Analysis
Design Issue
The changes in the function of public spaces in Malaysia were identified to decrease the quality of social and cultural activites in Petaling Street. Therefore, the street market project could be a catalyst in exploring the way to exploit public spaces in urban area as key element to drive social interaction in Petaling Street, while at the same time, make good of the existing cultural and social belief held by the site settlers. The relationship between the characteristics of the public space and visitor retention will be improved through the initiation of this project. In terms of social interaction, user’s actvities were interrelated with the socialibility of the urban paces. On the other hand, the internal factor that contribute to the number of visitors in Petaling Street may be of their accompanying traveler (solo traveler).
