Dispersal Sale of

Bridgepark Flock for Messrs K & M Linklater Foreword The Bridgepark Flock was founded in 1976 with the purchase of females from the Lauderdale, Donan and Muiresk flocks. Subsequent acquisitions were made at the Barrons, Muiresk and Westfoulden dispersals. All of the current flock can be traced back to these bloodlines. Initial success included the Suffolk Championship at the Kelso Show with a ram lamb. Recently showing has been restricted to the Annual Peebles Show where the Suffolk Championship was won in the years 2003, 2006 and 2008. Shearling rams and ram lambs were consigned annually to the Kelso Ram Sales up to 2000 with the shearlings making up to £1000 and the lambs up to £1200. Since then the flock has been run on a commercial basis lambing in March with the aim to sell strong crossing shearling rams at Kelso and Longtown. Emphasis has been placed on good fleshing ability with fine black hair, tight skins and well-formed gigots. The Kelso lots have averaged up to £570 for 12. The flock is being dispersed as, with advancing years, we reluctantly need to take things a bit easier.

HEALTH STATUS The flock has been MV Accredited since the Scheme began. All animals are fully vaccinated with Heptavac P Plus. Ewes and gimmers require a prelambing booster. All recent sires used have been Scrapie Genotype ARR/ARR. All ewes were genotyped as part of the Scrapie Control Scheme. Since the demise of that Scheme only those potentially either ARR/ARR or ARR/ARQ have been genotyped. All those with both parents being ARR/ARR are presumed to be of that genotype. All ewes and gimmers were scanned on 18 December, 2012. Numbers of lambs carried are given as a guide only and are not guaranteed.
