A new play by Abi Zakarian Leah is sorting through all the stuff that has accumulated in her spare room: clothes she doesn’t wear, books she doesn’t read, things she doesn’t need. Constantly reliving events in her past; she desperately tries to unpick just where it all went wrong and who is really to blame. A raw, poignant, and unflinching look at the unravelling of one woman’s life, Fabric questions the shifting roles and expectations of women in today’s society and asks how, if ever, they can be fulfilled. ‘You can never catch up with yourself once that first thread is pulled…’ This brand new play was developed by TREMers and stars Nancy Sullivan, whose performance in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at both the West Yorkshire Playhouse and Birmingham Rep in 2015 received huge critical acclaim ‘Nancy Sullivan is outstanding’ (The Stage). Directed by Tom O’Brien. Recommended for ages 15+ www.tremers.co.uk

An exhibition inspired by trees and landscapes painted intuitively in watercolours and mixed media. The images are suggested in soft muted colours.

This exhibition showcases the artwork of students from local infant and junior schools in Crawley. As Oriel High School continues its creative exchanges with these schools, this exhibition celebrates the diverse and creative work produced by the students.

Talented students from the School exhibit Art and Design work from years 7 to 11. Topics covered range from prints inspired by insect life, body adornment, pop art food, their own environment, self-portraits, the seashore and other GCSE exam work.

In 2015, Circles in collaboration with Ginger Moo, The DoStuffBus and Wordfest Crawley, produced an ‘Arts Inclusive Festival’ with the aim of raising awareness of adults with disability and mental health issues. The exhibition gives a snapshot of some of the work produced throughout the festival. Martin creates unique, beautiful seascapes and beach scenes, rich in atmosphere and texture. Taking inspiration from 10 years living just a stone’s throw from Hove beach, the paintings, sometimes dark, offer the viewer a sense of beauty, solitude, space and calm. www.martin-rolt-art.co.uk Photographer Canan (aka Canan Death at Sea) is interested in human stories, hidden meanings in scenes, objects or people that are out of place and conflicting emotions. Her work is about looking around and seeing the world from different angles and capturing them through the fun of photography. www.canandeathatsea.com CCAR’s 40th Anniversary exhibition celebrates the richness of our vibrant multicultural town.

THE CHRONICLE

Based on the 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption, this thrilling stage production examines desperation, injustice, friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum security facility. The 1994 feature film, regularly voted Britain’s favourite ever movie, starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and was nominated for seven Academy Awards. Despite protests of his innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife and her lover. Incarcerated at the notorious Shawshank facility, he quickly learns that no one can survive alone. Andy strikes up an unlikely friendship with the prison fixer Red, and things take a slight turn for the better. However, when Warden Stammas decides to bully Andy into subservience and exploit his talents for accountancy, a desperate plan is quietly hatched…
