Profile

I possess five years of experience in the architectural field, having undertaken various responsibilities in assistant roles. Recently, I successfully completed the RIBA Part III examination in Hong Kong, which encompassed procurement strategy, contract choices, tendering processes, health and safety regulations, and legislation in both the UK and Hong Kong. This accomplishment has equipped me with comprehensive knowledge essential for project design and management, paving the way towards qualification as an architect in Hong Kong and internationally.

At Ronald Lu and Partners, I independently managed tasks and regularly updated the Chief Architect and Associate Architect. My duties included handling submission schedules, coordinating meetings, updating project documentation, and contributing to the design of projects like the Lee Garden Pedestrian Rejuvenation and the new school annex for the English School Foundation.

As a Lead Consultant, I coordinated with the entire consultant’s team, including traffic consultants, lands consultants, MEP specialists, facade experts, among others. Additionally, I handled statutory submissions to the building department, collaborating closely with draftsmen on the preparation of necessary documents. Furthermore, I attended weekly project meetings to report progress to clients and update consultant teams on project status. As the contract administrator, I participated in RFIs meetings to address design queries and bi-weekly site progress meetings, ensuring design quality remains consistent and provided comments on site work regarding health and safety issues as the representative of the AP.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my experience and vision align with the goals of your company.

Project 01

REPAIR THE BARN - ADAPTIVE REUSE

Location: Monyash, Bakewell,

Manchester

This project began with the concept of “Repair”, focusing on preserving the existing barn building without completely demolishing its identity due to its historical significance in the conservation area near the national park in Peak District. The design incorporates additional facilities, including a hostel and studio&social space and tourism, which are major economic activities within the region. The corrugated metal was extracted for site-specific elements to study the concept design by changing the scale of its profile, which was analogous to the arched partition wall in the social space.Overall, the design has to comply the sympathetical thematic criteria and be in harmony with the neighborhood local plan as adopted by the local council.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

The concave and convex profile are inspired by the corrguated panel which is amplified to create the internal and external wall of the building.

Local limestone reduces costs and speeds up construction. The polycarbonate roof optimizes daylight use, cutting energy consumption. Together with the corrugated panel these materials enable low-cost construction, shorter timelines and meet aesthetic standards

POST-HUMAN RESIDENCE

Post-Human Harmony: Exploring Intimacy Between Humans and Non-Humans

Site: Dunham Massey, Manchester

This project explores the intimacy between humans and non-humans at a site owned by the National Trust in England. It amplify the benefits of bees to humanity, which improve ecological environments. Together with dynamic natural species, they offer harmonious scenery to humanity, soothing innate congestion from the hurly-burly of daily life. The project conceives jute as an advanced sustainable material that defines an organic and dynamic tactile space, covered by the sturdy envelop after chemical treatment and ultimately a fantastic views and journey to visitors

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Space for Polinator

The space offers educational and social activities for visitors, emphasizing the creation of jute fabric. This forms an essential part of the journey and serves as a transition to the bee hive.

Accommodation for polinator keeper

This private living experience explores a post-human life, altering the relationship between humans and non-humans through the direct impact of bees on the habitat’s life.

Greenhouse

Intended for private gardening and public education programs, the typology transitions from a workshop to a greenhouse, maintaining the same social space. The plant area supports the growth of pollinator-friendly species, improving biodiversity for bees and other pollinators.

The fabric blends with the timber frame using traditional weaving techniques. The arch form of the timber, inspired by the fabric's behavior, creates a sculptural look that complements the natural environment. Moving from Dunham Massey to this new structure changes the scene from historical to unconventional. This evolution highlights the balance between material exploration and environmental adaptation in design choices.

Project 03

SOCIAL HUB - COMMUNITY CENTRE

Location: Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong

This project aims to establish a social space for the dynamic community in Tsuen Wan, where various spatial typologies are being developed and integrated into the existing district. The community centre functions as a social hub to facilitate interaction among individuals from diverse backgrounds. The design includes an uplifting envelope composed of angled perforated panels that create gradation along its perimeter, while vertical planters introduce seasonal aesthetics to enhance the entrance space on the opposite side.

Tsuen Wan’s master layout plan divides the region into old, renewal, and new zones. Development is progressing from the mountain side towards the seaside commercial and mixed-use area in Tsuen Wan West. The chosen site is in the renewal area near the new development in Tsuen Wan West. The design serves as a public vamenity, catering to people from various backgrounds. It energizes the region, harmonizes the social atmosphere, and provides indoor and outdoor public spaces to foster community interaction.

SITE

The diagonal axis, aligned with the development axis in close proximity, delineates the building mass and divides the box-like structure into three distinct sections. This segmentation is enhanced by the perforated angled panel on the building envelope, creating transparency between indoor and outdoor environments while serving as a shading device to filter sunlight and reduce heat gain during daytime.
