5 - schaar’s Bluff - Trailhead

With ample parking, Schaar’s Bluff is a natural trailhead. Head east from Schaar’s Bluff towards Hastings 10 mile loop or west on the stunning Mississippi Greenway Trail. The gathering center also has restrooms, park information, maps and outdoor fire-rings.

6 - spring lake park reserve - Bison Prairie

Breathtaking views and so much to do! Spring Lake Park Reserve offers hiking, skiing, biking, community garden plots, archery course, a model airplane field and a herd of 8 bison to view from three different paddocks.

7 - mississippi river overlook - west trailhead

The Mississippi River Trail offers 27 miles of scenic views along the Mississippi River from Hastings to South St. Paul.

8 - vermillion falls & old mill park

Located just off of Highway 61 on 21st Street East, the park is a treasure for picnics, exploring, and of course, viewing the spectacular 35 ft.Vermillion Falls and limestone ravine.

Further downstream is the Old Mill Park where ruins from the Ramsey Mill, built in 1856, still stand today.

The Point Douglas Regional Trail is a bike path that connects Hastings, MN to Prescott, WI. It also connects to multiple city, county, regional, and state trail systems.

10 - downtown prescott, wi - east trailhead

Part of the Point Douglas Regional Trail extends under the Highway 10 Bridge and winds into Prescott, WI. A small rivertown at the confluence of the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers.

Top 10 things to see on the Hastings Bike Trails

Hastings historic downtown area is located next to the Mississippi riverfront and right off the 10 mile loop. Explore local shops, restaurants, a brewery and a variety of entertainment including public art. It is a unique main street known for its fine Victorian architecture and old city charm.

The Hastings Riverwalk connects two city parks located right on the Mississippi River. Levee Park is a perfect spot for summer entertainment with a concert venue unlike any other. From May through September the pavilion, donated by the Hastings Rotary Club, fills up with live music, classes and outdoor movies!

Located on Mississippi River mile 815.2, upstream of Hastings, this lock and dam was constructed in 1930. It consists of a concrete structure 722 feet long with 19 tainter gates, 30 feet long. At the overlook, visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the river bluffs, soaring eagles and gigantic barges.

This dike separates Lake Rebecca and Spring Lake providing stunning views that give cyclists the feeling of riding on water. Every year, American White Pelicans can be seen in this area along with Sand Hill Cranes.
