Joining Isla is film maker Patrick King who gives a fascinating and humorous look at the making of their award-winning documentary films. In its midst, one woman, her three children by her side, sees an opportunity to survive, a way to profit from the slaughter by selling goods to both sides. Armonico Consort Soloists and Baroque Players

Pitchy Breath

Too Hot To Handel Musical Director: Christopher Monks Countertenor: William Towers Soprano: Yvette Bonner An evening of sublime beauty as a Handel opera is performed as never before and the Armonico Consort once again interprets the music of the Baroque in a unique way for the 21st century.

Touching Bodies Behind the glowing windows and under the street lights of every town, lonely bodies of teenagers, young adults, parents and the old live unaware of each other. That is until tonight, when Gemma will leave Marianne holding the baby, Justin will receive a visit from the police, Mercedes will be cornered by a strange man, and Sian and Toby will finally spend their first night together.

A story of two lovers intertwines some of the most ravishing of Handel’s arias from his many operas, moving from drama to comedy, from tragedy to laughter.

One night when each will realise sometimes we all need somebody, nobody, everybody, anybody…

In a concept created by William Towers, the internationally renowned countertenor who is a regular at The Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne, the orchestra, soloists and chorus bring Handel’s music to vibrant life.

Misery

Joss Arnott Dance

by Stephen King

The Dark Angel The highly technical and fastpaced company present a triple bill featuring pieces created and danced by artistic director Joss Arnott. 24 is inspired by the themes explored within Alexander McQueen’s exhibition Savage Beauty. An all female cast explodes onto the stage with energetic and elegant choreography. Origin, a new commission for 2012 sees artistic director Joss Arnott take to the stage and dance a fluid yet intense solo that explores his fascination with the body. Threshold is a highly energetic piece that demonstrates the strength and power of the all female cast as they contort themselves into hypermobile yet beautiful positions. www.jossarnottdance.co.uk

Adapted by Simon Moore, (writer of acclaimed movie Traffik) from King’s award-winning novel, Misery is a dark and twisting tale which enthrals the audience from beginning to unexpected end. Popular romance novelist Paul Sheldon retires to Colorado to write the final work in a successful series featuring his heroine Misery Chastain. After losing control of his car he regains consciousness in a dilapidated farmhouse cut off from the outside world. The Circus of Horrors: The Curse Of The Devil Doll

Ga Ga

The show that stormed into the finals of Britain’s Got Talent is back on tour with new shocks as it takes you on a whirlwind journey into 1927 Berlin, a decadent decade, the birth of the cabaret and the home to ‘The Devil Doll’.

Ga Ga have consistently proved why they are so highly rated by critics and audiences - no wigs, no make-up (and definitely no false moustaches) but instead a host of massive Queen songs played as they were meant to be.

The new phantasmagoria features fangtastic, daredevil, bizarre circus acts from all over the world that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat when not falling off it with laughter.

Horse And Rider: A Journey Towards Freedom

(PG) 92 mins

(12A) 107 mins

with Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart

with Googie Withers, Edward Chapman, John McCallum

with Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, Kirsten Scott Thomas

Based on Jack Kerouac’s autobiographical cult novel. An aspiring New York writer meets a devastatingly charming ex-con, married to the very liberated and seductive Marylou. Thirsting for freedom, they head off in search of the world, new encounters, and themselves.

A unhappily married woman shelters her former lover in her London home after he has escaped from prison and rediscovers her feelings for him.

The inspirational comedy follows a sheik’s passion for bringing fishing to the middle of the desert. An unlikely team embark on a journey to prove the impossible, possible.

A late ‘40s Ealing Studios hit, beautifully shot, with film noir-ish touches, the film portrays a morally bankrupt post-war society where characters grab what they can, with no regard for anyone else.

Shot on location in India in 2011, this narrative documentary traces the tangled memories of two survivors of child prostitution who have become friends. Award-winning director Ben Stamper explores the complexities of rescuing minors from brothels and their subsequent journey of restoration. A cinematic pilgrimage from Ooty to Mumbai to Calcutta with riveting first-hand accounts from former victims and family members. www.horseandriderfilm.com Hire – A Freedom Firm promotion

The show, the brainchild of award-winning folk band The Demon Barbers, sees a group of street dancers arrive at an apparently deserted pub. Local rumour has it that The Fighting Cocks is the place to be ‘after hours’ but as the regulars arrive a clash of cultures turns into a dance floor stand-off. The skill, speed and athleticism of the dancers on both sides soon wins the others over as the old and new are brought together in an exciting and dynamic dance-off. Sword dances are performed with snooker-cues, pub bouncers dance the Morris and B-boys flirt with clog girls.
