A Saviour?

We need a saviour because as sinners we cannot save ourselves from God’s condemnation of sin "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (2) The angel Gabriel previously told Mary that her child would be none other than the Son of God and that He would "save his people from their sins"(3). When he grew up, Jesus said of himself: "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost".(4) Jesus was born to die - not for his own sin but for our sins, for the Bible tells us that "in him is no sin". (5) "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners". (6)
