FAFSA The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form completed by current and prospective college students in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS

ENDORSEMENT Endorsements consist of a related series of courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set. They provide students with in-depth knowledge of a subject area. Students must select an endorsement in the ninth grade. There are 5 areas students can choose from: Arts and Humanities, Business and Industry, Multidisciplinary Studies, Public Service, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

CTE Career and Technical Education programs offer a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content. CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.

Students must apply for the FAFSA every academic year for as long as they are enrolled in a college or university. Applicants must be citizens of the United States or eligible non-U.S. citizens, hold a valid Social Security number, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Alongside federal grants, loans, and workstudy aid, the FAFSA is also used to determine eligibility for state and institutional scholarships.

HONORS Honors classes offer the same curriculum as regular classes but are tailored for high-achieving students — covering additional topics or some topics in greater depth.
