Message from Minister of Housing and Local Government

YB Nga Kor Mi N g

It gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners Association (MIIP) on the celebration of its 15th anniversary.

Over the years, MIIP has established itself as a unifying force within Malaysia’s interior fit-out and built environment sector. Your continuous commitment to raising industry standards, fostering professionalism, and promoting innovation has significantly contributed to the country’s construction ecosystem and economic development. Malaysia’s economy continues to show resilience and potential — creating new opportunities for the interior and design industries. Recent data shows that the Industrial Production Index (IPP) for March 2025 recorded a 3.2% growth, led by a 4.0% increase in manufacturing output. This momentum reflects continued demand for products, components, and services that directly support interior and architectural industries.

Malaysia also attracted RM190.3 billion in approved investments in the first half of 2025 across manufacturing, services, and primary sectors — generating over 89,000 new jobs. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate remains low at 3.4%, and inflation at a modest 1.5%, underscoring stable consumer confidence and a conducive environment for business expansion.

These figures highlight the positive outlook for Malaysia’s built environment and, by extension, for MIIP’s members — from designers and suppliers to contractors and solution providers. The growing pace of urban development, supported by the government’s housing and infrastructure initiatives, will continue to fuel demand for quality interiors that combine functionality, sustainability, and aesthetic value.

As the industry moves forward, I encourage MIIP and its members to champion sustainability through the adoption of eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and responsible design practices in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan. Continue to embrace digitalisation and innovation by integrating new technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), modular construction, and smart interior solutions. It is important for MIIP to work together with stakeholders to strengthen collaboration with government agencies and regulatory bodies to uplift industry standards and position Malaysia as a regional leader in the interior fit-out industry.

On behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, I commend MIIP for its dedication and contribution to Malaysia’s interior industry. May this 15th anniversary mark

not only a milestone of success but also the beginning of a new chapter of excellence, creativity, and growth. Congratulations once again and may MIIP continue to flourish for many more years to come.

Message from Minister of Works

YB Dato’ Sri a lexa ND er Na N ta l i N ggi

It gives me great pleasure to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners (MIIP) on the occasion of its 15th Anniversary. This milestone marks not only a celebration of MIIP’s journey but also the collective progress of Malaysia’s interior design and furnishing industry, which continues to contribute significantly to the nation’s built environment and creative economy.

Over the past fifteen years, MIIP has played an integral role in uniting diverse stakeholders comprising designers and manufacturers to suppliers and contractors, all under one common vision – to elevate the standards, professionalism, and sustainability of Malaysia’s interior industry. Through collaboration, advocacy, and innovation, MIIP has strengthened the bridge between design and development, ensuring that our interior spaces not only reflect functionality and beauty but also embody Malaysia’s identity, craftsmanship, and creativity.

The Ministry of Works recognises the importance of this sector as a vital component of the construction and design

ecosystem. The interior industry enhances the value of our buildings, influences how people live and work, and supports a wide range of local industries, including timber, furniture, and materials manufacturing. In line with Malaysia’s commitment to advancing sustainable development and green infrastructure, the Ministry encourages continued innovation in interior solutions that are energy-efficient, environmentally responsible, and futureready.

As MIIP commemorates its 15-year journey, I applaud its members and partners for their unwavering dedication and passion in shaping the spaces that define our daily lives. I am confident that MIIP will continue to lead with creativity, integrity, and vision — championing excellence and reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for interior design and industry collaboration. Congratulations once again to MIIP on this remarkable milestone. May the next chapter bring even greater achievements, deeper partnerships, and continued contributions toward building a more sustainable and inspiring Malaysia.

Message from Chairman of CIDB Malaysia

YB Dato’ i r. Haji Yu S uf B i N Haji aBD Wa H a B

It gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners (MIIP) on its 15th Anniversary celebrations. This milestone represents not only the success of MIIP as an organisation but also the collective progress of Malaysia’s interior and construction ecosystem in advancing design excellence, quality, and sustainability. The interior industry plays a pivotal role in shaping the built environment - transforming spaces into functional, aesthetic, and human-centric environments that enrich our daily lives. As a valued partner within Malaysia’s construction value chain, MIIP has continuously championed collaboration among designers, manufacturers, contractors, and suppliers, driving synergy and professionalism across the sector.

Over the past fifteen years, MIIP has demonstrated strong leadership in uniting industry stakeholders, promoting best practices, and fostering innovation that aligns closely with CIDB’s vision of a progressive, sustainable, and resilient

construction industry. Through its initiatives and advocacy, MIIP has contributed meaningfully to elevating workmanship standards and supporting local talent development, both of which are essential to maintaining Malaysia’s competitive edge in the regional market.

As we embrace the era of digital transformation and sustainable construction, I encourage MIIP to continue being a catalyst for change and inspire the adoption of green design, innovative materials, and advanced technologies that redefine how we build and live. CIDB looks forward to deepening our collaboration with MIIP to strengthen industry capabilities and create a more integrated ecosystem that delivers quality, safety, and sustainability for all Malaysians.

On behalf of CIDB Malaysia, I commend MIIP for its dedication, leadership, and contributions to Malaysia’s interior and construction landscape. Congratulations once again on this important milestone, and I wish MIIP continued success in shaping the next chapter of Malaysia’s interior industry with passion, integrity, and innovation.

Message from President, Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM)

aD ju N ct Prof. a r. aD ria N ta a ziz

On behalf of Pertubuhan Akitek

Malaysia (PAM), it gives me great pleasure to extend our warmest congratulations to the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners Association (MIIP) on the momentous occasion of your 15th Anniversary. This milestone is not only a celebration of MIIP’s enduring journey but also a reflection of your unwavering dedication, innovation, and contribution to the advancement of Malaysia’s building and interior industry.

Over the past fifteen years, MIIP has exemplified the power of collaboration and professionalism. The association has successfully united a diverse community of interior product suppliers, manufacturers, and professionals under one shared vision — to elevate standards, champion innovation, and promote excellence within the built environment. Your efforts have enriched the design ecosystem, bridging the gap between creativity and craftsmanship, and fostering meaningful partnerships that strengthen the entire industry value chain.

PAM is proud to share in this journey of progress with MIIP. As architects, we deeply value the synergy between architecture and interior design — two disciplines that together shape the way people live, work, and experience space. The interior industry, through its artistry, materiality, and attention to human experience, brings architecture to life. MIIP’s commitment to nurturing quality, design integrity, and sustainability complements the architectural mission of creating environments that are not only functional but also inspiring and transformative.

As Malaysia’s built environment continues to evolve, our challenges and opportunities are also growing.

The post-pandemic era has reminded us of the importance of adaptability, sustainability, and resilience in design and construction.

The future of our industry depends on how well we can embrace innovation — in technology, materials, and design thinking — while remaining grounded in values of collaboration and shared purpose. In this regard, MIIP’s role remains

vital. Your platform continues to encourage knowledge sharing, foster creativity, and champion ethical practices, ensuring that the Malaysian interior industry remains globally competitive and locally relevant.

This 15-year milestone is not merely a marker of time but a celebration of vision, perseverance, and community. MIIP’s achievements are a testament to the passion of its members and the strong leadership that has guided the association through evolving industry landscapes. As you look ahead, may MIIP continue to grow as a beacon of excellence, inspiring the next generation of designers, suppliers, and partners to innovate with integrity and purpose.

On behalf of PAM and the architectural fraternity, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for MIIP’s continuous support, collaboration, and friendship throughout the years. Together, we share a common aspiration — to elevate Malaysia’s building industry and to create a built environment that reflects our nation’s identity, creativity, and aspirations.

Congratulations once again to MIIP on your 15th Anniversary. May this celebration mark the beginning of another exciting chapter filled with innovation, progress, and meaningful partnerships. PAM looks forward to continuing this collaborative journey towards a brighter, more sustainable, and inspiring future for Malaysia’s built environment.

“Together, we build a future of innovation, integrity, and inspiring design excellence.”

Message from MIIP President

e lvi N t a Y (2023- P re S e N t)

As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners (MIIP), it is with immense pride and gratitude that I reflect on how far we have come as a collective initiative. What began as a vision to unite Malaysia’s interior design and furnishing community has evolved into a powerful platform that connects professionals, nurtures innovation, and drives the growth of an entire ecosystem.

Over the years, MIIP has brought together the many voices that shape our interiors — from designers, manufacturers, and suppliers to retailers and contractors. Through strategic collaboration, we have strengthened the bonds between creativity and commerce, ensuring that the Malaysian interior industry continues to thrive both locally and globally.

Our journey has not been without challenges, but every step has been guided by a shared belief: that together, we are stronger. MIIP’s initiatives, partnerships, and advocacy efforts have consistently aimed to uplift standards, encourage knowledge exchange, and support sustainable practices across the industry. More importantly,

we have built a community that values integrity, craftsmanship, and excellence.

As we look ahead, MIIP remains steadfast in its mission to elevate Malaysia’s standing as a regional hub for interior design and manufacturing. The next chapter will focus on fostering innovation through digital transformation, advancing sustainability in design, and empowering the next generation of industry professionals.

This 15th anniversary is not just a celebration of our past — it is a reaffirmation of our purpose and passion for the future. On behalf of MIIP, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our founding leaders for your visionary leadership and all our members, partners, and collaborators who have journeyed with us. Your trust and commitment continue to inspire us to aim higher and go further.

Let MIIP be the bridge that connects builders, designers, suppliers, and innovators toward a shared goal which is to uplift the industry, one member at a time.

Together, let us continue to design, build, and transform spaces that reflect the best of Malaysian creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration.

Fifteen Years Strong: A Journey of Unity, Growth, and Purpose

From a small network of builders to a leading industry voice, the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners (MIIP) celebrates 15 years of shaping Malaysia’s interior design and build ecosystem — with a vision anchored in collaboration, professionalism, and shared progress.

