You’re sure to see us out and about at the local nursery choosing plants for landscaping, at Home Depot selecting paint swatches, shopping at Fresh Native for some great staging material, or working away at our unofficial headquarters, Mazama Coffee Co. on Mercer. Meet Melissa Roberts - MelissaRoberts@RealtyAustin.com

Competitive and nurturing usually aren’t characteristics that go hand-in-hand, however, I couldn’t find a better way to describe myself. I challenge myself to continuously master my craft, and to inherently know what each family/client needs from me. I pride myself in my ability to take my clients’ expectations beyond what they ever could have imagined. I’ve been ranked as a top agent several times throughout my career, and am very blessed to work for the #1 agency in Austin, Realty Austin. Working with Bailey has taken my business to a whole new level. We love taking on the real estate market together. My real drive for excellence comes from my three wonderful children, and my supportive husband. They make me better each and every day. A proud native Texan, I love my state and bringing people into our beautiful Hill Country. Meet Bailey Perkins - BaileyPerkins@RealtyAustin.com

The daughter of a custom home builder, I grew up in Lakeway and Spicewood, attended Texas State University, and then worked for one of the largest marketing companies in Austin. It was my dad who encouraged me to get my license, and subsequently introduced me to Melissa. We hit it off immediately, and were completely in-sync with our philosophies on servant based leadership, and holding our standards for service to clients at the utmost level. I am so very blessed to do this for a living and to work with a wonderful partner like Melissa. She is so genuine, kind, giving, and knows the real estate business in and out. There’s a lot of realtors in Austin, but working with us is a truly unique experience - -we care, we give, and we deliver results -- and get to add some really great people into our circle of family and friends as we do! Special thanks to Chase Babcock and Denise Stone, owner of Bee Lavish Vintage Rentals! The Hive “MELISSA AND BAILEY WERE FABULOUS TO WORK WITH. THEY SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY WERE ABLE TO GET US INTO A HOME THAT WASN’T EVEN ON THE MARKET, WHICH WAS AMAZING. THEY ARE DEDICATED TO THEIR CLIENTS, AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND.” - T. J.

Here I am taking in the endless sea of bluebonnets and the intoxicating fragrance at Muleshoe Bend Recreational Area a couple of years ago. This photo graced the cover of our very first issue! It was my first time visiting Muleshoe and had no idea this was a rare sighting because of the drought. I’m so grateful I adventured back a couple weeks later with friends and my girls to take it all in again!

Every issue we donate space to highlight local charities and organizations doing great things. On page 34 learn what inspired Talaya to start CC4C and how they help families and children with rare or undiagnosed conditions. On page 13 - meet Michelle Alderman, Founder of One Market, and how she’s helping provide income for girls transitioning out of human trafficking.

Speaking of wildflowers, on Page 26, discover haute spots to shop, eat and play in Johnson City. A small, historical town with wine tasting, art galleries and unique shops like Stidham Outfitters known for their handcrafted leather goods designed and built right in the shop!

home Buy One, Unite Many...Meet The Couples Behind The Gathering Table Co. What inspired you and your husbands to start The Gathering Table Co.?

The Gathering Table Co. was formed through a love of woodworking and a desire to do something for those in need in our local community. The significance of gathering around a table as a family or a community is what has inspired us to sell handmade tables and to donate tables to organizations whose common mission is to provide hope and support to those in need. We believe that having a proper table in a home or community shouldn’t be limited to just those with the money to buy a table. So, for every table purchased, we will donate a new table to a local organization or ministry with whom we’ve partnered. Tell us about the different styles and custom tables you offer.

We offer a variety of handcrafted wood tables that can be customized in shape, size, stain and finish. Our most popular styles are our Original Gathering Table which offers a trestle base and our traditional Gathering Farmhouse Table. Most of our tables are built using southern yellow pine or sourced reclaimed wood, but if you have a specific type of wood in mind, we can work on that too. We’ve worked with customers on rustic and modern styles and are eager to build the right table for your home to create your perfect gathering space. Which local outreach organizations do you partner with and what impact have you seen?

The best part of this whole thing is when we get to deliver brand new donated tables to one of our local outreach partners. Each organization strives to restore hope and provide love and support to those in need. We have currently partnered with Community First Village, Caritas of Austin and The Refuge – Austin. To date, we’ve donated tables that allow residents to gather in fellowship and families in need to sit together and share a meal. We invite you to learn more about each of these amazing organizations by visiting our Outreach Partners page www.gatheringtableco.com/outreach-partners.

haute charity spotlight Meet Michelle Alderman, Founder of One Market - Products With a Purpose onemarket4good.com / info@onemarket4good.com Instagram: @michelle.onemarket Facebook: One Market

What moved you to support artisans in Peru?

I was introduced to a young couple who took ownership of an orphanage in Peru in order to prevent it from closing. If they didn’t step in and act, the 9 girls living there would have been sent to toxic living situations. I was so inspired by their act of courage that I decided to travel to Peru and see how I could help. It seemed like the natural next step (although I look back now and it seems crazy!). I decided to document the journey so that people who wanted to be a part of something bigger, like I had, could join me. I wanted to open the door for more people to get involved, open perspectives and advocate for the least of these. While in Peru I met with the most amazing artisans and it became clear to me how I could help. One Market’s mission was born. I began purchasing from artisans working under fairtrade conditions providing them with income and selling goods in order to raise funds for humanitarian aid. We work hand-in-hand with nonprofit partners to create jobs, empower artisans and provide basic human needs such as clean water and shelter. What products does One Market carry?

