Design For The User Whether it is a product, system or service, a designer designs ultimately for the end user. It includes the functional, experiential, experiential and sensorial aspects of the interaction between the user and the space or product.

Design is not a mere solution to a problem, but a way of resolving it”.

Where artists evoke emotions through instinctive work, a designer employs a methodical, data-driven process to ensure a specific response. It is hence, crucial to create designs that not just exists or functions, but engage and enrich - to synergize critical-thinking with cognitive psychology.

02 Three designs were proposed, out of which the 01 and 02 were decided to be prototyped in-scale and tested for a year, and the final one to be scaled up to 100 workbenches to be used in the facility, with required changes.

The challenge was to create a product that showcases the capabilties of laser-cutting.

Hence, a series of three different scaled products was designed that showcases the intricacies possible through laser-cutting, from a 150x150mm coaster to a 600x600mm coffee table.

The 78,000 sqft facility with a number of workshops, open to public 24/7 comes with several challenges, one of them being space-crunch. The space is programmed to be constantly dynamic, hence a need to design a convertible, lockable shelf-desk for flexible work-space.

APPROACH • The approach while starting the assignment was to first begin by acting as the user itself and understanding the process followed currently for such a task to recognize pain points, gaps and opportunities of organizing the data, and eventually, how it would then help in minimizing repeated details and following up with updates.

• Another design approach figured out early on was to put down a list of assumptions of the tasks-flow to narrow down the scope of improvement

How Might We approach ‘How Might We’ is a design thinking activity used to translate problems into opportunities for strategizing and iterating the experience we ought to build. This process gets the creativity flowing and encourages to think about the problem with different perspectives.

Text Summarization

Identifies entities such as people, locations, organizations, dates, etc. from the text.

To summarize large chunks of text, using extraction , summary using parts of the text, and abstraction, creating summary by generating text that conveys the crux of the original text.

Could be used for: compiling data from scattered sources and auto-enter repetitive data across the platform area calculation

The idea was to derive inspiration from certain elements and motifs of Roman architecture, such as the Corinthian, Ionic, and Doric orders of columns.