When the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners (MIIP) was founded in 2010, it began not as a grand institution but as a simple idea — that Malaysia’s interior builders, suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers could achieve far more together than apart.

At a time when the interior fit-out industry was often overshadowed by architecture and construction, MIIP’s founders saw the need for a collective voice — one that could represent the interests of those who bring interiors to life.

Fifteen years later, that vision has become a reality. Today, MIIP stands as a unifying force for the nation’s interior ecosystem, connecting contractors, designers, suppliers, and manufacturers through education, advocacy, and community.

“MIIP was created to give our industry a voice — to ensure interior professionals are recognised for their craftsmanship, innovation, and contribution to the built environment,” says Elvin Tay, MIIP President (2023–2025).

“Fifteen years on, that mission remains unchanged — but our reach, impact, and confidence as a community have grown tremendously.”

Marking a Milestone Year

In 2025, MIIP celebrates its 15th anniversary — a defining milestone in its journey of growth and unity.

The celebrations will culminate in the MIIP 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner, taking place on 21 November in Shah Alam.

More than just a formal gathering, the “Glitzy and Crystal” gala promises to be a night of pride and reflection — honouring MIIP’s founders, past presidents, partners, and members whose dedication and collaboration have shaped the association into what it is today.

The evening will also mark the official launch of the MIIP 15th Anniversary CoffeeTable Book, a commemorative publication chronicling the association’s milestones, achievements, and memorable moments over the past decade and a half.

“This anniversary is not just about looking back — it’s about looking forward,” Tay shares.

“It’s a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come while reaffirming our shared purpose to build an even stronger, more respected interior industry for Malaysia and beyond.”

Not Just an Association

What sets MIIP apart is its inclusive and interconnected approach.

The association represents every link in

the interior value chain — from builders and contractors to carpenters, fabricators, and material suppliers.

This diversity has become MIIP’s greatest strength. Through regular networking events, training sessions, and corporate visits, MIIP fosters collaboration and mutual growth among players who might otherwise operate in silos.

“Some people think competitors can’t work together,” Tay remarks. “But MIIP proves otherwise. When we share ideas, learn from one another, and even compete healthily, we elevate the standards of the entire industry.”

The association’s partnership with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) remains one of its most impactful collaborations.

MIIP regularly organises training, certification programmes, and safety seminars to help members earn or renew their CIDB licences — often at minimal or no cost.

These initiatives not only ensure compliance but also raise professional standards and strengthen Malaysia’s reputation for quality and safety in interior construction.

Defining Milestones

Over the past 15 years, MIIP has achieved many memorable milestones:

2010–2015: Establishment of the association and introduction of foundational training programmes for interior builders.

2016–2019: Expansion of membership, partnerships with universities, and participation in international exhibitions in Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Singapore.

2020–2021: Digital transformation during the pandemic — shifting seminars, member engagements, and collaborations online.

2022–2025: Renewed regional presence through participation in fairs such as ARCHIDEX, EFE, and the Ideal Architecture Festival Global Tour, alongside CSR efforts like the MIIP Epic Home Build and fellowship activities.

Each milestone reflects MIIP’s steady evolution from a local network to a respected regional platform — one that represents both the human and creative spirit of Malaysia’s interior industry.

Core-Strengthening Challenges

Like many associations, MIIP has faced challenges in sustaining active participation and keeping members engaged amid demanding business cycles.

“It’s not easy,” Tay acknowledges. “Our industry players are hardworking and hands-on. But what we’ve learned is that engagement must evolve — it’s not just about formal meetings, but shared experiences that create value.”

To address this, MIIP has revitalised its outreach — leveraging social media, digital newsletters, and a redesigned website to connect more effectively with members and the public.

This renewed visibility has led to new collaborations and growing international recognition.

In recent years, MIIP has been invited to participate in exhibitions and forums in Saudi Arabia, India, and Thailand, signalling global respect for Malaysian expertise and workmanship.

“These challenges have actually made us stronger,” Tay reflects. “They pushed us to modernise, to communicate better, and to remind our members that MIIP is not just an association — it’s a family.”

Advocacy, Recognition, and Professionalism

Beyond networking, MIIP plays an essential advocacy role — representing Malaysia’s interior fit-out and supply sector to government agencies and regulators.

“The interior industry is unique. It has its own challenges that are often overlooked in broader construction policies,” Tay explains.

“We are engaging with the authorities to ensure our industry’s voice is heard, and that fairer policies and standards are developed to

protect local players.”

Central to MIIP’s advocacy is the call for fair competition, particularly as more foreign companies enter Malaysia’s market.

At the same time, MIIP urges members to strengthen their branding, professionalism, and project management — key qualities for competing internationally.

“Professionalism builds trust,” Tay says. “When clients see that you operate ethically, deliver quality, and uphold standards, they remember you. That’s how Malaysian firms will stand out globally.”

Expanding Horizons

Looking ahead, MIIP’s vision extends beyond Malaysia’s borders.

The association is exploring partnerships with counterparts in Singapore, Indonesia, and other ASEAN nations — paving the way for a future ASEAN-Pacific Interior Industry Network.

“We want to connect our members to regional opportunities,” Tay says. “There’s so much potential in working together — in sharing expertise, sourcing sustainably, and promoting the ‘Made-in-Malaysia’ interior brand.”

Such initiatives could open doors for members to participate in cross-border projects, particularly in emerging markets like Cambodia and Vietnam.

“Our long-term goal,” Tay adds, “is to build a regional presence where MIIP members can thrive — not just as contractors or suppliers, but as innovators and collaborators shaping the future of interiors in Southeast Asia.”

Fifteen Years and Beyond

As MIIP celebrates its 15th year, it does so with gratitude — for its founders, members, and partners who have contributed to its success — and with optimism for the future.

From small meetings in Kuala Lumpur to international exhibitions and policy dialogues, MIIP’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved through unity and purpose.

“Our story is about people,” says Tay. “Fifteen years ago, we started as individuals. Today, we stand as one community with one mission — to elevate our industry, empower our members, and build a legacy of professionalism and pride for Malaysia’s interior industry.”

Message from MIIP Founding President

MIIP Founding and Past Presidents

Fifteen years on, it is heartening to see how far MIIP has come since its humble beginnings. What started as a small group of passionate industry partners united by a common purpose — to strengthen the voice of Malaysia’s interior fit-out industry — has today grown into a respected association representing a vital segment of the nation’s design and construction ecosystem.

The story of MIIP began even before its official establishment. In 2009, a year before MIIP was formed, there was an association called the Institute of Professional Designers Malaysia (IPDM), representing interior designers. Within IPDM, there was a dedicated sub-sector known as IPDM. IP (Industry Partners), which served as a platform for suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors supporting the interior design profession.

At that time, I had the privilege of serving as the IPDM.IP Joint Chairman with then IPDM Chairman Mohd Suhaimi Mohd Fadzir. The structure then was unique — the IPDM President would sit on the IPDM.IP Board, ensuring close collaboration between designers and industry partners.

A Vision Realised, A Future Reimagined: Strengthening Malaysia’s Interior Industry Together DATO’ VINCENT LIM

Back then, there were two major interior design associations in Malaysia — IPDM and the Malaysian Society of Interior Designers (MSID). These two bodies eventually merged to form what is known today as MIID (Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers). With the formation of MIID, both IPDM and MSID had to be dissolved, creating a need for a new entity that could represent the broader interior industry ecosystem.

Recognising this gap, the committee decided to establish a dedicated association to represent the interior fit-out industry. It took us about a year to formally register MIIP – the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners Association. I had the honour of serving as the founding president for four years, during which we expanded our membership and built the foundation for what MIIP is today.

Subsequently, we had a great line up of Presidents who continued to drive the association to what it is today, namely; Tan Goo Can (2015 – 2017), Janet Lee (2017 – 2019), U Man Liang (2019 –2021), Tong Shew Long (2021 – 2023) and Elvin Tay (2023 – Present)

Our first founding committee comprised a group pioneers Tan Goo Can, Steven Poh, Pauline Loh, David Cheong, Jimmy Tong, Lim Gao Liang, K.C.Lee and late Jimmy Predeep — who shared the vision that the industry needed a unified voice to address common challenges, exchange knowledge, and engage constructively with relevant government agencies and departments.

From the very beginning, MIIP’s objective, as stated in our constitution, has been to promote the advancement, professionalism, and sustainable growth of Malaysia’s interior fit-out industry — fostering collaboration among members, encouraging best practices, and elevating industry standards.

As we celebrate MIIP’s 15th anniversary, my hope for the future is to see the association grow into a truly nationwide representative body

— one that not only champions the interests of the interior design and fit-out industry in Malaysia but also expands its reach to the international and ASEAN markets. I envision MIIP becoming a recognised and respected voice of the industry, working hand in hand with the government for the continued progress and professionalism of our sector. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the founding IPDM.IP committee members who stood together to bring MIIP to life, and to all subsequent MIIP presidents and committees for their dedication, passion, and excellent work in strengthening the association over the years. May Elvin Tay, our current President, continue to bring MIIP to the next level of greatness through his vision and leadership, ensuring the association remains strong, relevant, and forward-looking for years to come.

I wish MIIP and its members, a hearty congratulations on your 15th anniversary — may the next chapter be even more impactful and inspiring.

TAN GOO CAN (2015 – 2017)

Past President

Building Growth Through Learning, Leadership and Lasting Connections

Since its inception, MIIP has come a long way and has achieved tremendous traction in its industry presence and as a voice of the industry partners. I am happy to have led MIIP and witnessed its growth over the years. No doubt, the association’s achievements over the last 15 years have left an indelible mark in the industry both locally and regionally.

