





Throughout 2023 and 2024, your steadfast commitment to over 225 children in our seven partner homes continues to make a lasting impact. With the support of generous donors and the dedication of home directors and staff, together we have achieved remarkable progress! Each child’s story is one of resilience and courage. Refugio de Esperanza, our flagship home in Bolivia, has empowered over 350 children to discover purpose and hope. Adriana, once rejected by her parents, graduated as class president and top of her class. Their devoted staff completed a one-year TBRI certification, exemplifying their commitment to exceptional care Refuge of Life, an all-girls home in Peru, gave hope to Rocia, who was misdiagnosed as “retarded” at 12 after severe abuse. With restorative programs and a loving environment, she has overcome the diagnosis, is homeschooled, and learning to bake and sew with hope for her future.
Matonyok Children’s Home in Tanzania provides a safe home and education for children like Junior, abandoned due to severe blisters. Now part of the Matonyok family, Junior and others receive care, restoring their dignity, health, and hope for the future.
JEHO Safe Home in Kenya transforms lives for children like James, abandoned in a condemned building. With shelter, care, and support, JEHO restores their safety and worth. Now in school and part of a loving family, James and his peers thrive with hope for the future.
Watu Wa Maana in Kenya supports children like 7-yearold John, who arrived unable to speak. With care, he found his voice, enrolled in school, and joined Watu’s loving family, showing the power of a nurturing environment for healing and growth.
Operation Smile Home for Children in Trinidad was beautifully renovated by the Men & Women of Action Team, preparing it to welcome children in 2024.Under Sandy-Joy Basdeo’s leadership, the home addresses a critical need in a country with too few children’s homes.

Each year, our homes request additional support beyond general operating costs. In 2023, thanks to your incredible generosity, we invested $280,000 to meet these needs—significantly increasing the $55,850 we provided in 2022. In 2023, total revenues were $1,033,808, with the majority coming from our generous Family of Hope donors. These contributions allowed us to provide each home with essential monthly funding for operating costs, food, and clothing for the children, as well as education expenses and access to medical, dental, and vision care. We also funded caregiver training, psychological and social support, and additional staff to improve the staff-to-child ratio. We are deeply grateful to you, our Family of Hope, for your ongoing support, which continues to move our children and programs from surviving to thriving.

In 2023, Haven of Hope International focused on Building Foundations—establishing the physical structures and programmatic fundamentals to support vulnerable children.
We created new facilities, renovated existing spaces, and launched vocational training programs, ensuring that opportunities for education, wellness, and skill development were being provided at each home.
In 2024, our focus shifted to Building People. We invested in expanding caregivers—adding social workers, psychologists, and specialized staff to support each child’s unique needs.
We formally created our training under the Orphan Care Training Institute and began to schedule a zoom call training calendar that enable all homes to benefit from the trainings.
This focus on empowering our caregivers and enhancing support fosters a nurturing, stable environment for long-term growth.
Together, Building Foundations and Building Leadership form a solid foundation of care, creating sustainable change and inspiring hope for future generations.
As we look to 2025, exciting opportunities await to expand our impact, reaching even more children through the HOHI Orphan Care Training Institute. At the same time, we remain committed to keeping you connected with the homes you’ve so generously empowered throughout 2023-2024, ensuring ongoing support and growth. During 2024 we advocated for the Nation of Orphans by passing out 1000 4’ x 6 ‘ flags along with thousands of desktop flags and bookmarks. To learn more, click here
Rhonda Jarvis Boy’s Home and Dream Center
The boy’s living quarters on the Joe Morici Campus right next door to the main campus was completed. The boys’ living quarters is on the second floor and a Dream Center is on the first floor for vocational training.
Emma’s Echo Internship Program
Launched in 2023, this fully accredited program allows college students to experience a quality family model of orphan care.
Off-Campus Transition Home
Provides a supportive environment for older girls (18+) transitioning to independent living. To learn more, click here

A new filtration system supplies clean free water to the boy’s campus, saving water costs.
Staff Training & Certification
Directors and staff received Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) certification for trauma-informed care. They are certified to teach other caregivers in Spanish for HOHI - Orphan Care Trining Institute.

A move to a new more spacious transition home location with additional support staff to guide residents in their journey to independence. The transition program is a prototype for scaling to other partner homes preparing young adults for life transitions after 18 years of age.
In Bolivia, the program is headed by Graciela. The transition program team includes Gladys, Damaris, Cyntia and Cathy.
A brand-new home for Esther was a life changing reward for long standing dedication.
Renovations improved the work environment and functionality for the benefit of the children in the areas dedicated to serving them: kitchen, social worker and psychology offices, library and study hall.

