Keeping you up to date on regeneration proposals In the last few months there has been considerable progress with the Housing Regeneration Programme.

The initial 51 potential development partners that had expressed interest in the project have now been reduced to six with a decision on a final partner due to be made at the end of this year.

Many residents from the Waterloo Estate, Napier House and New Plymouth House have moved now as these are likely to be the first estates to be regenerated.

There have also been residents moved from Chippenham Road, Farnham Road and Hilldene Avenue as suitable properties which meet their housing needs become available.

Those moves will continue over the next few years as the Housing Regeneration Programme continues to move forward.

Next meeting Regeneration Programme Director, Neil Stubbings, will be giving an update on the proposals and answering questions at a Residents’ Open Meeting on Thursday 5 October 2017.

New flats will be built on top of the existing ones as part of the scheme.

Smile: you’re fine is on camera

There has been some fly tipping on the estate recently which makes the estate look unsightly.

The estate is covered by CCTV cameras and we will use the evidence from those cameras to issue Penalty Charge Notices for fly tipping – these are usually for £100.

Using the Council’s bulky waste collection service costs £40 for one to three items and then £10 for every additional item so is much cheaper than fly tipping and being fined!

Get rid of the gates Some residents have installed security gates across their front doors.

These are not authorised and cause major problems if an emergency evacuation is required.

Residents who have installed such gates must remove them immediately as they are in breach of their tenancy agreements.

Local Lettings Plan The Local Lettings Plan is being revised to take account of forthcoming legislative changes.

It is not intended that the revisions will affect the substance of the Plan.

A formal consultation will take place during September and part of that consultation includes the meeting with residents in Chippenham Road, Farnham Road and Hilldene Avenue scheduled for Thursday 5 October 2017.

There will be one Local Lettings Plan for Council tenants and a separate Regeneration Pack for leaseholders and freeholders.

Both will be published on the Council’s website when available.