Looking back on my tenure as President of MIIP, I take great pride in how we have always encouraged our members to continually upgrade their skills and professionalism because learning is a lifelong journey. Throughout my term, I have always made it a point to remind members that learning never stops — whether through MIIP’s own programmes, or through courses by Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) and Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB). By participating in these platforms, MIIP not only improved the individual competencies of our members but also elevated the standards of our industry as a whole.

At that point of time, one of the greatest challenges we faced was expanding our membership base. It was not always easy to convince new members to get involved, especially in the early stages. However, through consistent engagement — be it overseas trade visits, exhibitions, or networking events — we managed to create a sense of belonging and purpose within the association. I believe that personal participation is key to growth – when members feel connected and valued, they will naturally contribute more while also encouraging fellow industry partners to join the association. This contributed towards the growth and expansion of our membership numbers as well as increasing diverse skills and industry experiences within the organisation.

The initiatives we introduced during my leadership also helped strengthen MIIP’s reputation, both locally and abroad. Our activities — from study tours and educational seminars to MIIP Awards and Networking Nights — gave our members greater exposure and built long-lasting relationships among industry players. Regular dialogues with

CIDB and the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) also positioned MIIP more prominently within the professional ecosystem, allowing us to expand our influence and stay aligned with national development goals.

As I reflect, I am proud to see how far MIIP has come. The association’s growing recognition today is the result of continuous effort from every member, past and present. I am grateful to have played a part in that journey — one that champions professionalism, learning, and collaboration in Malaysia’s interior industry. I am confident that with continued commitment, innovation, and cooperation among members, MIIP will further cement its role as a key enabler of growth and excellence, shaping the future of interior fit-out and design in Malaysia.

I take this opportunity to congratulate MIIP for a very progressive and impactful 15 years. Happy Anniversary!

JANET LEE (2017 – 2019)

Past President Championing Quality, Collaboration and Credibility in Malaysia’s Interior Industry

Over the last 15 years, MIIP has played a prominent part in the growth of the interior design and fit-out industry. As I look back on my tenure as President of MIIP, I am proud of the efforts we made to elevate professionalism and quality within our industry. One of my key priorities during my tenure as president was encouraging MIIP members to uphold a higher standard of excellence in both our workmanship and our people. We achieved this by promoting the adoption of QLASSIC (Quality Assessment System in Construction) — an initiative that not only improved the quality of our interior build work but also strengthened industry confidence in our capabilities.

During my leadership, we also initiated meaningful collaborations and dialogues with industry authorities, including a dialogue session with Datuk Ir. Elias Ismail, Senior General Manager of the Construction Technology Development Sector at CIDB Malaysia. This engagement allowed MIIP to strengthen its connection with regulatory bodies and to align our practices with national construction quality standards.

Another significant achievement was conducting QLASSIC and CONQUAS workshops for our members. These sessions equipped practitioners

with practical knowledge and tools to implement structured quality assessment in their projects — empowering them to deliver work that meets both local and international benchmarks.

Needless to say leadership came with its share of challenges. One of the greatest was maintaining and growing MIIP’s membership base. Sustaining engagement in a dynamic and competitive industry required continuous effort. We addressed this by organising more dialogues, collaborations, and joint initiatives with our strategic partners such as MIID (Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers) and MBAM (Master Builders Association Malaysia). These alliances allowed MIIP to have a stronger, collective voice on issues that affect the broader construction and interior sector.

The initiatives and strategies introduced during my presidency helped reinforce MIIP’s position as a respected and influential player within the construction ecosystem. By promoting quality assurance and structured industry standards, MIIP advanced its reputation as an important partner in Malaysia’s built environment. It also laid the groundwork for the association to be recognised as a credible body that endorses bona fide suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, and fit-out contractors in the interior build industry.

As MIIP celebrates its 15th Anniversary, I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the association and its members — past and present — for their unwavering dedication and passion. May MIIP continue to champion professionalism, collaboration, and excellence, and remain the trusted voice of Malaysia’s interior industry for many decades to come. As we look ahead, I believe the foundation we have built will continue to inspire future leaders to innovate, embrace sustainability, and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in interior fit-out standards and design excellence. I wish MIIP many more years of progress, growth and innovation; and, may this 15th anniversary be testament to the power of collaboration and synergy.

Past

President Together Through the Storm: Celebrating

MIIP’s Spirit of Resilience and Collaboration

Iam proud to witness the tremendous growth of MIIP over the last 15 years. Serving as President of MIIP from mid-2019 to mid-2021 was both an honour and an immense challenge. It was a time that tested every industry leader’s resilience and creativity, as we navigated the uncertainties of the global pandemic. Yet, it was also a period that showcased the true spirit of MIIP — one built on unity, adaptability, and a shared commitment to keep our industry connected and moving forward, no matter the circumstances.

Looking back, I am proud of what our team achieved during this extraordinary time. We successfully organised one of MIIP’s largest Year-End Networking Nights, drawing nearly 200 participants — a milestone that demonstrated the growing sense of community within our association. When the pandemic struck and physical events became impossible, we pivoted quickly by conducting numerous webinars in collaboration with CIDB, DOSH, and various professional practitioners. These sessions kept our members informed, engaged, and inspired throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Another highlight was the recognition MIIP received on the international stage, when our

members were invited to participate in the Asia Pacific 1st INDE Awards. This honour reflected not only the credibility of our association but also the strength and talent of Malaysia’s interior industry professionals.

Of course, the pandemic brought its share of challenges — particularly in sustaining membership. Before COVID-19, our committee worked tirelessly to grow MIIP’s presence through regular events and recruitment drives. When the Movement Control Order (MCO) hit, we saw a dip in membership numbers, but our team refused to give up. Through regular online discussions and brainstorming sessions, we developed creative ways to maintain engagement — from virtual networking to online training, seminars, and workshops. Thanks to the unwavering support of our members, we managed to retain nearly all our existing members and even welcomed new ones during those difficult years.

The initiatives introduced during my leadership were guided by one key principle: collaboration. As our interior industry may not be among the largest contributors to the construction sector, it was crucial for MIIP to strengthen ties with established associations and government agencies such as Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM),

Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), Malaysian Furniture Council (MFC), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), onstruction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (DOSH), and Malaysia Timber Board (MTB). By building these bridges, we created long-term opportunities for partnership, knowledge sharing, and growth that continue to benefit MIIP and its members today.

As MIIP celebrates its 15th anniversary, I am truly proud of how far we have come. The association’s resilience and unity during one of the most difficult periods in recent history stand as proof of the strength of our community. My heartfelt congratulations to MIIP and all its members — may the association continue to grow, inspire, and lead the way for Malaysia’s interior industry in the years ahead.

Strengthening Foundations, Uniting Voices, and Shaping the Future of Malaysia’s Interior Industry

It is indeed amazing to see the progress and growth of MIIP over the last 15 years. From its infant years, MIIP has grown into a voice that is prominent in the interior design and fit-out industry. When I look back on my tenure as President of MIIP, I am filled with pride at how far we have come as a collective voice for the interior design and fit-out industry. One of my proudest achievements was positioning MIIP as a unifying platform that brings together all key players in Malaysia’s interior ecosystem — from designers, builders, and manufacturers to suppliers, regulators, and brand partners.

I am proud to say that, as a team, we strengthened MIIP’s foundation through strategic partnerships, capacity-building initiatives, and structured industry dialogues that empowered members to navigate challenges together. A key milestone during this period was MIIP’s success in bridging communication between the private and government sectors, leading to stronger regulatory engagement and greater recognition of the value that interior specialists contribute to Malaysia’s built environment. We also introduced initiatives that have since become part of MIIP’s identity — such as the MIIP Business Networking Series and the MIIP Gala Night, which created meaningful platforms for business

connectivity, cross-border collaborations, and the exchange of innovation among local and international members alike.

Of course, the journey was not without challenges. Leading MIIP through the post-pandemic recovery period was one of the most testing times for the industry. Many members faced supply disruptions, workforce shortages, and changing client demands. Our response was rooted in collaboration over competition — fostering a spirit of unity by sharing knowledge, resources, and opportunities. For the benefit of our members, MIIP introduced forums and workshops focusing on cost control, CIPA contract claims, digitalisation, and sustainable practices, helping members adapt and realign their business models to the new market realities.

We also worked closely with CIDB and other professional bodies to address the imbalance between design creativity and regulatory compliance. Through continuous advocacy, we pushed for clearer standards, fairer practices, and proper recognition of qualified interior builders — ensuring that the industry moves forward with professionalism and integrity.

The strategies and initiatives introduced during my leadership helped transform MIIP from a traditional trade association into a forward-looking

organisation that champions professionalism, collaboration, and international visibility. We established global linkages with regional counterparts, paving the way for cross-border cooperation and trade opportunities that showcased Malaysian expertise on the world stage.

Most importantly, I take pride in knowing that these efforts have laid a strong foundation for future leadership. MIIP today is not only more resilient but also more progressive — nurturing young talents, embracing innovation, and continuing to raise the standards of our industry.

As MIIP celebrates its 15th Anniversary, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all past and present leaders, members, and partners who have been part of this remarkable journey. May MIIP continue to grow as a beacon of excellence, unity, and professionalism for the next 50 years and beyond.

Step inside any Armarior-crafted space and you’ll immediately sense its philosophy — a seamless blend of sophistication, function and quiet luxury.

Founded in 2010, Armarior Sdn Bhd began as a humble workshop driven by a deep passion for redefining what Malaysian craftsmanship could be.

Artmatrix: Shaping the Future of Workspaces

From transforming an abandoned factory into a Green Building Index-certified facility to expanding into over 20 countries, Artmatrix is redefining how design, technology and sustainability can work in harmony

When Artmatrix Technology Sdn Bhd was founded in 2005, it began with a simple but bold vision: to combine creativity, craftsmanship and sustainability in designing better workplaces.

