Aqua Adventure: Kayaking and Sailing

This meticulously designed programme offers novices an engaging introduction to the exhilarating sports of dinghy sailing and kayaking, allowing participants to gain fundamental skills and achieve certifications in Sailing Level 1 and kayaking awards, including the Junior Kayak Starfish, Sea Horse, and Seal Course. Covering essential skills such as boat handling, rigging, and capsize recovery, as well as the basics of meteorology, the programme gently guides students through their sailing journey. Designed to engage young explorers, this structured programme allows participants to swim underwater while developing essential scuba skills and knowledge. To become official PADI Seal Team members, students complete the first five of 15 AquaMissions, each comprising a briefing, skill session, and fun activity. As they progress, participants learn through the PADI Seal Team video, AquaMission Activity Book, and guidance from their PADI Instructor. Completing these AquaMissions not only earns them AquaMission decals but also equates to vital skills from the Open Water Diver Course. Upon finishing the missions, students receive a PADI Master Seal Team certificate, recognising their achievements.

ROV with IEEE

Partnered with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the programme aims to educate students about the significance of marine conservation while equipping them with the skills to build and operate Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles (ROVs). Over the course of the camp, students will explore ROV technology through engaging hands-on workshops, starting with assembling a Mini-ROV. They will progress to constructing a Basic ROV from scratch, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills, before testing their creations in a pool environment.

The capstone event, the Marine Debris Showdown, transforms the school pool into a simulated oceanic arena where students will manoeuvre their ROVs to collect simulated debris, such as plastic bags and soda cans. This exhilarating challenge not only tests the functionality and precision of their designs but also reinforces the importance of technology in addressing real-world environmental issues. Upon completion, all students will receive an IEEE Certificate of Participation, recognising their achievements in ROV building. This experience not only enhances their understanding of STEM principles but also opens doors to further educational pursuits and competitions, empowering them to contribute positively to marine conservation efforts.

Set in the heart of the vibrant Hachimantai mountains, Appi Kogen serves as a picturesque backdrop, offering lush forests, rolling hills, and sparkling streams that create a serene haven for adventure and reflection. Participants will enjoy a unique residential school experience at AISL Harrow Appi, blending education, nature, and alpine sports in an inspiring environment.

Swiss Geography & Sustainability Retreat

This programme offers a wealth of hidden values, encouraging participants to collaborate as they tackle various challenges. Participants will engage with three key objectives: understanding sustainable practices and environmental conservation, developing outdoor skills while fostering a connection with nature, and promoting teamwork and leadership through adventure activities. These objectives will come to life through a variety of exciting experiences designed to enrich participants’ understanding of the environment and strengthen their collaborative skills.

Highlights of the programme include a visit to Europe’s highest zoo, exploration of the stunning Gorges du Durnan, and a guided tour of a ski lift to learn about the mechanics of ski resorts. Supervised mountain guides will lead nature hikes to discover the unique fauna and flora of the Alps, while mountain biking at 2,200 metres will provide breathtaking views. Participants will also navigate Europe’s largest underground lake, visit Swiss glaciers to understand the impacts of climate change, and explore a dam to learn about hydropower. Accommodation will be at La Tzoumaz Campus, situated at 1,500 metres, offering stunning views of the Rhone Valley and convenient access to lifts reaching the Mont-Fort glacier at 3,300 metres, making it the ideal tranquil escape in the French-speaking Swiss Alps.

The programme culminates in a compelling Musical Theatre production, tailored to the ages and understanding of the participants. The TechReady course offers a comprehensive journey through the world of technology, divided into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Technology and Me (Beginner) invites new explorers to connect with technology through entrylevel Guided Projects that encourage sharing personal experiences and interests. Students will gain foundational skills in HTML and CSS while exploring basic JavaScript concepts. They will create their own personal web pages, blogs, quiz games, and other digital artefacts, learning the essentials of web design along with critical digital skills such as design thinking, prototyping, and digital citizenship.

The following are the general policies and terms and conditions which apply to all our programmes, unless otherwise specified, to ensure the quality of our programmes, their administration and the safety of the participants and staff who take part in them. Please take a moment to review our policies and terms and conditions below.

1. CAMPS ADMINISTRATION

Applications and payment

● Places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

● Camp fees need to be fully paid upon enrolment. We have the right to exclude participants from camps for the non-payment of fees.

● You are asked to inform the office in writing should you wish to make any changes after the application is submitted. Please see below for our policies on withdrawals and change of booking.

● Booking confirmation will be sent to you by email. Camp reminders will be sent to you 2 weeks before the first day of camp. Please regularly check your email, including your spam folder, to ensure you receive our messages. If you’re not receiving our emails, check your junk mail and confirm that we have updated your contact details. We cannot be held responsible for missed camps due to unread emails or messages landing in your spam folder.

