INTRODUCTION
An essential part of a Harrow education is to provide a varied and rich extra-curricular programme.
At Harrow International School Hong Kong, the Harrow Horizons programme immerses pupils in a vibrant menu of opportunities and challenges through sport, charity and service, expeditions, drama, art, music, entrepreneurship and academic extension. In essence, the Harrow Horizons programme encourages our pupils to step out of their comfort zones whilst undertaking new experiences and challenges.

We are proud to present our Lower School offer which promotes a breadth and balance to the wider school curriculum. Through the Harrow Horizons programme we aim explicitly to teach social skills and strategies and to provide further opportunity for our pupils to embrace the Leadership Attributes:
• Contributing positively to the community
• Applying knowledge with compassion
• Solving problems collaboratively
• Solving problems creatively
• Making fair and just choices
• Facing challenges with determination
We strive to develop pupils who engage actively with their learning, building new skills, independence, resilience and grit, and experience significant personal growth, enabling them to develop the attributes underpinning the School’s mission statement Educational Excellence for Life and Leadership.
This year – I am also delighted to announce that we will be integrating the Harrow Diploma into our Lower School Harrow Horizons programme.
The Diploma has the following six domains:

As part of the Diploma we will also have compulsory elements, which will be as follows:
Religious Education
Global Citizenship
Entrepreneurship
Public Speaking
Robotics
Wellbeing
The aim of the diploma is to ensure that all our pupils have the knowledge and skills that they need to thrive in an ever-changing world, while still giving our pupils the opportunity to follow their own passions and interests.
Our Harrow Horizons programme ensures that every child is given the opportunity to discover and develop their interests and talents, preparing them for their future, and contributing to intellectual, emotional, social and cultural growth.
Our Super Curricular Activities (SCA) are embedded into our School timetable, with pupils enjoying two SCA periods, one on a Wednesday and one on a Thursday. Pupils are encouraged to try a range of activities throughout the School year, stretching and challenging themselves and finding new passions and interests. Pupils have the opportunity to change their Super Curriculum Activities every term, allowing them to make the most of this diverse and enriching programme. Sign up for SCA is completed through our online portal at the end of each term.
Our Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) are the enrichment activities which take place either before School, during lunchtime, or after School, and are therefore outside of the School timetable. Pupils also sign up for the CCA sessions using our online portal. Further details of how to sign up can be found further in this brochure. Pupils are encouraged to commit to the CCA they choose for at least one term, attending the sessions weekly to ensure they get the most out of the activity.

THE SUPER-CURRICULUM
Harrow Hong Kong offers a wide and diverse range of activities as part of our Super Curriculum. Pupils from Year 1 upwards participate in two SCA sessions per week. Activities are geared towards developing skills and qualities both inside and outside the classroom. Pupils can select from the exciting menu of activities on offer from the different categories shown below.
We are proud of the opportunities we have on offer in the Lower School. Pupils can engage in activities that develop their skills and knowledge in particular areas of interest. Our Curriculum Leaders have designed bespoke activities which build on, and enhance, the curriculum we offer. We have an extensive sports offering, in which pupils can develop their team skills and enhance their sporting achievements. Our recently introduced STEAM activities provide pupils with the chance to explore technology and be creative problem solvers. Pupils develop their creativity, confidence and self esteem through the exciting Performing and Creative Arts activities on offer.
Leadership and the School’s Values are at the heart of our SCA programme. We encourage pupils to participate in charitable events and service. Through our Leadership and Charities SCAs, pupils take a leading role in supporting the Lower School Charity, Hands on Hong Kong, to enhance the lives of others. Pupils are encouraged to think like an entrepreneur through our Leadership and Enterprise SCAs, developing their curiosity, creativity and innovation.
Our Super-Curriculum Activities (SCA) Programme encapsulates all those activities that foster academic endeavour beyond the measurable outcomes of academic results.
At Harrow Hong Kong, we believe in our SCA programme and the added qualities that it can develop in a pupil so strongly that we have made it part of the School day. We encourage pupils to select different activities throughout the year from the different categories. We aim to develop pupils’ interests and provide opportunities for them to try something new.

At Harrow Hong Kong we are fortunate to boast a huge Co-Curricular programme. All the clubs, ensembles, teams and societies are a major part of School life.
We are committed to providing an outstanding all-round education and life beyond the classroom is an essential part of what we offer. We believe that Co-Curricular Activities broaden horizons, and instil a sense of adventure, leadership, teamwork and decision-making, complementing what goes in the curriculum and Super-Curriculum.