Today, the company stands as a global brand, providing innovative and environmentally responsible office furniture solutions to clients across more than 20 countries.

Headquartered in Balakong, Selangor, Artmatrix has grown from a modest local operation into an industry leader – a testament to its philosophy of balancing design, functionality and sustainability.

“We wanted to prove that being green is not a limitation, but a way to create smarter, more inspiring spaces,” says CEO Herbert Koh.

Turning Challenges into Catalysts

The journey was not without hurdles. Competing in an industry dominated by international brands,

Artmatrix had to prove that a Malaysian company could stand on par with the best in the world. Its turning point came when it transformed an abandoned factory into a Green Building Index-certified facility, a bold move that signalled its commitment to sustainability long before “green” became a buzzword.

Investment in research and development, combined with internationally recognised certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GECA, and MyHIJAU, helped build the company’s credibility and global reach.

By focusing on ergonomic, modular, and flexible designs, Artmatrix not only met the evolving demands of modern workplaces but also established itself as a trusted, forward-thinking partner for corporations and institutions worldwide.

Designing with Purpose

At the core of Artmatrix’s success lies its dedication to merging form with function. Its products, from the environmentally-certified Xenic Chair to the E-stilt Workstation, reflect a deep understanding of user comfort, efficiency and sustainability.

The company’s one-stop solutions cover everything from design and manufacturing to project management, offering clients convenience and confidence in every stage of their journey.

Recognition has followed. The UN Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei, Forward Faster CEO Award,

the Sustainable Business Award and the Brand Legend Larger than Life Award 2024 stand as proof of Artmatrix’s leadership in sustainable innovation and responsible business practices.

People, Planet and Progress

Artmatrix’s influence extends beyond business. Its operations have revitalised local communities, created employment and raised awareness of sustainable manufacturing in Malaysia.

“Our mission has always been to grow responsibly, to make sure our success benefits not just the company, but the people and the planet,” says Herbert.

As workplaces continue to evolve toward hybrid and collaborative models, Artmatrix is already looking ahead. Its future plans include expanding global operations, deepening the use of eco-friendly materials and driving carbon reduction efforts across its entire value chain.

For Herbert, the company’s journey is guided by one enduring belief: “Stay true to your values while adapting to change. Innovation and sustainability are not separate goals – they are the path to lasting success.”

Timeless Elegance, Contemporary Vision

Blending craftsmanship, quality, and timeless design, Ambient Living has been redefining the art of fine living in Malaysia since 2012

From its first showroom in Petaling Jaya, Selangor to a network of five showrooms spanning over 40,000 square feet, Ambient Living has grown into Malaysia’s foremost retailer of authentic luxury furniture.

Established in 2012, the company’s philosophy is simple yet uncompromising — to bring the world’s most distinguished furniture brands to discerning Malaysian homes.

“We are proud to be the sole distributor of original European brands such as Flexform, Cattelan Italia, Natuzzi, Art Nova, Vibia, Saloni, Flexlux, and Innovation Living,” says Managing Director Alan Leong.

What began as a single venture into highend furniture retail has evolved into a trusted name synonymous with design integrity and reliability.

Ambient Living’s growth, however, has never been about expansion for its own sake. Rather, it reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, and the creation of enduring value — principles that have guided every decision since its founding.

Quality Above All

In a market where trends shift rapidly, staying relevant without compromising on quality is a challenge — one that Ambient Living meets with discipline and foresight.

“The constant challenge in this industry is to stay relevant to consumer tastes,” says Leong. “It requires a growth mindset and the ability to

balance brand representation with strong, wellcurated showcases.”

Unlike many retailers that pursue quantity, Ambient Living takes a “less is more” approach.

The company focuses on a carefully selected range of brands, ensuring each is represented cohesively and meaningfully.

This philosophy allows for more comprehensive displays, better product availability, and ultimately, a superior customer experience.

This precision-driven approach extends beyond retail presentation. From operational efficiency to after-sales service, Ambient Living maintains exacting standards of quality control and customer care.

The result is a reputation built not just on luxury, but on trust — where promises made are promises kept.

Sustaining Growth with Integrity

For Leong, success is not only about expanding showrooms or increasing sales — it’s about cultivating lasting relationships.

“We’ve built a sense of reliability with our clients, whether they are retail buyers, designers, or architects,” he says.

“When issues arise, our priority is always to resolve them swiftly and responsibly. That’s how confidence is earned.”

Among the company’s proudest milestones is being the only Malaysian furniture retailer with two showrooms in The Gardens Mall, one of the country’s most prestigious retail destinations.

Equally rewarding is the strong sense of loyalty within the team — many of whom have been with the company for more than a decade.

Looking ahead, Ambient Living aims to introduce another iconic Italian furniture brand within the next year — further strengthening its position as Malaysia’s leading curator of premium European design.

Yet even as the company evolves, its core philosophy remains unchanged: focus, discipline, and respect for craftsmanship.

Leong’s advice to others in the industry is simple yet profound: “Keep close those who have stayed loyal through thick and thin. Stay true to your values, and stay focused on your goals.”

With that same spirit of constancy and conviction, Ambient Living continues to shape Malaysia’s modern interiors — proving that timeless design begins with timeless principles.

Where Ideas Meet Impact

From its beginnings in niche events to leading some of Asia’s most influential trade and lifestyle exhibitions, C.I.S has become a driving force in Malaysia’s BE (Business Events) industry — building brides beyond borders to connect industries to people and ideas across the region

Founded in 1994, C.I.S began with a simple but powerful mission: to connect governments, industries, businesses, and consumers through impactful exhibitions. What started as small and focused has since evolved into a trusted name in Malaysia’s BE landscape.

“Our goal was to create meaningful platforms that spark collaboration and growth,” says President Dato’ Vincent Lim, who has helmed the company through decades of transformation.

Today, C.I.S stands at the forefront of some of the region’s most prominent exhibitions — ARCHIDEX, Asia’s leading architecture business event and a central feature of the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF); HOMEDEC, Malaysia’s pioneer home design and interior exhibition; and ENGINEER & MARVEX, ASEAN’s Key Engineering and HVACR exhibition and conference for the built environment.

Each of these exhibitions serve as an industryfocused, knowledge-sharing and networking and collaboration among professionals, suppliers, and innovators shaping the future of their sectors.

The company’s homegrown exhibitions have also achieved regional success — with HOMEDEC in Jakarta and ARCH:ID growing into Indonesia’s premier architecture exhibition.

“Expanding beyond Malaysia was about more than scale,” Lim notes. “It was about building bridges between the creative and construction communities across ASEAN.”

Resilience and Reinvention

C.I.S’s journey has not been without challenges. Regional expansion required deep market understanding and new partnerships, while evolving customer expectations pushed the company to create more experiential and thematic showcases.

The biggest test came during the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought the exhibition industry to a standstill.

“It was a defining moment,” recalls Lim. “We had to pivot fast — embracing digital platforms, hybrid formats, and new ways to keep the attendees engaged.”

That period, he adds, reinforced the importance of adaptability and purpose. “Our role was not just to organise exhibitions, but to keep the industries connected and aligned with the national growth and supported when they needed it most.”

Today, C.I.S continues to drive innovation through carefully curated exhibitions, conference and forums, live showcases, and design installations – while nurturing young and emerging talent that brings depth, creativity and long-term value beyond traditional exhibition formats.

“We see every show as an ecosystem — one that connects people, ideas, and industries with networking and business opportunities,” Lim explains.

Leading Beyond Borders

C.I.S’s success stems not only from its strong portfolio of homegrown exhibition brands, but also from the enduring partnerships it has built and nurtured over the past 30 years – relationships that continue to strengthen them.

Number of Employees: 80+ across Malaysia and Indonesia

The company works closely with professional associations, government agencies, and industry leaders to promote progress, collaboration, and sustainability across sectors. Through its exhibitions, C.I.S has helped exhibitors generate billions in business transactions, strengthened entire industry networks, and enhanced Malaysia’s reputation as a regional hub for design and innovation.

Its initiatives continue to inspire young talent, foster creativity, and encourage sustainable practices within the industry. Looking ahead, C.I.S is focused on deepening its ASEAN footprint, advancing sustainability, and driving digital transformation through the adopting smart technologies in event management.

“Our ambition is to position Malaysia and Indonesia as hubs for trade, innovation, and collaboration across ASEAN and beyond,” says Lim. “Exhibitions are not just business events — they’re catalysts for transformation.”

Shaping Spaces, One Ceiling at a Time

From humble beginnings in installation work to becoming one of Malaysia’s leading manufacturers of metal ceiling and louvre systems, DML

Products Sdn Bhd has built its legacy on innovation, craftsmanship, and trust — shaping the look and feel of modern interiors for nearly five decades

The story of DML Products Sdn Bhd began long before its official incorporation in 2000.

Founded by Chong Kon Hee, the company traces its roots to 1975, when he began specialising in ceiling and partition installation.

Over the years, as Malaysia’s construction landscape grew in complexity and design sophistication, DML evolved in tandem — transitioning from a hands-on installer to a trusted manufacturer of metal ceiling systems and aluminium louvers.

What started as a small, service-driven enterprise has since transformed into a fullfledged manufacturing company with a strong presence in both commercial and government sectors.

This transformation was driven by a simple yet lasting belief — that quality and consistency create confidence.

Raising the Standard

One of DML’s defining milestones came with the development of its proprietary strip ceiling system, designed to simplify installation while improving structural integrity and aesthetic uniformity.

This innovation not only streamlined on-site work but also positioned DML as a leader in practical, design-friendly ceiling solutions.

