SPOT THE DIFFERENCE
Earlier in the year, Clearview took a trip to Burnley for a VEKA Insight Day to find out everything about the new profile OMNIA, and all the ways VEKA works hard for – and with – its fabricator and installer partners. Suitably impressed, we came away wanting to find out even more, and started planning this supplement.
» WE NOT ONLY WONDERED WHAT ITS LIKE fabricate VEKA’s products and use its profile, but what are the peripheral benefits for businesses partnering with VEKA? During the Insight Day, VEKA opened its doors to us for a ‘no holds barred’ glimpse into what makes this business tick Still considered a family business, despite its global reach and success, how do these two elements combine when other companies work with VEKA?
From internal culture to the wider industry, VEKA has gained a well-earned reputation for quality of product but also valuable partnerships throughout the supply chain Innovation is at the heart of the company ethos – innovative products; technical know-how, a forward-thinking
approach to design and development, and that German precision and attention to detail
But the brand is also synonymous with its innovative business methods and models; approved partner schemes for installers and fabricators; support and service that is as stand out as any physical product the systems house extrudes What really makes the VEKA difference? We heard from VEKA itself but what happens when all those values are put into practice There’s no one better to ask than the partners and fabricators themselves, and now, through their own profiles you can find out too

16 WHO, WHAT, WHY, WARE?
The father and son at the helm of a diverse range of PVCu and aluminium domestic and commercial products
A partnership that gives every installer the edge
Jeff Dunn, Glazerite UK Group’s Sales and Commercial Director, shares how VEKA and the fabricator collaborate to deliver technical advice for installers
Glazerite’s customers range from commercial installers to sole traders focusing on home renovations To best meet their needs, we tailor our approach, working closely with our installer partners to understand their challenges, the markets in which they operate, and the demands of their own customers
For commercially-focused installers, that might come in the form of in-depth product knowledge or non-standard offerings, while domestic installers might look for added value in the form of marketing support Technical advice can be hugely important and beneficial for our customers, and we offer support in areas including product specification and the latest building regulations and compliance.
Partnering with VEKA gives our installers access to sound technical advice from VEKA Technical Director, Paul Kennington, and his team along with our own technical experts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and in scope and highlighting any concerns early on
Glazerite’s sales and technical teams also have access to VEKA’s WinDoPlan
This clever tool means we can assist commercial installers with drawings and design amendments and run scenarios on how the products will perform based on factors like frame design, wind loading, and installation postcode It means we can provide customers with insight at every stage of the project, from the initial tender to the final installation.
By being involved with our installers right at the start of projects, we can help prevent them wasting time and money further down the line Having input early means we can support with amends, suggestions and alternatives that can make a real difference to the project, determining
at quote stage if the frame design will meet the necessary criteria and current testing guidelines for all accreditations
Using WinDoPlan means we can assist in the design stage with the necessary technical cross-sectional drawings, using formatted drawings that can be dropped into planning tools with just a few clicks of a mouse
The invaluable support of Paul Kennington and the VEKA technical team was called upon recently for a customer looking to install 90 inline patio doors in a high-rise building, with our sales team concerned about possible wind loads Following a discussion with Paul, he highlighted a further issue with the number of hours of sunlight the dark foil doors would be exposed to It was suggested to the client that the specification be changed for more suitable French doors, which was agreed to, and the installation has since been successfully completed
Paul, who is an integral part of the GGF systems group, is a leader in his field and his knowledge and expertise gives our installers a competitive edge Alongside sound technical advice, VEKA also excels at sustainability, leading the way in delivering a closed-loop recycling system for UK fenestration through VEKA Recycling, based very close to our HQ in Wellingborough We often take customers and prospects to the site to demonstrate its incredible capability, and it never fails to impress In 2023, we agreed on a deal for virgin offcut material and frames for disposal to be collected and recycled, which will contribute to reducing waste to landfill and ensure that materials are kept within the UK
At the heart of the Glazerite-VEKA partnership is a desire to provide our installer partners with a broad choice of high quality products and tailored technical solutions, underpinned by a strong supply chain and exceptional customer service