Our PURELY Good Shoes collection includes ballet slips and high top sneakers. We also carry an assortment of jewelry from eco-friendly Tagua palm seed necklaces up to fine silver and gemstone pieces. Most of our items can be found in the One Market shop located at Revival in Bee Cave next to the Wardrobe. For fine silver you can go online at www.onemarket4good.com.

In August we will be traveling to Ecuador to visit Casa Mis Sueños and explore how we can provide income for girls transitioning out of human trafficking. We hope to create as many jobs as possible but we need the support of the community to do so. We hope you will join us by shopping and make this a possibility!

Cosmic Art & Soul by Ashley W.

Ashley believes that art is a universal — and totally cosmic — way to communicate and that every piece of art you own should express your style & creativity. In addition to being featured on Dot & Bo, her work has been commercially licensed and has been shown in galleries and sold to customers around the world. While she enjoys producing art for commercial licensing, her main passion is creating collectible pieces and limited edition prints that speak to her base of collectors with her bold use of color, her edgy signature style and her inspiring captions, which are often laced with a twist of sarcastic wit. Haute Charity Spotlight CC4C Helping Families and Children With Rare or Undiagnosed Conditions Talaya, what inspired you to start the charity CC4C?

My daughter, Cheyanna, suffered from an undiagnosed medical condition. For years, I traveled across the country, seeking anyone with knowledge that could help save my baby. It was a terrifying and agonizing journey both to her accurate diagnosis and through her eventual treatment. Looking back, I can now piece the events of my life to the bigger picture God had in mind to help countless families who have lost hope and face a cloud of uncertainty. CC4C provides hope, help and inspiration to families battling rare and undiagnosed medical conditions. CC4C’s vision for the future is that any child, anywhere, without answers to their illness, will have a community to turn to for resources and support to heal. CC4C has done a fantastic job engaging the local community here in Austin. Tell us how the charity goes about that?

Thank you! CC4C matches each sponsored child with a Champion Teammate and a High School team. The local teammates use their platform or celebrity status to provide the child with unforgettable experiences. The children are also made honorary members of a High School team. These programs keep the children emotionally uplifted so they can continue to physically fight towards healing as we connect them to the the nations top medical institutions and organizations. Locally, we have partnerships with Lake Travis High School, Georgetown High School, Regents… just to name a few! We’ve also had incredible Champion Teammates like country music’s Jack Ingram and WWE Superstars Mark Calaway and Mark Henry. Tell us about your annual gala that is coming up.

| spring 2017

Our 4th annual ‘A Night to Uplift’ is slated for April 23 at the stunning Ranch Austin, and we anticipate a capacity crowd once again! Our “Longhorns and Lace” themed gala will feature live music by Drew Womack, drinks by Deep Eddy Vodka, fine dining, and a live auction. And our guests will even be able to take their photo with the famous Longhorn bull, Bevo, the UT’s live mascot! I’m sure excited to dust off my cowboy boots!

Two Paleo Sisters Share Their Sunday Brunch Egg Casserole Follow Two Paleo Sisters blog & new recipes at twopaleosisters.com Instagram: @twopaleosisters / Facebook: Two Paleo Sisters

Two Paleo Sisters, Claire and Aubrey, believe in a modern approach to the traditional diet of our ancestors. While filling our plates with whole, locally-sourced foods, we also prioritize sleep, hydration and stress-management. We are current students in the Nutritional Therapy Association’s NTC Program and are thrilled to graduate in November. Sunday Brunch Egg Casserole

We love to make something special on the weekends for brunch. Serve for a group with a green salad, sliced tomatoes and a Texas-sized portion of guacamole as a healthy alternative to quiche or cut into individual squares to keep in the fridge for quick graband-go breakfasts (wrap the squares in freezer bags and defrost the night before).

| spring 2017

1-2 tsp coconut oil or grass-fed butter Organic fresh kale (4 cups packed) – chopped Organic artichoke hearts - chopped ¼ cup ricotta cheese (optional) ½ cup shredded swiss cheese (optional) 8 pasture-raised eggs, beaten 3 slices of bacon, (cooked) broken into pieces Salt and pepper to taste

36

Instructions: • Preheat oven to 375F and grease an 9x9-inch glass or casserole dish with coconut oil or butter. Heat 1 tsp of oil in a large frying pan and sauté kale just until it is wilted, about 1-2 minutes. Spread wilted kale on bottom of casserole dish. Top with artichoke pieces, shredded cheese and bacon pieces. • Beat the eggs, mix in the ricotta cheese and salt and pepper. Pour the egg mixture into the dish and use a spatula to gently spread the egg mixture evenly over vegetables. • Bake 40-45 minutes or until eggs are set and starting to brown. Let cool 5-10 minutes before cutting. Sprinkle chopped parsley or cilantro over the top and serve with avocado, sliced tomatoes and a side salad!
