By Lorraine Forster, Ha-Shilth-sa Port Alberni - The sun broke through the morning cloud cover as a record number of players lined-up to register for the second annual Swing Fore Tlu-piich Games Golf Tournament held at the Alberni Golf Club. Nineteen teams were on the roster up by four teams from the first tournament held in 2010. The foursomes simultaneously teed-off following the shot-gun start format with each team positioned at a differ-
ent hole. The golf event is the major fundraiser for the games which made a comeback two summers ago. “The costs (of hosting) the Tlu-piich games kind of beat us and it became nonfunctional after a while so we are just trying to rebuilt it,” said Clifford Atleo Sr., Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council President When asked if there were any celebrity golfers on the course Atleo smiled and said they were all famous.
