Understanding CE All Pennsylvania real estate licensees (salesperson, associate broker, broker) must renew their license every two years. The current renewal period began June 1, 2024, and ends May 31, 2026. The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission requires all real estate licensees (including brokers and associate brokers) to complete 14 hours of education each renewal period.

CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES Fair Housing: Reflecting on the Past, Shaping Our Future

Agency in Today’s World

Credit: 3.5 Hours CE Requirement: PA SREC Fair Housing & NAR Fair Housing This 3 ½ hour course will cover the history of housing discrimination, protected classes, common fair housing violations, advertising requirements, accommodations and modifications for persons with disabilities, PA State Laws, Article 10 of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, current issues, and best practices to avoid discrimination. The course is approved for the mandatory 2 hours of Fair Housing required by the PA SREC for the 2024-2026 CE cycle. The course is also approved for the NAR Fair Housing requirement for the January 1, 2025- December 31, 2027 cycle. Cost is $50.

Credit: 3.5 Hours CE Requirement: PA SREC Agency This course will remind students of agency law, specifically PA agency law. This course will review students in the use of standard forms to aid them in complying with RELRA. We will discuss the requirement to always have two forms with every consumer, a Consumer Notice and a second form which outlines the agent’s relationship with the consumer, which can be representation or nonrepresentation. We will provide scenarios and talking points for agents to engage in conversations with consumers about agency and fees. We’ll review and discuss both the duties owed by licensees in PA to all consumers, and the specific fiduciary duties owed to clients. We’ll also discuss undisclosed dual agency pitfalls. Approved for 3 ½ hour CE for the 2024-2026 CE cycle, and approved for the 3hours PA SREC Mandatory Agency requirement for 2024-2026.

Positively Ethical: A Fresh Look at the Code of Ethics This 3 ½ hour course will cover the NAR Code of Ethics Preamble, the concepts established in Articles 1, 2, 3, 11 and 16 of the COE, and will identify possible violations, describe the Professional Standards process, how to use the COE in daily business practices, explain the Pathways to Professionalism, and much more. The course is approved for 3 ½ hours CE by the PA SREC for the 2024-2026 CE cycle. Course is also approved for the NAR Ethics Requirement for the January 1, 2025December 31, 2027 cycle (Cycle 8.) Cost is $50.

This course aims to provide standard salespersons with a high level of knowledge and understanding regarding key areas of real estate practice. Protect yourself and your client with proper documentation.

Real Estate Professionals will learn: duties of licensees, closing costs for buyers and sellers, the Agreement of Sale and addenda, title reports, agency relationships, zoning, and environmental concerns. Approved for 7 Hours PA Real Estate CE credit for the 2024-2026 cycle.

This course led by Cumberland County and the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, will cover zoning origins and history, zoning in Pennsylvania including authority from municipalities planning code, visual tour of zoning in Cumberland and Dauphin Counties, zoning from real estate licensees’ perspectives, contemporary zoning ideas including mixed use and overlay districts, plus much more. Approved for 3 ½ hour of CE for the 2024-2026 cycle. Cost is $50.

GHRI SCHOOL POLICIES NOTE: At the time a GHAR member registers for a class, he assumes payment responsibility for that class. GHAR members may pay tuition (class fees) at the door. Nonmembers must pay at time of registration. Tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of a class. Tuition payments are refundable if 48 hour cancellation notice is given. If a student leaves after a class begins, no portion of tuition is refunded. Exceptions due to hardship/emergency may be granted by the School Director. Students must have registered, paid for class, and be seated at the advertised class start time in order to be admitted to the class. Late arrivals will not be seated, and will not be entitled to a refund. If the School finds it necessary to cancel the entire course, the full dollar amount of any payment will be promptly refunded. If the School cancels a portion of the course, the unused portion of the tuition may be credited towards a future course or refunded. No portion of the tuition will be refunded after class day begins. GHRI does not permit auditing.
