M for Medea: A Modern Story of Betrayal What makes us do the things we do? What are the consequences when love, jealousy and revenge are pushed to the extreme?

M for Medea is a contemporary retelling of Euripides' Medea, exploring the lengths that people will go to when they think they are right; posing questions that are often unanswered when experiencing love.

Featuring visceral movement interspersed with evocative contemporary language and a pulsating music score, M for Medea is framed within a simple, haunting stage setting.

A modern story of betrayal that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Created with composer Rob Manning, Sound Consultant Mikhail and Movement Director Hester Schrofer. Supported by Arts Council England and Rose Bruford College.

OTHELLO A tempestuous journey from scandal and intrigue to lust and vengeance.

Othello is a legend in his own lifetime: noble, brave, victorious. Honest Iago fuels his venom with malignance and hateful contempt. Othello’s world will be brought vividly to life as a live string quartet and stunning ensemble cast combine with some of literature’s most vibrant language and characters.

A dangerous tale of ambition, jealousy and love will unfurl as Shakespeare’s classic tale of deception hurtles to its dramatic and poignant conclusion.

ready and strips of cloths tied around their thumbs and forefingers, they gutted, salted, and barrelled the bountiful herring that were destined for markets across the world.

Follow the Herring is a unique national touring project which combines theatre and a visual arts project.

Echoing their journey, through captivating storytelling and atmospheric song, Follow the Herring as a project takes this tale back to the communities from which it sprang; and gives them the opportunity to participate in something quite extraordinary.

‘Get Up & Tie Your Fingers’ is a piece of theatre based on the 1881 Eyemouth Fishing Disaster, the worst to ever hit Britain.

The art project welcomes a knitted boat to Hartlepool. You can get involved in creating a unique community exhibition.

Focusing on a shared maritime heritage this project offers people the chance to share a special journey with us.

Together they form Follow The Herring.

Tickets for performances at the Town Hall Theatre (unless otherwise stated) are available from Hartlepool Art Gallery and Tourist Information Centre, Church Square, Hartlepool, TS24 7EQ. Open: - Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4:30pm; Closed Sundays and Mondays.

• The Town Hall Theatre is accessible via a ramp.

• There is good access to the ground floor bar.

• Accessible toilets.

• Induction loop system available plus dedicated spaces for up to 12 wheelchairs. (The theatre does not have a lift). If you have special requirements, let us know when you book your seats.

• Free parking only yards from the theatre (after 6pm plus weekends).
