Intersecting Houses
fall 2021 / individual work / 15 weeks project apartment complex
Interaction occurs through crossed lines of sight
Through the earthen floor (”Doma”) , individual lives blur to the outside.
Steps create inflection in actions and feelings
Different levels of floors separated by earthen floors (”Doma”) create a variety of movements.
Depth enriches the flow of life
With no depth, motions stay stagnant.
The slope of the roof creates a front and a back
Comfortable spaces are created by the existance of “private” and “public”. The roof express the direction of an openness to the community.
Rain Garden
The slope catches rainwater flowing from the north and the whole site works as a rain garden crushed rock soil

House in House
summer 2021 / individual work / 5 weeks project
Machiya (Japanese townhouse) rennovation
Client: a couple in their 60s
The old structure connect inside and outside gently
The spaces between RC structure and wooden structure become intermediate spaces which contain planting trees.
Glass paint makes waterproofing possible and creates beautiful views with old structures
Looking the wooden structure itself must be rare and beautiful experience.
1st Floor feels like a more spacial place by putting all the necessary functions of life in the ground floor
Clients can enjoy the bath and shower even though the bathroom is small
The floor for the shower room becomes bathtub and the steps become a bench.

summer 2024 / individual work / MA final project social housing to bridge residents with the wider community
Introducing human scale
The addition of a new module to the existing industrial module serves to emphasise the existing architectural value and create a sense of 'home'.
Gradual connection to wider communities
Each boundary facilitates integration with the wider community for those who find public spaces intimidating.
Design territories
Establishing designated areas fosters a sense of security and community among residents.
Void and structure representation
Voids enable the circulation of light and air throughout the structure, while also facilitating vertical communication. The original structure's aesthetic is preserved by visualising it.
