Hello and welcome to the very first edition of Hunted!

Hunted is a curated collection of the stories, makers, and inspiration behind the beautiful things we stock in-store and online. It’s our way of pulling back the curtain and sharing the creativity, intention, and soul that goes into every handmade piece, every thoughtful design, and every small business we proudly support.

In each issue, readers will discover behi nd-the-scenes insights, styling ideas, seasonal finds, and the people who shape our boutique’s unique identity. It’s more than a lookbook—it’s a love letter to slow fashion, mindful living, and the art of finding something truly special.

In our ve ry f irst issue, you’ll find a curated Mother’s Day gifting guide to help you find something truly special for Mum, a look at Pantone’s Colour of the Year and how it’s influencing design trends, and a feature on styling with pre-loved fashion by the ever-inspiring Bianca Flint.

We also had t he pleasure of sitting down with local ceramic artist Kerry Hardy, whose colouful pieces have become customer favourites. Her story and craft embody the heart of what Hunted is all about: authenticity, artistry, and the joy of discovering something made with love.

We hope you enjoy Hunted, a mini magazine for you, born from our love of storytelling and beautiful things. Best Wishes & Warmest Regards, :0 Andrea.

Meet The Maker

Kerry Hardy is a creative soul who’s recently made the move to beautiful Ballarat.

Her artistic journey spans over three decades, initially rooted in the dynamic fields of graphic design and illustration.

For years Kerry thrived on bringing visual concepts to life through these mediums. However, a new chapter unfolded recently when she ventured into the tactile world of ceramics.

Kerry says ā€œI’m thoroughly enjoying the hands-on process, experimenting with various techniques and discovering my own voice in clay. The possibilities seem endless, and each piece is a new exploration. For my current range showcased at Hattie and the Wolf, I’ve focused on slip casting and hand painting. This allows me to imbue each piece with vibrant colours and intricate botanical designs, reflecting my long-standing fascination with the natural world. It’s a joy to translate my illustrative style onto these three-dimensional forms, and I’m excited to share this new expression of my creativity with you.ā€

You can find a lovely range of Kerry Hardy’s ceramics in store at Hattie and the Wolf.

Pantone

Colour of the year is

The Pantone Colour of the Year program engages the design community and colour enthusiasts in a conversation around colour, highlighting the relationship between colour and culture.

Pantone selects a colour each year that captures the global zeitgeist—the Colour of the Year express a global mood and an attitude, reflecting collective desire in the form of a single, distinct hue.

For 2025, the Pantone Colour Institute selected PANTONE 171230 Mocha Mousse, a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.

Let's Talk

Welcome to our very first edition of the Slow Fashion Series! Let’s explore a fresh, intentional approach to how we think about clothing and consumption.

At its core, Slow Fashion invites us to embrace an ethical and sustainable mindset not just in how we produce clothing, but in how we consume it.

Think of it this way: clothing can’t truly be ethical without being sustainable, and vice versa. When these two important elements work in harmony, we create garments that are kind to both our planet and the wonderful people who make them.

But Slow Fashion goes beyond just production— it’s about how we shop, our personal style, and our attitudes toward what we wear. When we start to view clothing as ā€˜disposable’ simply because it’s cheap and easily accessible, we often overlook the craftsmanship, hard work, and dedication that went into creating each piece.

So, how can we embrace a Slow Fashion lifestyle? It might sound daunting, but don’t worry! Here are some friendly tips to guide you without putting a dent in your wallet:

Spend Time in Your Wardrobe.

Take a moment to explore what you already have! Understanding your personal style—what makes you feel confident and comfortable—is key. When you know yourself better, you tend to buy less and cherish what you have for longer. That’s a big win for Slow Fashion!

Care for Your Clothing.

Give your garments a little love! Read the care instructions, and make sure to wash and dry them properly. Natural fibers often need special attention, so by taking these extra steps, you can extend the life of your favorite pieces. Plus, brushing up on basic sewing skills for simple mending can save your clothes from being discarded when they just need a little TLC!

Pause Before You Purchase.

Impulse buys can really throw a wrench in your Slow Fashion journey. Take your time when considering a new piece. Ask yourself: Does it fit my style? Will it work well with my current wardrobe? What’s it made from? Is it something I can see myself wearing for years? Will it be passed on to someone else when I’m done with it? Slowing down your decision-making can make all the difference.

By focusing on these three simple steps, you can significantly reduce your fashion footprint without breaking the bank. In fact, you might find that you save money in the long run while cultivating a wardrobe you truly love!

The Magic of Felt Play: Why It’s a Win for Little Imaginations

In a world full of flashing screens and noisy gadgets, there’s something refreshingly simple - and incredibly valuable - about felt play.

Soft, colourful, and delightfully tactile, felt toys spark creativity, invite storytelling, and offer openended play that supports a child’s development in the most beautiful way.

At Hattie and the Wolf, we’re proud to stock a stunning range of felt creations from Tara Treasures, a brand known for its handcrafted, ethically made toys that turn everyday play into a magical experience.

Why felt play matters:

1.Imagination & Creativity

Felt toys don’t come with instructions—which is exactly the point. Whether it’s a farmer’s market filled with tiny fruits and veggies, a fairy garden, or a sea of hand-stitched ocean creatures, felt play encourages kids to build their own stories, characters, and adventures.

2.Fine Motor Skill Development

Manipulating small felt pieces—stacking, sorting, feeding, or arranging—helps young children strengthen hand-eye coordination and dexterity, laying the foundation for writing, drawing, and selfcare tasks.

3.Sensory Exploration

Felt is naturally warm and soft to the touch. Its texture stimulates the sense of touch in a gentle way, making it a perfect tool for sensory learning and mindfulness-based play.

4.Safe, Sustainable & Ethical

Tara Treasures felt toys are handmade from 100% natural wool, coloured with non-toxic dyes and ethically crafted in Nepal under fair trade conditions. They’re safe for little ones and kind to the planet—a win-win for conscious parenting.

Some of our favourites in-store right now:

• Felt Food Sets – From bakery delights to sushi platters, they’re perfect for pretend kitchen or cafĆ© play.

• Farm Animals & Environments – Soft, durable, and endlessly charming.

• Themed Play Mats – Create entire worlds in a snap with beautifully detailed felt backdrops.

• Story Sets & Puppets – Bring books to life or invent brand new tales.

Whether it’s quiet time, group play, or a learningthrough-play setup, Felt toys add a layer of creativity and calm to any child’s day. Come explore our collection in-store or online, and give the gift of imaginative play that’s made to last.