2. POLICY ON WITHDRAWAL, ABSENCE, CANCELLATIONS

● Participants who successfully enrol in a camp are entitled to a cooling-off period of 7 days from the date of purchase. For example, if a purchase is made on 1 July at 4 PM, the cooling-off period will conclude on 8 July at 4 PM. This period allows participants the opportunity to reconsider their enrolment and request a refund if necessary.

Summer and Winter Camp:

• Each booking can be changed only once and must remain within the same camp period, with 14 days or more notice (not counting the first day of camp), subject to camp availability.

• Full payment will be required for any price difference between the new selected camp and the original camp.

• No refund will be made if the new camp’s price is lower than the original booking.

• AISL Outdoor reserves the sole discretion to make decisions regarding the change of booking.

Holiday Camps:

• Rescheduling is not possible

Sick Leave / Injuries

No change of booking will be offered.

Inclement Weather & other force majeure

In situations where a participant is physically unfit to meet the camp’s requirements, provided we receive a professional evaluation or documentation from a registered doctor within 7 days from the date the parents/guardian first report the issue., Upon receiving this documentation, we will offer a change of booking or a refund. with the conditions below:

Change of Booking

You may apply to join another camp within the same camp period (Summer: 1-31 July ; Winter: 14-31 Dec; Holiday Camps: rescheduling is not possible.), subject to camp availability.

Withdrawal

80% refund will be offered if we receive your notice before a camp commences. No refund and change of class will be provided after a camp commences.

Bank charges to be borne by participants.

No refund or change of class will be provided, irrespective of the reasons after the camp commences. This policy applies to all cases of withdrawal.

Under inclement weather conditions (e.g. Red/black rainstorm signals, T8 or above) or other force majeure events, no refund will be provided.

Cancellation due to insufficient participants

● If the camp does not reach the minimum number of participants, as indicated on the registration website, two weeks prior to the camp start date, AISL OUTDOOR reserves the right not to organize the camp. In such cases, a full refund will be provided to all registered participants, or such participants may apply to join another camp within the same camp period.

Change of camp dates, times and venues

● AISL OUTDOOR reserve the right to change camp times, venues and dates at our discretion. Parents will be notified of any changes in advance as soon as possible. If the participant is not able to join a reorganised camp which may be held in a different timeslot or in a different location that he/she originally applied for, a full refund will be offered to all registered participants, or such participants may apply to join another camp within the same camp period.

Refund Request

● If you wish to make a refund and withdrawal request, you are required to submit a refund form through email within 14 days after we have provided you the form. If we do not receive the form within 14 days, your request for a refund will be considered forfeited.

● Refund will be made within 60 working days after we receive a properly completed and signed refund application form from the participants

3. PARENT AND GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

● Parents and/or guardians are responsible for the transportation, pickup and drop-off arrangement of the participants to and from the programme venue and the travelling arrangements including visa applications (if applicable) of the participants.

● Camps will finish on time. Please ensure you pick up your child promptly at the end of the camp. If your child is self-dismissed, you are required to submit the self-dismissal authorization form to us before the first day of camp. Without receiving

● Participants are expected to abide by the regulations of the facility. This will be strictly enforced, and we reserve the right to ask anyone who does not abide by the rules or behaves unreasonably to leave immediately. No refund or credit will be available under such circumstances.

8. PHOTOS / VIDEOS GUIDELINES

● AISL OUTDOOR coaches, teachers and staff may occasionally use cameras and take photos and videos during camps for use in promotional publications and on our website.

9. INSURANCE COVERAGE

● AISL Outdoor and its Operations Providers are responsible for the public liability insurance coverage. This specific third-party risk insurance is structured to offer compensation in the event of financial losses stemming from unfortunate incidents involving the death or bodily injury of a third party. These incidents are directly related to shared areas and facilities within the premises, including but not limited to elevators, staircases, fire service installations, and other communal amenities.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

In the event of adverse weather conditions in Hong Kong, the camp will be cancelled if it cannot proceed as scheduled. Upon improvement of weather conditions, the camp will resume promptly without the need for postponement or supplementary sessions. Parents are advised to stay informed through announcements on radio, television, or the “GovHK Notifications” mobile application during rainstorms and other extreme weather conditions. AFTER THE CAMP COMMENCES:

If there is heavy rain and thunderstorms, outdoor activities will be moved indoors for the safety of the participants. If there is heavy rain or other extreme weather that prevents the activities from proceeding as planned, we will shorten the day’s schedule or dismiss early based on the actual situation.

For camps in Mainland China and overseas, AISL Outdoor will adhere to local government orders and policies concerning public health and inclement weather situations. We reserve the sole discretion to determine whether the event will proceed, prioritizing the safety, health, and well-being of all participants.

PRECEDENCE OF ENGLISH VERSION

The English version of the Terms and Conditions shall prevail in case of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English version and its translation in Chinese or other languages.
