This design studio focuses on Augmented Adaptive Additive Manufacturing (AAAM) to create resilient, unrepairable, affordable housing for multigenerational families in the Navajo Nation. The project begins with a research phase to understand cultural, social, economic, and environmental needs. Using 3D printing with locally made, carbon dioxide-based concrete, the design integrates traditional Navajo elements (Hogans) with contemporary features Parametric design methods enable real-time adaptability and customization, ensuring homes meet unique site conditions and cultural preferences that fit any location within the Navajo Nation. This approach significantly reduces construction costs and time, making high-quality, sustainable housing more accessible. Community engagement is central, fostering resilience and growth by involving Navajo families in the design process
This project was designed in conjunction with Luiz Trujillo.

The Adult & Pediatric Therapeutic Equestrian Center aims to foster community and wellbeing through equine-assisted therapy and additional inclusive activities. Located in Lubbock Lack Landmark, the center will promote a sustainable, nature-friendly environment. Accessibility is a key focus, ensuring a welcoming space for all. The design adheres to regulatory constraints like zoning codes, setbacks, and topography, creating a unique, harmonious experience with the natural surroundings

MATERIALITY
These materials were chosen based on their availability in the local area, especially around Texas Tech University campus and on their high environmental effectiveness. The Façade design of the building might have hybrid materials such as Hollow facades built with clay bricks and/or perforated sheet metal, which gives several concurrent effects - natural ventilation, daylight, views in and out, and sound absorption and more. multiwall polycarbonate panel will be used at the arena clerestory that permits controlled daylight into space.
COLORS
These colors were chosen based on their abundance in the surrounding environment, and in line with Texas Tech University standards

ANALYZING THE HUMAN ENVIRONMENT WITHIN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Humans’ perception of the built environment is based on our ability to interpret adjacent environmental forces affecting bodily senses. These two visualizations to the left illustrate how the idea of Therapeutic Architecture. To clarify, components of the built environment and the human health environment illustrate spatial, luminous, thermal, and sonic design concerning the human brain, mind, body, and behavior.

DESIGN CONCEPT
It aims to foster community and well-being through equine therapy and other inclusive activities, creating a welcoming and sustainable space that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.

This project methodically investigates current Deep-Water Culture (DWC) practices, designs a unique plant building, uses cutting-edge 3D printing for components, and assembles the final product in a natural setting. The collaborative effort highlighted the importance of technical skill, creativity, and teamwork This project was built in conjunction with whole class.
Responsibilities
[ Fall 2024 ] - [ Class Project ]
● Involved in the early research of Deep-Water Culture (DWC) systems.
● Involved in the design and fabrication team.
[ Spring 2025 ] – [ Research Assistant ]
● Currently working on developing the project, taking care of plants daily.
● Generating necessary documents and graphics for publication.
● Involved in designing and fabricating an Acrylic shelter for the project.

THE DESIGN PROCESS
The project aimed to design and assemble a pavilion for the Huckabee College of Architecture’s courtyard, utilizing the DWC system and 3D clay fabrication. The design evolved through teacher and peer feedback, focusing on optimized water flow, stability, and accessibility. Key features included channels for even water distribution, a robust base, and openings for easy planting.

FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY

Advanced 3D printing with clay was used for its durability, natural appearance, and sustainability. Clay pieces were printed, dried, fired, and quality-checked. The site was prepared by flattening and clearing debris. Modules were aligned for stability and water flow, and plants were securely positioned to thrive.

This interior design project transforms 3,000 m² (32,290 SF) of multipurpose space in a 4star hotel in Makkah into a wedding venue. The space is divided equally into male and female areas based on social needs. Each area accommodates 200 visitors and a buffet area. Decorative and tensile mirrors enhance the walls, creating a sense of expansion. I led the design process and generated the necessary drawings The client approved the proposal, and it is now under construction.
This project was a collaboration between Akram Alnahari and me, with me serving as the project designer and Akram as the project coordinator
