity to double your impact on families. From now until December 31, your donation will have double the impact! Four generous Father Peyton Guild members will match any contribution you make to Holy Cross Family Ministries–up to $65,000. That means for the next few weeks, your gift to Holy Cross Family Ministries will help us serve twice as many families. If you have ever wanted to help more families, now is the time. Please prayerfully consider what your gift will mean to a family who is looking for a way to improve their prayer life—depending on you for Rosaries, retreats, and more. Thank you, and please send your gift in the enclosed envelope today. May our Blessed Mother Mary keep you and your loved ones close to her Divine Son Jesus.

So far in Canada we have held three Rosary Rallies, 5 family retreats, and invited everyone to join in our mission activities by distributing more than 8,500 newsletters and 5,000 Try Prayer cards. None of this would be possible without supporters like you. To officially celebrate the 70th anniversary of Father Peyton’s first Rosary Rally, a day of Family Retreat and Rosary Procession will be held at St. Mary’s Church in London, Ontario on December 1, 2018. We ask for your prayers as we venture into this vital ministry for all Christian families in Canada. For more information on Family Rosary Canada please check our website, www.hcfm-canada.com.

strengthen families and our communities. Visitors spend time in Rosary prayer, attend Mass in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel, partake in sacramental retreats, and family-focused programs. In June 2018, Holy Cross Family Ministries started a project that will transform the Father Peyton Center and family prayer experience. The new Center, set to open in Spring 2019, will feature a museum dedicated to sharing Father Peyton’s life and mission, and newly designed spaces for interactive family prayer and spiritual growth programs. The project will also revitalize some of the aging facilities like the kitchen, cafeteria, and Confessional. We are excited for what’s ahead as this project will enable us to welcome many more families to learn, experience and strengthen their faith through prayer and the inspiration of Father Peyton! Lastly, we have aspirations to
renovate our Chapel and Rosary Walk and create a space where pilgrims can honor Father Peyton, who we pray will one day be the “Saint for Family Prayer.” The Father Peyton Center Project is a historic opportunity to honor the life of Father Peyton and promote muchneeded family prayer and spirituality!
“The museum provides an opportunity and a venue that would bring people together to explore the story of Father Peyton and the wonderful work he did bringing families together through prayer,” said Larissa Hansen Hallgren, Principal at Experience Design, who is partnering with HCFM on this transformative project.
One Family’s Tribute to Father Peyton
The 50th Annual Irish Gala took place on Sunday, September 30, 2018, in Albany, New York. An incredible
My father was on a construction job [he suffered a terrible fall], had broken all the bones in his back and quite a few others. The doctors had given up on him. My mother Celia called Father Peyton and…he spent the whole night praying over my father, and he got better! He had three more children after the fall, and I’m one of them! Father Peyton means quite a bit to our family. – Cecilia Leonard, daughter of Celia and Denis Leonard
crowd of supporters showed up for this Family Rosary fundraiser hosted by the Leonard family. The first Irish Gala was organized in 1968 by the matriarch of the family, Celia Leonard, to honor
her husband Denis and Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C. The highlights of the afternoon included the music of the Andy Cooney Irish Show Band, the young Irish step dancers from the Michael Farrell School of Dance, and a performance by the Monrue Brother Pipers. Participants joined in dance and song. Many wore their dancing shoes for the various Irish dances such as the Siege of Ennis. Prizes were awarded, Irish jokes exchanged, and all had a great time. We are especially honored and proud that Father Peyton began his prayer ministry 76 years ago in Albany. Many
who came to the event knew and spoke of their knowledge and experience of Father Peyton. At many tables, one could find a former volunteer or two who assisted the Family Rosary Crusade in the very early days. Family Rosary remains ever grateful to the Leonard family for coordinating the Irish Gala. This year’s gala was a beautiful tribute to their late mother Celia and a celebration of Venerable Patrick Peyton’s path to sainthood. Thanks and appreciation goes to the family and the Albany volunteers and supporters, who once again organized this annual event.

Dear Jesus, Father Peyton devoted his priestly life to strengthening the families of the world by calling them to pray together every day, especially the Rosary. His message is as important for us now as it was during his life on earth. We beg you, therefore, to hasten the day of his beatification so that your faithful people everywhere will remember his message that The Family That Prays Together Stays Together, imitate him in his devotion to your Mother and ours, and be inspired by his holy life to draw ever closer to you with childlike confidence and love. Amen.