The company’s portfolio has since expanded to include modular ceiling systems, aluminium composite panels, and custom louvre designs — all engineered to meet the demands of contemporary architecture.

DML’s success lies in its ability to balance technical precision with creative flexibility. By offering tailor-made solutions and maintaining rigorous quality control, the brand has become a

preferred partner among architects, contractors, and developers seeking both durability and design appeal.

“Every ceiling we produce represents decades of experience and a promise of reliability,” the company shares.

Building for the Future

Today, DML stands as a homegrown success story — a company that continues to evolve with the times while remaining grounded in craftsmanship and care.

Its products can be found in a range of public and private projects, from hospitals and schools to commercial complexes and office spaces, where they enhance both functionality and aesthetics. Looking ahead, DML aims to expand its

export markets, adopt smart manufacturing technologies, and introduce new products that align with global sustainability trends.

Equally important is its commitment to local talent development, with ongoing efforts to upskill its workforce and nurture new generations of industry professionals.

As the company celebrates over 20 years of manufacturing excellence, its mission remains clear — to craft surfaces and structures that not only endure, but inspire.

DP Ceramic: Redefining Tile Solutions in Malaysia

Combining technology, design and sustainability, the company is changing the way Malaysians think about ceramic and porcelain surfaces

Founded in 2018, DP Ceramic Marketing Sdn Bhd has quickly risen to prominence as a specialist in sintered stone tiles, porcelain tiles, ceramic tiles and imported furniture from China.

The company is the sole distributor in Malaysia for Foshan Dongpeng Ceramic Co Ltd, a renowned Chinese brand with over 50 years of experience in the tile industry.

According to DP Ceramic Executive Director Low Chin Guan, the company was inspired by the need to offer homeowners, businesses and project developers high-quality, contemporary tile options at fair prices.

“We wanted to address the issue of overpriced and outdated tile collections in Malaysia,” he explained.

“Our goal was to bring one of the world’s top tile brands directly to consumers and project owners, offering cutting-edge technology and modern design.”

Overcoming Challenges

Sustainable Design

When DP Ceramic first entered the Malaysian market, it faced a key challenge: consumer hesitation toward larger-sized tiles.

“At the time, not everyone was ready to embrace the trend of big-format tiles,” said Low.

To bridge this gap, the company adopted a proactive approach –organising seminars and talks for clients, designers, architects and contractors to showcase the benefits of large-format tiles.

DP Ceramic also leveraged social media to reach a wider audience and relied on strong wordof-mouth referrals from satisfied clients.

This continuous education and engagement strategy gradually shifted market perceptions, positioning DP Ceramic as a pioneer in introducing modern tile trends to Malaysia.

DP Ceramic integrates sustainability with design innovation, redefining how modern spaces balance aesthetics and sustainability. In collaboration with Dongpeng China, the company introduces advanced technologies such as continuous vein design, nano micro-engraving, and translucent sintered stone textures. These innovations replicate the natural elegance of marble and stone with exceptional precision, reflecting a new generation of sustainable craftsmanship in the tile industry.

The company’s efforts were recognised when it was named Building Products Specialist in the Architecture and Design Specifier Market in 2023 and awarded the Malaysia-China Superb Brand in 2024.

Looking Ahead

DP Ceramic continues to make an impact by providing Malaysian consumers and project owners with direct access to high-quality Chinese tile brands – bypassing middlemen and offering more value and transparency.

Engineered for Life

With over two decades of experience, Dynamic Furniture Industries (M) Sdn Bhd continues to set the benchmark for quality, innovation, and longevity in Malaysian-made furniture

When Dynamic Furniture Industries (M)

Sdn Bhd was established over 25 years ago, it was with a simple yet powerful vision — to create high-quality, durable furniture that balances form and function.

Inspired by Malaysia’s long-standing woodworking tradition and a gap in the market for reliable, contract-grade furniture, Director Khoo Yeow Chong began the company as a small workshop.

Over the years, Dynamic Furniture has grown into a recognised manufacturer and exporter, expanding its facilities and diversifying its product portfolio across the hospitality,

commercial, and residential sectors.

From its headquarters in Selangor, the company now serves clients in more than 15 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Australasia.

Khoo says this success stems from a steadfast commitment to integrity and quality.

“Our philosophy has always been simple — design and build furniture that lasts. When clients invest in our products, they’re investing in longevity and trust.”

Quality, Design and Operational Excellence

The company’s growth is anchored by three pillars — quality, innovation, and operational efficiency.

By combining superior materials with robust construction techniques, Dynamic Furniture ensures that every piece leaving its factory meets exacting standards.

Design innovation is equally crucial. The company continually evolves its products to meet modern aesthetic and ergonomic expectations, often collaborating directly with clients to customise designs for specific project needs.

Behind the scenes, lean manufacturing principles and state-of-the-art machinery ensure efficiency, consistency, and timely delivery.

Khoo notes that one of the company’s proudest milestones is achieving MS ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management system — a recognition of its rigorous production processes and commitment to continuous improvement.

Shaping the Future in Colour

With a mission to make titanium and PVD coatings more accessible, Global Titanium Coating Sdn Bhd is redefining durability and design — one finish at a time

Despite its relatively young age, Global Titanium Coating Sdn Bhd has established itself as a reputable leader in Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coating.

From its base in Semenyih, Selangor, the company which was founded in 2016, has built a solid foundation around one core belief — that quality surface finishing should be both beautiful and accessible.

“Our goal is to bridge the gap between advanced coating technologies and everyday applications,” says Managing Director Mike Fong.

Global Titanium offers a comprehensive suite of services, including stainless steel V-cutting, bending and cutting, bead blast coating, and customised coating colours for stainless steel and mild steel.

Its coatings are found across a wide range of sectors — from construction and hospitality to retail and interior design — enhancing surfaces in hotels, shopping malls, displays, and even bespoke furniture pieces.

Thanks to its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, the company is able to eliminate middlemen, maintaining competitive pricing without compromising on quality.

Its diverse colour palette — from Gold, Rose Gold, and Pitch Black to Champagne Gold and Wine Red — allows designers and clients alike to bring their creative visions to life.

Commitment to Excellence

For Fong, Global Titanium’s success stems from a clear corporate philosophy: excellence through professionalism, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

“Every project is an opportunity to excel, not merely a job to complete,” she notes. “Our measure of progress lies in the quality of our results and the trust of our clients.”

The company’s management team combines deep experience with a forward-looking mindset, embracing technology and continuous improvement as part of its DNA. Its coatings not only enhance visual appeal but also improve hardness and durability, ensuring long-lasting results that are both cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Global Titanium’s eco-conscious approach sets it apart. Its non-toxic, non-hazardous, and non-polluting processes demonstrate how innovation and responsibility can coexist — a step forward for a cleaner, greener industry.

Built on Vision

Looking to the future, Fong envisions the company expanding beyond Malaysian borders. “We’re preparing to venture into the export market,” she shares.

“Our technology and craftsmanship have proven their worth locally — it’s time to bring them to the world.”

To remain relevant, she believes industry players must be both pragmatic and purposeful. “Seek opportunities within and beyond your current market. Evaluate your strengths and stay close to your expertise. Growth should be measured, intentional, and built on what you do best,” she adds.

Goodnite’s Journey from Sleep to Lifestyle

From a trusted mattress maker to a full-fledged home lifestyle brand, Goodnite Group continues to redefine comfort, wellness and innovation for modern living

Goodnite Group began with a simple yet powerful vision –to give Malaysians the gift of quality sleep. What started as a mattress brand has since evolved into one of the country’s most trusted home lifestyle names, offering complete furnishing solutions that go beyond the bedroom.

“We’ve always believed that comfort is more than a product; it’s an experience that nurtures body and mind,” says Teo Yek Ming, Group Managing Director of Goodnite Group. Today, that belief drives the company’s steady expansion and transformation.

With over 1,000 dealers and more than 40 outlets nationwide, Goodnite’s footprint spans from homes to hotels, reflecting its strong reputation for reliability, quality and customer trust.

Built from the Ground Up

One of Goodnite’s strongest advantages lies in its vertically integrated operations. The company manufactures its own foam and latex materials, ensuring consistent quality and control at every stage – from raw material to finished product. This integrated approach has enabled Goodnite to expand into producing bedframes, sofas, curtains and cabinets, making it a onestop home furnishing provider.

“Transforming from a single-product company into a holistic lifestyle brand wasn’t easy,” Teo Yek Ming says. “We had to build in-house capabilities, modernise our production systems and invest in talent. But staying customer-focused helped us overcome those challenges.”

Enhancing Living

Goodnite’s success is anchored on three key pillars – integration, service expansion and customisation.

Building Spaces, Building Trust

From humble beginnings to securing landmark projects, Goodwinds Project Solutions Sdn Bhd has carved out its niche in Malaysia’s interior design and build sector

Founded by Nicholas Gan in 2016, Goodwinds Project Solutions Sdn Bhd entered the interior design and build industry with a clear focus – to transform commercial spaces such as offices, hotels, retail outlets and universities. The decision to start the company was driven by accumulated industry experience and a desire to create a brand that truly served clients with knowledge, creativity and reliability.

From the outset, the company emphasised transparency and humility as its core values ensuring a win-win approach for both clients and the business.

This people-first mindset creates the foundation for growth, enabling Goodwinds Project Solutions to build trust and credibility in an industry where reputation matter as much as design excellence.

Overcoming Early Challenges

Like many new ventures, the early years brought significant challenges. The biggest hurdle was marketing. Without an established portfolio, it was difficult to convince potential clients to trust them with projects.

Yet perseverance paid off. As word-of-mouth spread and successful projects began to add up, the company gradually built the strong profile it needed.

Today, as the business approaches its ninth year, new challenges have emerged. Talent management has become a central concern – retaining skilled individuals and cultivating the right team attitudes in a competitive environment.

