KAUA‘I RELIEF AND RECOVERY FUND GRANTEES The Kaua‘i Relief and Recovery Fund provided grants to local organizations who have brought relief to communities across Kaua‘i that were impacted by 2018 flooding. Donations made to the Kaua‘i Relief and Recovery Fund were categorized based on the following three priority areas: • Immediate –emergency provision of food, water, shelter, healthcare • Stabilize—help for communities to get back to normal including childcare, reopening of schools, public health information on standing water, assistance with refuse, mold, and debris • Rebuild—repair of homes and facilities Kauai Relief and Recovery Fund Grant Summary for March, 2019 1.
‘āina Ho‘okupu o Kīlauea Increase capacity future disaster response*

Aloha School Early Learning Center, Inc. The grant will provide tuition aid for the 2019 school year

Hawai‘i Foodbank Funds will be used for extended food relief and community recovery

Hui Maka‘āinana o Makana Capacity building to strengthen community ties*

Mālama Kaua‘i The grant will support a group of small taro farmers who need to form a nonprofit in order to address some of the damage to the upper section of Waioli Stream
6.
Namolokama O Hanalei Canoe Club The grant will provide funding for repairs to canoes, equipment and the site of the club.
7.
National Tropical Botanical Garden Funds will be used to repair the lasting impact of the storm damage on Limahuli Stream
8.
University of Hawai‘i Foundation The grant will provide support to capture oral histories and stories from families affected by the floods.
9.
Wai‘oli Hui'i‘a Church The grant will provide support to replace flooddamaged wooden floors In the Mission Hall, which is used for community gatherings and celebrations.
10. Waipa Foundation Funds will be used to revamp the Waipa Foundation Site to better address future adverse weather events. 11. YMCA of Kaua‘i Camp Naue Roof and Fence Rehabilitation*
