INTRODUCTION IntheRemoveandFifthForm,students,withthe supportofteachers,HeadsofHouseandHouseTutors, willbecomemoreindependentintheirlearning,more criticalintheirthinking,astheybegintoexercise leadershipskillsandconsolidatetheknowledgeand skillsbasethatwillpreparethemfortheIBDiplomain theirfinaltwoyears.AtHarrowNewYorkwebelieve thatdeep,sustainedlearningisunderpinnedby relationships:studentswiththeirteachers,Tutorsand Counselorswhomanageeachindividual’sprogress,as wellasstudentswiththeirpeerswhowork collaborativelyinclassroomsandadvisorygroups.
IntheRemoveandFifthFormatHarrowNewYork, studentscompletethefinalyearsoftheInternational BaccalaureateMiddleYearsProgramme(MYP), refiningtheiracademicskillsandpreparingfortheIB DiplomaProgramme.Duringthesetwoyears,students developgreaterindependenceinlearning,critical thinking,andleadership.Thecurriculummaintainsa broad-basedstructurewhileofferingstudents opportunitiestoexploreareasofinterestingreater depth.TheMYP’sfocusoninquiry,globalcontexts, andinterdisciplinarylearningensuresthatstudentsare well-equippedforfutureacademicsuccessandlifelong learning.

Biology ThiscoursefollowstheNewYorkStateScienceLearningStandardsinBiology.It requiresstudentstocultivatetheirunderstandingofbiologythroughinquiry-based investigationsastheyexploretopicslikeevolution,energetics,informationstorage andtransfer,andsysteminteractions Laboratoryworktoillustrateandsupportthese conceptsiscarriedoutregularlyaspartofthiscourse.
Chemsitry ThiscoursefollowstheNewYorkStateScienceLearningStandardsinChemistry It exploresthecompositionofmatter,thechangesitundergoes,andthefactorswhich bringaboutandcontrolthesechanges.Laboratoryworktoillustrateandsupport theseconceptsiscarriedoutregularlyaspartofthiscourse.

Social Science (Option 1) ECONOMICS Thiscoursedevelopsanunderstandingofeconomictheory,terminologyand principles.Studentsstudytheeconomicsofdifferentcountriesandhowthese interrelate.Theyalsolearntoworkwithsimpleeconomicdataandtousethetools ofeconomicanalysis.
GEOGRAPHY Throughthiscourse,studentswilldevelopa'senseofplace'bylookingattheworld aroundthemonalocal,regionalandglobalscale.Studentswillexaminearangeof naturalandman-madeenvironments,andstudysomeoftheprocesseswhich affectedtheirdevelopment.Theywillalsolookatthewaysinwhichpeopleinteract withtheirenvironment,andtheopportunitiesandchallengesanenvironmentcan present.