The water filtration system was expanded to supply clean water to the entire campus saving thousands of dollars in water costs.

In 2023, four new 8-person family living quarters were completed, providing a safe and nurturing environment for orphaned girls. They now receive education and pursue their dreams.
Staff work tirelessly to heal trauma. Many girls have caught up academically and become junior leaders.
All new girls received comprehensive medical and dental check-ups upon arrival.
Launched to equip home leadership with the necessary knowledge and processes for opening the home, onboarding staff.

Enabled the cultivation of crops and the raising of protein sources. Thousands of nutritious meals were provided, promoting health and well-being.

Children learn valuable agricultural skills by cultivating vegetables and raising protein sources. This handson experience fosters responsibility and the rewards of hard work, while providing hundreds of nutritious meals that promote health and well-being.
We provided life-changing treatments for Neema, a courageous 13-year-old girl battling HIV/AIDS and awaiting a life-saving kidney transplant. Our commitment to her care could potentially transform how HIV/ AIDS and transplant procedures are approached in Tanzania.

Clean Water Became a Reality
The installation of an on-campus well was begun providing a future of clean water for the children and staff.
Building Leadership
A social worker was hired to support the children’s needs.
Life-changing Medical
Neema, Emmy and the Matonyok support staff arrived in the U.S. to prepare for her life-changing kidney transplant scheduled for January 2025.
Food Sustainability Rapidly Expanding
On campus agricultural efforts yielded an abundance of sunflower oil, seeds, corn, beans, and chickpeas providing a nutritious supply of food for the children and seeds for next year.
Sandy Joy Basdeo, daughter of founders Madho and Chandra Basdeo will serve as home manager. During renovation, she developed a strategic plan for the home when it opens in 2024. Understanding the importance of an educated support team, HOHI will be assisting with coaching and training her new leadership team.
In June 2023, extensive renovations were completed on four family-style cottages originally built in 2006, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Men & Women of Action teams. The updates included new kitchen cabinets; new beds, closets & desks in each bedroom, new toilets, bathroom tiling, interior cleaning/painting and the installation of hot water heaters.
Renovations continued to secure necessary permits for ongoing facility upgrades.
The implementation of a 1600 Plant Vertical Hydroponic System is underway. Once in place, it will be a gamechanger in terms of providing fresh, healthy produce for the home and will also translate into an estimated $2000 in monthly income to support the home.
HOHI’s Child Sponsorship program was expanded to connect sponsors with the Operation Smile children in need.
This 38 bed ranch focuses on children being trafficked.
The Equine-Assisted Learning and Therapy program provides a unique, hands-on approach to helping children develop essential life skills. Through interaction with horses, children learn to build trust, improve communication, and foster healthy relationships.
HOFYR Director John played a pivotal role in supporting all homes by establishing caregiver training programs to equip caregivers with essential skills for fostering a peaceful and nurturing environment for children in orphanage settings. Training is focused on understanding child development, trauma-informed care, and effective communication techniques, empowering caregivers to provide better emotional support, manage challenging behaviors, and create a safe space where children can thrive despite their difficult backgrounds.
Landscaping was updates and siding was replaced on one of the homes.
Renovations/remodeling to the current administration building began to created a classroom space for the new campus school.
WIFI capabilities were enhanced to provide full campus functionality.

Mission
Transform the futures of orphaned, abused, and abandoned children by equipping caregivers with specialized training to help children thrive. Mobilizing leaders and equipping caregivers with specialized training to support the Nation of Orphans.
The Institute enables HOHI to expand its global reach by equipping leaders and caregivers through both conferences and online training, creating a powerful, cost-effective impact that benefits thousands of children worldwide.
Conducted via Zoom, making training accessible to caregivers worldwide, regardless of location or time. In a recent training, caregivers from 6 African homes attended a zoom training session impacting the care of 314 children.
Interactive Learning
Includes real-time Q&A, ongoing mentorship, and interactive sessions, empowering caregivers to directly apply skills. Classes become new communities of support for isolated caregivers.
Global Reach
In 2024, HOHI partnered with Global Church Network to advocate for the Nation of Orphans and provide free training to caregivers. The response was overwhelming. To get training into their hands, GCN has invited HOHI to provide curriculum in their Global Church Divinity School.

An important initiative in the Youth Development/Transition model, our Future of Hope program provides educational grants for young people pursuing college of vocational education. Future of Hope Grants were started with our first Klimbing for Kids Campaign in 2018. Laser Lounge Spa started sponsoring the program when Megan Garcia climbed in 2022 and has continued to raise funds each year. Future of Hope Scholarships have supported 47 youth in Bolivia, Kenya and in 2024, it expanded grants to Tanzania.