VEKA’S WINDOPLAN IS A WINNER FOR WINDOW WAREHOUSE
» IN THE COMPETITIVE FENEStration industry, staying ahead requires a combination of innovation and efficiency.
PVCu windows and doors manufacturer, Window Warehouse has found a powerful ally in VEKA’s WinDoPlan software
Before teaming up with VEKA, the business faced a number of challenges that needed to be overcome
The first was generating accurate thermal calculations, which were critical to ensure compliance with industry standards The manual process of calculating U-values was time-consuming
Verifying whether specific window configurations were possible and ensuring that sizes met the required standards was another meticulous task that demanded significant time and effort
“Moreover, WinDoPlan goes beyond standard features, providing us with the tools needed for detailed cross sections and lifelike 3D images, significantly enhancing our design and visualisation capabilities This technology has become an invaluable asset in elevating our efficiency and precision in the ever-evolving PVCu industry ”
Neil Evans, Managing Director at VEKA plc, shares his thoughts on this milestone: “Precision Windows & Doors have grown like no other in their seven years working with us They promote and fabricate an extensive range of VEKA products with a commitment to high quality products and active involvement in our recycling initiatives It is the definition of true partnership Their dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction is commendable, and we are proud they choose us to support them in their journey ” Family-owned and deeply rooted in their community,
Furthermore, Precision’s partnership with VEKA Recycling highlights their dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. This collaboration not only benefits the environment but also reinforces their commitment to providing lasting value to their customers
We are honoured to celebrate this milestone with them, and it was fantastic to support them during their 20th anniversary open day where staff, customers and the wider community enjoyed a day of fun activities and good company
Congratulations to the entire team for their outstanding achievement and their unwavering dedication to excellence Here’s to the next 20 years of growth and innovation together!
In addition, creating detailed cross sections and 3D images was a complex process, often requiring specialised software and expertise
WinDoPlan was seamlessly integrated into Window Warehouse’s operations, addressing the challenges above
Dan Reader, PVCu Sales Manager at Window Warehouse, explained: “WinDoPlan has transformed our operations at Window Warehouse
“Its robust capabilities empower us to generate accurate U-value reports, ensuring our windows consistently meet the required thermal efficiency standards The software facilitates quick and reliable checks on window configurations, verifying that sizes are within acceptable parameters
Since adopting WinDoPlan, Window Warehouse has experienced a number of benefits, including a user-friendly interface that has ensured a smooth integration into their daily workflow
Because the software generates project-specific U-values, Window Warehouse can now tailor their products to meet the unique thermal requirements of each project
WinDoPlan also assists in determining the most suitable glass options to achieve a specific U-value, streamlining the decision-making process
By empowering Window Warehouse with a self-service solution, WinDoPlan significantly accelerates their processes, enhancing overall efficiency and responsiveness to customer demands

Closing the loop: How VEKA is leading sustainable fenestration
In the UK, VEKA Recycling is not just a waste collector or a recycler, but a collaborative partner leading the way with a genuine closed-loop recycling system.
We all have a responsibility to achieve net zero by 2050 Sustainability should no longer be a company buzzword; it’s a necessity For the UK fenestration industry, this means integrating robust recycling solutions that reduce waste, lower carbon footprints, and promote environmental conservation
Ensuring that plastic from old windows and doors is recycled and reused is a cornerstone of sustainable practices, and for the fenestration industry, it is particularly crucial The production process of recycling granulates causes 90% less CO2 emissions than manufacturing virgin PVCu This significant reduction in emissions underscores the importance of recycling in our efforts to combat climate change
VEKA Group, the global leader in PVCu window and door systems, has a long history of pioneering sustainability It began in the early 1990s with the establishment of the world’s first window recycling plant by founder Heinrich Laumann in Germany In 2006, a second recycling plant was established in France and a year later, VEKA opened a facility in the UK
Today, thanks to significant investments in facilities, operations, and technologies, in the UK, VEKA Recycling is well on the journey to developing a genuine closed-loop recycling system which is not
only reducing waste but also contributing to a sustainable, circular economy where materials are diverted from landfill and incineration, and instead reused and kept within the domestic supply chain
By recycling old PVCu windows and doors, VEKA is able to reintroduce the material directly into the production of new window and door profiles, without any loss of quality
Approximately 90% of the waste sent to VEKA is able to be recycled, with 60% being reformed into brand-new windows. When you consider that it’s possible to recycle PVCu windows and doors up to ten times, extending product lifespan to 350 years, the value of the raw material is more than evident
In fact, VEKA is proud to have saved 780,000 tons of CO2 through 25 million PVC windows recycled and produced 40 million windows with recycled cores
To support VEKA’s mission to ensure that sustainability is at the core of the industry, VEKA’s Recycling’s facility in Wellingborough has had a £15m investment, enhancing its capacity and efficiency In 2024, VEKA Recycling and VEKA plc were brought under one Board, aligning the two businesses under this shared goal
The strategy is to develop a collaborative approach to the recycling supply chain that is as efficient and streamlined as possible, with the systems and procedures in place to make recycling standard within the industry The Wellingborough facility was designed with expansion in mind VEKA is increasing capacity to be able to process 25,000 tonnes of waste PVCu – up from our existing 18,000 tonne capacity – each year, enabling it to support thousands more businesses
VEKA Recycling’s approach takes away barriers for window
fabricators, installers, and waste companies throughout the UK, ensuring that old and discarded window and door profiles are able to be recycled
Its unique approach provides fabricators and installers with a ready-made partner that can demonstrate an audited trail back to the point of recycling
Increased recycling is also good for VEKA’s customers, who are increasingly conscientious about the sustainability of the products they use Knowing that their old windows will become new products within weeks of being removed, and that their new windows are made from recycled materials, can be a major influence on their purchasing decisions
Not only does VEKA offer the highest quality recycled windows available on the market, but also is also enhancing customer relationships by offering them a seamless, consistent level of service which helps their business to grow
Despite successes so far, VEKA understands that the job is far from complete. There is still a way to go in creating a completely sustainable country
Unlocking the full potential of closed-loop recycling relies on support from the entire industry
Together we can ensure sustainability is front and centre of the agenda and strive to make further advancements

