On behalf of the Home Builders Association of South Carolina (HBASC), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 10th Annual Southern Builders Network (SBN). A comprehensive educational and networking conference, the SBN is designed to connect home building professionals with leading suppliers, service providers and national brands.
Over the next two days, we will work hard and have a little fun. Free from distractions, in a relaxing environment, you will learn and accomplish more than you could in a month at your office. I’d like to point out a few conference highlights:
On Sunday evening, the SBN opens with a Welcome Reception/Dinner providing our guests with an opportunity to get acquainted in a casual atmosphere prior to the Builder/Vendor meetings. On Monday morning, we will kick-off a full day of Builder/Vendor meetings with a Keynote Address, “BUILD SMARTER…Reduce Costs, Increase Profits” presented by Kenny Siggs, a Consultant with the Shinn Group. Our second Keynote speaker, Farrell Middleton, Founder and President of The Bell Curve of Life will present “BUILDING STRONG PARTNERSHIPS - Creating Environments for Success”. You won’t want to miss these dynamic presentations!
The Builder/Vendor meetings offer the ideal platform for Builders and Vendors to establish relationships, engage in meaningful dialog and explore products and services. Builder/ Vendor meetings will be held at the Vendor’s table and Builders will rotate according to their customized meeting schedule. Each meeting is approximately 15 minutes in duration with a couple of minutes between meetings for rotation.
Networking is also an important component of the Southern Builders Network. During meals, breaks and receptions, the SBN affords our attendees the ultimate venue to establish new connections, build upon existing relationships and exchange ideas. By popular request, we have designated Monday evening as a free evening and we have expanded the hours of the Hospitality Suite.

Kenny Siggs, a third-generation owner of Siggs Air Conditioning, has a BS in Building Construction, an MS in Management, and an MBA, along with General Contractor (CGC) and Air Conditioning (CAC) licenses. His career spans high-rise construction, homebuilding operations for both national and private production builders, and corporate business strategy. Now, as a consultant, trainer and coach with Shinn Group Kenny brings specialization in estimating and procurement, cost analysis, operations management, multi-market scaling and strategic growth initiatives.
Committed to industry leadership, Kenny serves on the Florida Gulf Coast University Employer Advisory Board, the Lee Building Industry Association Board, and the Florida Home Builders Association Government Affairs Committee.
Kenny lives in Southwest Florida with his wife, Kirsten, their two daughters, and their dogs. He enjoys competing in triathlons, growing vegetables in their family garden, and listening to audiobooks.

Topic #1
First we will focus on the importance of the relationships between sales representatives and operations associates of Manufacturers, Distributors, and Suppliers with their Builder clients. Points of discussion will include product offerings, understanding client priorities, emphasizing organizational strengths, and fulfilling commitments. In each organization, all production activities, product quality, delivery of services, and the overall relationship are the ultimate responsibility of all associates from the top down.

The second topic is “A Performer/A Environment.” The focus will be on initiatives that are based on our historical educational grading scale – A, B, C, D, F. If you put a C Performer in an A Environment, they can become an A Performer. If you put an A Performer in a C Environment, they will become a C Performer, and will probably leave. If you create an A Environment and achieve A Performance, you cannot fail.

My grandfather, Loyd Moore, was a mill-carpenter who later became a job site foreman for a local homebuilder. Upon his passing, my father, Harold Moore, stepped into the same role, building strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and architects.

Aaron Droege joined Mungo Homes in 2018 as a Purchasing Manager and was promoted to Director of Purchasing in 2019. As the Director of Purchasing, Aaron manages his department, negotiates pricing with national vendors, qualifies subcontractors/suppliers across all markets and identifies cost saving policies and procedures.

Martin Alloy and Stanley Halle created Stanley Martin in 1966 in the Maryland suburbs outside of Washington, D.C. New homes in the 1960s were often small ramblers without a garage. Early on, Stanley Martin began innovating with fresh new designs which made multi-level and two-story homes affordable. Fairly quickly, we expanded our single-family homes to include various sizes and types of townhomes as well.
In 2017, Stanley Martin joined the Daiwa House Group. Daiwa House is one of the largest real estate and development companies in the world and provides synergies and capital access that supports Stanley Martin’s national expansion strategy. In 2018, Stanley Martin opened in two new cities: Charleston, SC and Atlanta, Ga. The company continues to grow and in February 2020 we expanded our operations into additional metro areas in North Carolina and South Carolina, including Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC.
In September 2021 Stanley Martin entered Florida offering homes in Tampa and Orlando.