“The new generation often prioritises higher

pay over long-term growth,” Nicholas said. “But we continue to instil values of skill development, commitment and professionalism in our team.”

The Power of Small Steps

One of the key drivers of Goodwinds Project Solutions’ success has been its emphasis on a robust quality management system. By ensuring that every team member speaks the same “language” and follows the same process, the company delivers consistency and reliability across projects. Nicholas embraces a mindset of continuous

improvement. Even small steps forward are valued as they accumulate into long-term progress. This readiness to evolve ensures the team is prepared when new opportunities arise.

Defining Milestones

A defining moment for the company came in 2020, just four years after its founding. Goodwinds Project Solutions secured a landmark project involving the design and construction of 10 sales offices across major cities in West Malaysia.

The contract not only marked the largest in the company’s history but also validated its capacity to deliver at scale.

This milestone cemented its position as a trusted player in commercial interior design, proving that a boutique firm could take on significant, high-value projects while maintaining personalised service.

Impact beyond Design

Goodwinds Project Solutions’ influence extends beyond aesthetics and construction. By leveraging its experience, the firm guides clients away from costly missteps, presenting options and outcomes that align with budgets and timelines.

This consultative approach ensures clients enjoy a smooth journey from concept to completion.

Equally important is the company’s commitment to sustainability. By reducing errors, minimising construction waste and promoting eco-friendly and recycled materials, it actively contributed to environmental protection.

“The community increasingly recognises the importance of sustainability, and we are proud to integrate green practices into our work,” Nicholas said.

What sets them Apart

In an industry filled with competitors, Goodwinds Project Solutions distinguishes itself as a boutique firm specialising exclusively in commercial projects.

Its focus allows for deeper expertise and a streamlined approach, supported by a strong management system that ensures projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

Beyond execution, the company aspires to develop a distinctive design style, one that sets it apart from other firms and reflects its unique identity. This ambition fuels its creative direction and long-term vision.

Looking Ahead

Future aspiration for Goodwinds Project Solutions include pursuing ISO certification to further strengthen its management systems and instil greater confidence among clients.

Internally, investment in people remains a priority, with ongoing training and upskilling opportunities designed to ensure the team continues to grow alongside the business.

Nicholas’s philosophy is simple yet powerful: never stop learning, never stop moving forward. This ethos has carried the company through its formative years and will continue to drive it towards greater achievements.

Hal Empire - Flooring the Future

How one woman’s determination turned setbacks into stepping stones and built a trusted flooring brand from the ground up

When Jenna Wang first stepped into the flooring industry in 2006, she didn’t imagine that one day she would be leading an award-winning company.

Fresh out of school and working for a local flooring firm, she serviced a wide range of clients, from interior designers and architects to banks and commercial offices.

“I loved seeing an empty space transform into something beautiful,” she recalls.

“That sense of completion gave me joy and satisfaction.”

But the work was demanding and the stress, at times, overwhelming.

“I wanted to quit,” Jenna admits. “But my clients encouraged me to stay. They saw potential in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself.”

That encouragement became the seed of a dream. A decade later, she founded Hal Empire Sdn Bhd, a name inspired by her mother, as Jenna wished to build an “empire” in her honour. The company was born in 2017, the same year her father passed away, symbolising both an ending and a new beginning.

Building Trust

Success didn’t come easy. Managing staff, facing stiff market competition, and juggling multiple roles tested Jenna’s resolve.

“People management was the hardest,” she says. “Everyone has their own personality, so I had to improve my communication and leadership skills constantly.”

What truly set Jenna apart was her hands-on approach and excellent service and after-sales service. Hal Empire has emerged as a one-stop flooring specialist. She meets clients personally, attends site meetings, and oversees installation and after-sales support.

“Earning my clients’ trust is what drives me,” she explains. “When they believe in me, it pushes me to do better.”

Through integrity and word-of-mouth referrals, Hal Empire grew steadily, expanding

beyond commercial spaces to include residential projects, institutions, cinemas and hotels. The company became known for its onestop solutions, offering carpet, vinyl, SPC and laminated flooring, hand-tufted rugs, custom designs and carpet cleaning services.

The Hallmark of Hal Empire Today, Hal Empire stands as a trusted flooring specialist known for excellent service and after-sales care.

Its reputation has been reinforced by numerous accolades, including the Golden Bull Award, Golden Eagle Award and Asia Excellence Quality Service Award.

Behind every achievement lies a simple philosophy: be attentive and focus on the customer’s needs.

“We don’t just sell flooring – we provide honest advice, design consultations and detailed layout planning within our clients’ budgets,” Jenna says. “Our goal is to make every project a reflection of trust and quality.”

Looking ahead, Hal Empire aims to expand regionally, exploring new product innovations and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and client experience.

“Innovation is key to staying relevant,” she adds. “Our dream is to bring the Hal Empire name beyond Malaysia.”

Founded in 1968 by Kwan You Kee, Hoe Huat Electric began as a modest bicycle servicing shop before shifting gears a decade later to focus on home appliances.

When his son, Ryan Kwan, took over in 2006, he inherited not just a business, but a legacy of hard work, integrity and passion for service.

Like many traditional retailers, Hoe Huat faced stiff competition as online shopping grew. Competing on price alone was no longer sustainable. The turning point came when Ryan decided to reposition the company – from a retailer to a solution-based provider.

“We realised customers wanted more than just products,” Ryan explains. “They wanted complete solutions that fit their lifestyle. That meant moving away from the mass market and focusing on personalisation, quality and service.”

This strategic shift transformed Hoe Huat into a one-stop premium destination. The company invested in expert staff, professional installation services, and carefully curated top-tier brands known for innovation and performance.

Health and Lifestyle Brands

Hoe Huat’s curated portfolio includes ClaroSwiss for cleaner water and kidney health, BlueAir and Hyla for air purification, and Liebherr for superior food preservation. For those seeking comfort and style, Shinoe provides ergonomic seating, while Big Ass Fans deliver whisper-quiet, energyefficient cooling.

Music lovers will appreciate KEF, known for their world-class sound systems, while Crestron

Inovar: Pioneering Sustainable Flooring Solutions Across Asia

The company has evolved into one of Asia’s leading providers of eco-friendly, innovative flooring solutions.

Inovar Floor Malaysia was founded with a singular mission: to provide high-quality, innovative and environmentally-responsible flooring solutions to customers across the region.

Guided by its vision to be the preferred supplier of premium flooring materials in Asia and beyond, the company continues to build on its promise of delivering Better Flooring Solutions.

What began as a modest operation specialising in laminate flooring has today grown into a leading flooring solutions provider with a strong presence across Asia.

In Malaysia alone, Inovar has supplied and installed flooring in more than 800 projects, from homes to large commercial developments, proof of the trust and confidence it has earned over the years.

Inovar Group CEO Jason Tan said the company’s goal has always been to combine design, technology, and sustainability to offer products that not only meet but exceed customer expectations.

“We are proud to have become a trusted name in flooring solutions throughout the region,” he said.

Overcoming Obstacles

Inovar’s journey was not without obstacles. One of the earliest challenges was raising awareness about the benefits of eco-friendly and durable alternatives like laminate and vinyl flooring.

“At the time, many consumers and developers were unfamiliar with these products,

often associating quality flooring solely with traditional materials such as wood or stone,” explained Jason.

“To overcome this, we invested heavily in educational initiatives.”

Inovar conducted awareness campaigns, product demonstrations and training sessions for dealers and contractors. These efforts helped to build consumer confidence and positioned Inovar as a thought leader in sustainable flooring innovation.

Through persistence and a customer-first approach, the company established a reputation for reliability and quality – cornerstones that continue to define its brand today.

Expanding Horizons

Staying true to its commitment to innovation, Inovar has expanded its portfolio beyond laminate flooring into vinyl, Wood Polymer Composite (WPC), and carpet solutions.

This diversification offers customers greater flexibility in design and performance while catering to evolving lifestyle and architectural trends.

Inovar’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing and eco-friendly technologies remains at the heart of its operations.

Its products carry ISO certifications and Green Label accreditations, underscoring the company’s responsibility toward the environment and its customers.

Today, Inovar’s presence extends beyond Malaysia to Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia and Indonesia, marking its success as a regional leader in the flooring industry.

Building the Future on Strong Foundations

Inovar’s growth rests on three key pillars: continuous product innovation, a commitment to sustainability and an unwavering customerfirst mindset. The company continues to invest in product development, digital innovation and knowledge sharing to stay ahead in a competitive market.

“Our focus is not just on creating beautiful floors,” said Jason Tan.

“It’s about delivering long-lasting, environmentally conscious solutions that enhance everyday living. We believe the future of flooring lies in sustainability, and we are committed to leading that transformation.”

By combining durability, functionality, and design versatility, Inovar continues to redefine industry standards, laying the groundwork for a greener, more innovative future in flooring.

At ISOFU, outdoor furniture is more than décor — it is about creating beautiful, functional environments where people can gather in comfort and style.

Guided by a design philosophy that values originality and timeless appeal, ISOFU believes that beauty speaks for itself, that truly great design is transparent, and that all design should follow the laws of nature.

Jalex: Building Excellence from Within

The company has evolved into one of Malaysia’s most respected integrated fit-out specialists, combining craftsmanship, innovation and resilience to deliver world-class interiors

Founded in 1988 by husband-and-wife duo Janet and Alex, Jalex Sdn Bhd was born from a shared passion for design, quality and precision. The company name itself is a reflection of their partnership – Jalex is an acronym blending their names and vision.

Headquartered in Selangor, Jalex began as an interior environment builder. Over the years, it has grown into a vertically integrated group with its own manufacturing facilities in joinery, bespoke furniture, metal works, and stone processing.

