PROFESSIONAL ADVISING

Advising focuses on professional development, communicating in professional settings, and building your confidence in networking and developing relationships, especially with Haverford’s dedicated and accomplished alumni and potential mentors. You will be guided to recognize and articulate the excellent analytical and communication skills, specialized knowledge, and remarkable leadership experience you’ll develop at Haverford. The CCPA works with employers, maintains job boards, and hosts recruiting days, job fairs, and other events that help you connect with professionals in your desired fields. The CCPA assists you with finding and securing internships, externships, and post-graduate jobs and opportunities.

APPLYING TO GRADUATE SCHOOL

Get help navigating the application process for graduate and other professional schools. If you are interested in pursuing Ph.D. programs, you’ll receive guidance from Haverford faculty in your selected discipline. Haverford has a dedicated pre-health advisor as well as a pre-law advisor, both housed at the CCPA. NETWORKING

The CCPA hosts and participates in many networking events throughout the year and provides guidance to help you successfully utilize the many resources available.

SHARON WILLIAMS ‘23 Major: Psychology at Bryn Mawr College Post-grad plans: Sharon Williams is starting her post-grad career at the Vanguard Group, an investment advisory firm, where she works as a portfolio implementation associate. Williams plans to further her education by attending graduate school to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology.

JARED HELLER ‘23 Major: History

Minor: East Asian Languages & Cultures Post-grad plans: Jared Heller earned a bachelor of arts in history with a minor in East Asian languages & cultures during his time at Haverford. He began his career as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company, with future aspirations in private equity or even to start his own company.

SARINA SMITH ‘23 Major: Biology

Major: Mathematics

Minors: Economics & Scientific Computing Post-grad plans: Ben Pham Roodman, a mathematics major who minored in economics and computer science and concentrated in scientific computing, started a career at the intersection of finance and social impact. He joined several Fords working for Public Finance Management (PFM), a public finance group offering consulting services to public entities like local governments, universities, hospitals, and transportation companies.

Minor: Health Studies

Post-grad plans: Sarina Smith ‘23 is currently working as a lab technician at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Looking to the future, Smith has plans to pursue a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology with an emphasis on neurogenetics. She also hopes to get more involved in patient advocacy and communicating science to the public.