KING OF THE JUNGLE FOR 26 YEARS
KAT has been manufacturing VEKA Sliding Patio Doors since 1998.
Since inception, KAT has been a specialist uPVC fabricator of sliding products and for the last 10 years fully mechanical flush casements too. Even from our formative years, when we became the first truly national uPVC patio door supplier, our focus has always been on low volume, high quality We aim to provide our customers with outstanding, hand-built products, that offer them high margin opportunities with their customers
We are not a ‘jack of all windows and doors’ because handmade products take much longer to craft than those produced on an automated line We like to say our
process is ‘handraulic’ and it takes months to train a new craftsman to make our products Because of our niche focus on very high quality, we decided some time
ago not to chase volume and we only work with a handful of hand-picked installers, who demand the highest quality, coupled with extremely personal service We carry out regular NPS surveys to measure our
performance and always score above +70, which is considered a world leading result
We are very proud to be able to provide a sustainable living for our 30 employees, who all live locally and most have worked at KAT for over 15 years Like others, we recognise committed people are the key to our success and it is very rare that anyone leaves us for potentially greener pastures. Throughout the last 26 years VEKA Halo has been our uPVC systems partner and the relationship has been very successful

SMOOTH OPERATIONS ON THE SOUTH COAST
Window Warehouse has been a trusted supplier of UPVC and aluminium window and door systems on the South Coast for over 37 years. Under the leadership of Managing Director Malcolm Cake, the family-run business has expanded and diversified its product offerings, establishing a strong presence in both the domestic and commercial markets His son, Remi Cake has been with the company for 12 years, starting in sales and now serving as Operations Director, overseeing the dayto-day running of the business The last four years have been extremely significant for Window Warehouse as the company has grown from around 20 to over 90 staff members, all while maintaining its core family values.
These past four years have been particularly transformative for Window Warehouse, moving all aluminium production into a dedicated factory allowing them to boost output and keep outstanding lead times Along with a new factory the expansion also allowed for a separate sales office and increased members of staff to keep up with demand The demand this year has meant Window Warehouse needed to introduce night shifts to maintain the quick turnaround, replicating the high demand they saw in 2020 during Covid-19
The dedicated aluminium factory has allowed Window Warehouse to take on large-scale commercial projects, along with manufacturing two new patio doors this year The expansion also allowed for a whole area dedicated to both the Flush Sash and Vertical Sliding Windows, both of which are sourced from Veka. Flush Sash Windows has been a hugely popular product for Window Warehouse over the last four years due to its versatility and demand for traditional-looking homes
This year they introduced Kubu Smart Security as standard to its UPVC windows to be able to offer a suited secure home In an era where technology is seamlessly integrated into our daily lives, Window Warehouse felt it only seemed right that homeowners enjoy the benefits of smart solutions when it comes to security Their customers can rest assured that they’re getting premium-quality doors and windows equipped with smart security features that meet the demands of modern living Customers are always at the forefront of Window Warehouse’s mind and offering Kubu not only enhances their products but allows their installers to stand out from the competition
Window Warehouse takes pride in delivering excellent quality and customer service Added benefits such as free delivery, unmarked vans, and dedicated recycling skips reflect their care for customers and the environment Their recycling system is encouraged for all to use throughout projects and reminds their local customers of the importance of being environmentally conscious
Window Warehouse also ensures engagement with the local community, and their sponsorships are a big part of this They have been sponsoring
professional boxer Mark Chamberlain since the beginning of his career, whilst he has now completed two successful fights in Saudi Arabia Other sponsorships include Fareham and Crofton Cricket Team, Havant Rugby, Portsmouth FC, and the Friends Fighting Cancer organisation, where members of staff get involved in raising money through challenges across the year
To stay competitive, they ensure reinvestment within the business, both factories are equipped with up-to-date machinery, ensuring they can provide the latest in windows and doors A smooth operation system is a must with scan stations throughout the factories ensuring projects move smoothly from start to finish.
One of their latest innovations is their trade app which is designed to streamline customers’ processes Launched in May 2023, the app offers access to a range of features such as brochures, survey information, installation manuals, and the latest news from Window Warehouse The most useful feature is the ‘report a fault’ feature, which allows installers to report an issue whilst on-site Their customer service team is notified immediately, allowing them to deal with the problem as quickly and efficiently as possible
As Window Warehouse looks ahead, the next step for them is integrating AI technology With AI becoming increasingly popular within our everyday world Window Warehouse feels they can’t miss out The aim is to maximise operations in many areas of the business, whilst also benefiting current and future customers They look to continue focusing on growing and investing in new products, operations, their team, and technology
For over 37 years Window Warehouse has been providing the industry with quality doors and windows for all UPVC and Aluminium jobs. Whether you are looking to complete new builds, refurbishments, commercial or residential projects Window Warehouse is there to guide you every step of the way. 7-10 DAY TURNAROUND FOR PVC WINDOWS & ALUMINIUM BI-FOLDS 24 HOUR QUOTE TURNAROUND SECOND TO NON CUSTOMER CARE 10 YEAR GUARANTEE ON ALL PRODUCTS