According to Executive Director Janet Lee, the company’s diversification into stone contracting, trading and retailing has made it one

of the few in the country capable of managing the entire spectrum of interior fit-out services in-house.

“This integration has become Jalex’s defining strength, allowing it to control quality, cost and delivery timelines across complex, high-value projects,” she said.

Weathering the Storms

Like many Malaysian companies, Jalex faced a defining test during the 1998 Asian financial crisis. When projects came to a halt and client payments were frozen, the company found itself in a severe cash flow squeeze.

Yet, even in those trying times, Jalex remained steadfast in its commitment to its subcontractors and employees.

“Rather than cutting corners or compromising integrity, we chose to honour all obligations, ensuring that work continued and relationships were maintained,” said Janet.

“That decision, rooted in trust and perseverance, cemented the company’s reputation for reliability – a value that continues to define Jalex today.

Integration as a Strategy

Jalex’s success is underpinned by a deliberate strategy of vertical integration. By owning manufacturing facilities

across multiple trades – timber, metal and stone – the company achieves a unique synergy between design, production and installation.

“This operational model provides Jalex with a high degree of control and flexibility, enabling the team to deliver intricate, customised interiors with precision and efficiency,” said Janet.

“It also fosters innovation, as designers and engineers work hand-in-hand to find creative solutions tailored to each client’s vision.”

In addition, Jalex’s commitment to quality assurance is evident in its adherence to ISO 9001 standards. Its in-house system, externally audited and certified by RWTUV Germany since 2000, ensures that every project meets the highest standards of workmanship and management.

Shaping Malaysia’s Interior Landscape

Over nearly four decades, Jalex has contributed to some of Malaysia’s most iconic developments. From Merdeka 118 and The Exchange TRX to the Asterior Waldorf Hotel and Dewan Philharmonic Petronas, the company has delivered interiors that reflect both technical mastery and aesthetic excellence.

To date, Jalex has completed the interior fit-outs for 88 hotels and over one million square metres of office space. Beyond numbers, its true impact lies in redefining what it means to be a “Builder of Excellent Interiors.”

By eliminating execution gaps and offering a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary approach, Jalex stands as a trusted partner for high-complexity projects – turning ambitious designs into enduring spaces that inspire and endure.

Built on Trust, Designed for Life

From a single outlet in Johor Bahru to a nationwide network of 20 showrooms, Jubin BMS (1990) Sdn Bhd has grown into one of Malaysia’s most trusted names for tiles, stone surfaces, and bath & kitchen solutions.

Fr om its beginnings as a small retailer in Johor Bahru, Jubin BMS (1990) Sdn Bhd has evolved into a nationwide powerhouse in surface and sanitary solutions.

Today, its 20 showrooms — including Malaysia’s largest — cater to retail, wholesale, and project markets.

Behind this growth lies a simple yet steadfast philosophy: combining design excellence with reliability to make every space both timeless and practical.

“Our growth has always been guided by one principle — to deliver quality and trust in equal measure,” says Chief Marketing Officer Nicky Ang.

“Our mission is to help every customer create a space that reflects both style and substance.”

Fast Facts

Experience Beyond the Showroom

Like many long-established companies, Jubin BMS has weathered its share of challenges. In the 1990s, when the business relied heavily on project sales, a shifting market landscape brought setbacks that tested its resilience.

Instead of retreating, the company made a bold pivot — realigning its focus towards the retail segment and reshaping its model into a more diversified and sustainable one.

“That turning point taught us the importance of adaptability,” Ang recalls.

“Change is never easy, but it often leads to growth — and in our case, it became the foundation for long-term success.”

Central to that success is the Jubin BMS showroom experience, designed to inspire creativity and confidence.

Every detail — from ambience to consultation — is thoughtfully curated, supported by wide and ready stock, robust logistics, and quality in-house brands.

“Our showrooms are more than display spaces; they’re creative hubs,” says Ang. “We want customers to feel inspired, guided, and assured from concept to completion.”

Powered by People and Purpose

Beyond products and design, Jubin BMS’s true strength lies in its people — affectionately known as Orang Jubin BMS. Their craftsmanship, consistency, and care form the heart of the company’s enduring success.

“Our proudest achievement isn’t just in the tiles we sell,” says Ang, “but in the people who make our work meaningful every day.”

That people-first spirit extends to the wider community. The company actively supports initiatives such as blood donation drives, per-

forming arts sponsorships, school programmes, and knowledge-sharing events that contribute to society’s growth.

As Jubin BMS looks to the future, its focus remains clear: to blend innovation with accessibility.

The company continues to enhance both its in-store and online experiences, develop its house brands, and nurture young talents to carry its legacy forward.

“Our goal is simple,” Ang concludes. “To keep building trust — one tile, one relationship, one generation at a time.”

Building Trust, One Door at a Time

How Jurusanwa Enterprise Sdn Bhd turned engineered doors into an art of precision, sustainability, and partnership

For four decades, Jurusanwa Enterprise Sdn Bhd has stood at the forefront of Malaysia’s engineered door industry, proving that craftsmanship and consistency can open doors — literally and figuratively — to long-term success.

Jurusanwa’s story began in the

early 1980s, when Managing Director George Yap’s father Mr Yap Lin Chai recognised the untapped potential of the timber door market. What started as a modest operation soon evolved into a comprehensive total door solutions provider, offering everything from bespoke timber doors to large-scale engineered and fire-rated installations.

“From the start, our focus was simple — to deliver doors that are both functional and beautiful,” says Yap. “Every project is a chance to improve, to listen to our clients, and to evolve with the industry.”

Over the years, the company has installed millions of doorsets across Malaysia and beyond, becoming a trusted partner to consultants, contractors, and developers.

Its portfolio includes prestigious landmarks such as Sunway Resort Hotel, Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur, W Hotel, The Face Suites, and Island Hospital.

Raising the Bar

While many suppliers struggle to maintain product consistency across outsourced production, Jurusanwa has turned this challenge into a strength.

By implementing rigorous quality control systems, conducting regular factory inspections, and maintaining transparent communication with production partners, the company ensures that every door

meets its exacting standards.

“Our philosophy has always been: do it right, or don’t do it at all,” Yap shares. “Even though we don’t manufacture directly, our clients trust us because we take full ownership of every door we supply.”

The company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation is also evident in its award-winning achievements.

Its Colobox line earned the Archidex Star Award for Sustainability 2023, while its latest innovation, LC+, made from eco-friendly palmwood, underscores Jurusanwa’s commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable design.

Sustainable Vision

Looking ahead, Jurusanwa aims to strengthen its role as a trusted engineered door specialist by expanding into more sustainable and design-forward solutions.

Its future plans include introducing new materials, refining quality assurance systems, and deepening partnerships with architects and developers who share its environmental vision.

“Our journey is built on consistency, collaboration, and adaptability,” Yap concludes. “To stay relevant, you must evolve — not just with trends, but with purpose.”

With an unwavering com mitment to quality, innova tion, and customer satisfac tion, Jurusanwa continues to open new doors — one project at a time.

Beyond Materials, From Design to Delivery

From an enterprising vision to redefine material supply for Malaysia’s furniture industry, Max World Group of Companies has grown into a trusted name in sustainable wood panel solutions.

Max World Group of Companies began with a bold ambition — to become not just a supplier, but a partner that empowers furniture makers to achieve excellence through innovation, reliability, and sustainability.

“The company was founded to fill a critical gap in the furniture industry — the need for a true partner offering not just materials, but consistent quality and innovative solutions,” says Group Managing Director Jack Chin.

Today, the company stands as a leading supplier of wood panels and materials, specialising in melamine-faced particle board, medium-density fibreboard (MDF), and high-pressure laminates such as Lamiply and Lamiblock.

Its integrated business model now includes in-house manufacturing of melamine-faced panels and edge bands, as well as custom fabrication and digital services.

“We’ve always believed in creating value beyond materials,” says Chin. “Our role is to simplify our customers’ journey — from design to delivery.”

Sustainability remains at the heart of Max World’s operations, reflected in its eco-friendly E0 grade panels produced from responsibly sourced raw materials — a step towards greener manufacturing across the region.

Innovation Through Challenge

Navigating Malaysia’s competitive materials market came with its share of hurdles. To stay ahead, the company made a strategic shift from distribution to manufacturing — ensuring tighter quality control, cost efficiency, and greater product innovation.

The move paid off, allowing Max World to introduce eco-conscious product lines and expand its portfolio to include stone top solutions, accessories, and custom fabrication services.

“Our agility and commitment to listen to customers were key,” notes

Chin. “Every challenge pushed us to innovate and strengthen our value chain.”

Recognition soon followed. The company’s sustainability-driven innovations have earned prestigious honours including the Golden Axe Environment Friendly Award 2025, Most Trusted Brand Award 2019, and ARCHIDEX Green Dot Award 2019 — alongside certifications such as the Singapore Green Label, FSC, MyHijau, PEFC, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.

At its core, Max World’s philosophy is peoplecentred — empowering employees, customers, and communities to progress together. Its extensive product range now includes more than 600 designs and colours across melamine panels and high-pressure laminates, offering designers unmatched creative flexibility.

Designing Beyond the Drawing Board

From concept to completion, Milpro Consultancy Sdn Bhd bridges the gap between design intent and reality — helping interior designers and developers turn ideas into beautifully executed spaces

“You design it, We nail it.” It’s more than just a tagline — it’s a promise.

Every interior designer dreams of seeing their concept come alive — not just on paper, but in texture, form, and feeling.

Yet, between the sketch and the site, ideas can easily lose their essence.

That’s where Milpro Consultancy Sdn Bhd steps in — a team devoted to turning design intent into reality.

Founded in 2012, the Kuala Lumpur based company specialises in custom-made loose furniture for hotels, F&B outlets, and commercial spaces.

