Social Media Kit – #GIVINGTUESDAYHI To make the most of this social media kit, start by reviewing the Key Messages/Overview for #GIVINGTUESDAYHI partners. The campaign has many facets that take place “in real life,” online, and via social media. General Tips: • • • • • • • • •

Use the #GIVINGTUESDAYHI hashtag generously Don’t be shy! Begin posting at least 2 weeks before Giving Tuesday Recognize and thank your community partners as well as individuals who support your organization. Ask key influencers or ambassadors in your community if they would be willing to use their social media to support your organization. Ask your followers to share their giving stories via social media. Continually review your organization’s hashtags and mentions for great stories being shared by your supporters. Re-share great stories and posts with their permission. Thank all your supporters publically online! Use creative, funny, and relatable .gifs and images to get your posts to stand out. Feel free to use images from this Dropbox folder. Include alt-text in all images to increase post accessibility.

Suggested best times to post for nonprofits – Wednesdays from 8 AM to 9 AM; Thursdays at 10 AM; and Fridays from 8 AM to 10 AM. Link your Give Big Hawaii donation page to a post. Update your Facebook page cover image beginning in mid-November to inform your audience you’ll be participating in Giving Tuesday. Create a Facebook event to remind your followers that you’re participating in Giving Tuesday. Ask your biggest supporters / volunteers to fundraise for your organization via Facebook. Encourage them to link to the Give Big Hawaii donation page.

The best posting times for nonprofit’s are Wednesdays at 2 PM. You may see an increase in engagement if you post consistently on Mondays from 2 PM – 3 PM and Tuesdays from 1 PM to 3 PM Update your profile bio to include the hyperlink to the Give Big Hawaii donation page. Consider using Instagram stories to link directly to your fundraising page. Use the “Instagram Donate Stickers” function.