“We were inspired by a simple vision — to bridge the gap between design intent and on-site reality,” says Managing Director Anson Leow.

What began as a small project-based workshop has evolved into a trusted hospitality furniture specialist, serving local and international developers, designers, and operators. Over the years, Milpro has built a solid reputation for its ability to deliver — on time, on spec, and in style.

Resilient and Reliable

For Anson and his team, the biggest challenge has always been balancing design ambition with practical delivery — especially under tight construction schedules.

“We overcame this by strengthening our project management process, building shopdrawing expertise, and maintaining close coordination with designers, contractors, and operators,” he explains. “Instead of arguing who caused the issue, we focus on getting things done.”

Milpro’s success stems from its integrated approach — combining value engineering, design detailing, and proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle.

This enables the team to propose cost-

effective materials and methods that respect the designer’s vision while meeting budget and timeline expectations.

The company’s “no-blame, just-solve” culture has earned the trust of many in the hospitality industry.

Its portfolio includes projects such as Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Mardhiyyah Hotel & Suites Shah Alam, Holiday Inn Bangsar, Fraser Residence Putrajaya and Citadines Waterfront, Kota Kinabalu — more than 30 hospitality and F&B projects across Malaysia and the region.

Anson was also a featured speaker at ARCHIDEX 2025 Biz Talk, sharing his insights on “Design, Detail & Delivery in Hotel Furniture Projects” — a testament to Milpro’s growing thought leadership in the field.

With its precision, agility, and commitment to excellence, Milpro Consultancy continues to shape spaces where creativity meets craftsmanship — one design at a time.

Building Synergy, Shaping Spaces

From its roots in design and fit-out to becoming a listed company on Bursa Malaysia, Signature Alliance Group Berhad continues to elevate Malaysia’s construction and interior landscape through innovation, integrity, and teamwork

When Signature Alliance Group Berhad (SAG) was formed through the merger of Space Alliance Contracts and Zig Zag Builders, it marked the union of two forces with one shared mission — to create smarter, better spaces.

Founded by Group Managing Director Darren Chang, the company began 16 years ago with a vision to blend design creativity with construction precision.

What started as a modest fit-out practice has since grown into a fully integrated interior and construction powerhouse.

Today, SAG stands as a publicly listed company on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market — a testament to its commitment, consistency, and collaborative spirit.

“Becoming a listed entity symbolises more than growth; it’s recognition of the collective effort that built this company,” says Chang.

The Group’s portfolio now spans commercial offices, hotels, retail, healthcare, and data centres — each project driven by the same philosophy: synergy creates strength.

Innovation in Motion

SAG’s success lies in the seamless integration of design, engineering, and project execution.

With in-house joinery facilities, 230 skilled employees, and BIM-enabled digital workflows, the company maintains complete quality control from concept to completion.

Engineered for Tomorrow

As sustainability takes centre stage in modern architecture, SL Verdearc Sdn Bhd’s brand, GAEA, is leading the charge with eco-friendly materials that redefine how we design, build, and live

Named after the Greek goddess of Earth, GAEA — the premium Wood Polymer Composite (WPC) brand by SL Verdearc Sdn Bhd — embodies the harmony of nature, technology, and design.

“GAEA was born from a desire to provide eco-friendly alternatives that don’t compromise on beauty or performance,” says Heidy Low, Director of SL Verdearc.

“Our Wood Polymer Composite (WPC) materials reflect that philosophy — durable, stylish, and kind to the planet.”

As the innovation arm of Seng Liy Holdings Sdn Bhd, SL Verdearc was established to develop premium, sustainable materials that meet the evolving demands of modern architecture.

From a local initiative, GAEA has grown into

a recognised international brand in sustainable building solutions, exporting its advanced WPC systems to regional markets while maintaining strong roots in Malaysia.

Shaping Awareness

Like many innovators, GAEA faced initial scepticism. When WPC materials were first introduced, market awareness was low, especially for interior applications.

“We had to overcome perceptions about quality and cost,” recalls Low, who is also the Chief Marketing Officer of Seng Liy Holdings.

The team tackled this through consistent education and engagement — participating in exhibitions, conducting presentations, and sharing knowledge at sustainability events.

These efforts showcased the material’s durability, eco-friendliness, and versatility, helping clients appreciate its value.

An active digital presence further reinforced this message.

By highlighting WPC’s features — from its waterproof and termiteproof properties to its ENF-grade standard for ultra-low formaldehyde emissions — GAEA built credibility and trust among customers, setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible design.

Innovating the Future

Today, GAEA stands at the forefront of Malaysia’s green innovation movement.

Its milestone achievement — the country’s first integrated waterproof interior wood system — features matching doors, cabinets, and wall panels crafted entirely from WPC.

This innovation merges the natural warmth of timber with advanced waterproof technology, redefining what modern interiors can achieve.

These breakthroughs have earned industry recognition, including the Archidex Star Award – Sustainability Winner 2023 and the JIDA Designer’s Choice Award 2024.

Beyond awards, GAEA’s impact extends to the broader industry, enabling clients to achieve Green Building Index (GBI) certifications and supporting Malaysia’s sustainability agenda.

Looking ahead, SL Verdearc aims to strengthen its Malaysian base while expanding its global footprint.

Continued investment in research and development, together with growing OEM and ODM partnerships, will drive GAEA’s evolution into a global leader in green architectural materials.

Where Aesthetics Meet Accountability

In Penang’s fast-paced industrial corridor, T2o Design Sdn Bhd has carved a niche where creativity meets compliance — redefining how beautiful, buildable, and accountable spaces come to life

In the heart of Penang’s “Silicon City”, T2o Design Sdn Bhd stands for a simple but demanding promise: “Together, we make the world beautiful.”

Founded in 2020 by two complementary minds — Chin Yeow Liang, an engineer driven by buildability and safety, and Chong Sze Woay, a chartered accountant dedicated to financial governance and transparency — the company combines design excellence with accountability.

From a compact beginning, T2o Design has grown into a 15-person multidisciplinary team spanning design, project/QA, and finance. Its projects now cover manufacturing facilities, corporate and GLC offices, education institutions, and high-rise residences — all executed with technical precision and compliance discipline.

“Our work is about making design perform,” says Chin. “Every concept we propose must stand up to engineering logic, cost reality, and time constraints.”

Design That Performs

At T2o Design, design and delivery form one seamless process. Every project begins with a detailed brief translating business needs into spatial logic, compliance requirements, and a target budget.

Clients receive transparent Bills of Quantity with value-engineered options — allowing design freedom without financial surprises.

A cornerstone of the firm’s workflow is its “Admin Pack” — a living documentation system covering method-of-statement submissions, risk assessments, progress tracking, and milestone billing. This rigorous

framework ensures smooth coordination across all parties, particularly in fast-track projects.

One such success was a 16,000-sq-ft industrial refurbishment in Bayan Lepas for a public-listed multinational, completed within just four months.

“We delivered on time, to standard, and with no last-minute surprises,” recalls Chong. “That project reaffirmed that strong systems are the backbone of quality.”

Recognition soon followed, with the company receiving the Golden Bull Award and Nanyang Prestigious 100th Brand Award in 2023 — affirming its credibility in design-build excellence.

Measured Impact, Sustainable Future

For clients, T2o Design brings clarity, accountability, and peace of mind — ensuring predictable timelines, reduced rework, and audit-ready documentation.

Within the industry, it advocates best practices in standard operating procedures, safety, and buildability, helping raise the standards of Penang’s design ecosystem.

Its portfolio includes the refurbishment of the InvestPenang corporate office and facility upgrades for the Penang Skills Development Centre.

Smart Living, Personal Touch

Blending technology with design, Tech AV Concepts Sdn Bhd bridges the gap between innovation and lifestyle, setting new standards in Malaysia’s smart home industry

For Bryan Lee, Managing Director of Tech AV Concepts Sdn Bhd (TAC), innovation in home automation goes beyond technology — it’s about crafting living spaces that are intelligent, comfortable, and truly reflective of each client’s lifestyle.

Founded in 2005, the company began as a small team united by a shared passion for redefining modern living.

Lee recalls, “Our vision has always been to transform homes into intelligent, comfortable, and connected spaces that truly reflect each client’s lifestyle.”

From those early days of integrating audio-visual systems, TAC has evolved into one of Malaysia’s leading providers of Personalized Smart Home Solutions.

Today, its expertise covers everything from lighting, shades, and climate control to home theatre and music—all seamlessly unified through intuitive, easy-to-use systems.

But success did not come without challenges.

“In our early years, many viewed smart home systems as a luxury,” says Lee. “We had to educate homeowners and designers about how automation enhances not just comfort, but energy efficiency and long-term value.”

TAC also faced the growing pains of maintaining quality as it expanded. Its answer: structured training, technical certifications, and a service culture built on reliability and pride in craftsmanship.

Excellence Through Innovation

TAC’s success is anchored in three strategic pillars—personalisation, integration, and people.

Every project, Lee says, is designed around the homeowner’s lifestyle and aesthetic preferences. Collaborations with global technology partners such as Lutron and Crestron ensure its systems are scalable, reliable, and future-ready.

“We believe technology is only as strong as the people behind it,” he adds.

This belief is reflected in continuous staff development and a customer-first mindset that defines the “TAC Experience,” where innovation meets sincerity.

The results speak for themselves: from the Gold Residential Award by Lutron Electronics US (2022–2024) and the MIIP Interior Industry Award for Product Excellence, to the Lang International Corporate Titan Award.

Yet, Lee emphasises, “Beyond awards, our greatest achievement remains the trust of clients who continue to recommend us.”

A Connected Future

TAC’s influence extends beyond its projects—it is actively shaping Malaysia’s smart living culture.

Through its TAC Experience Centre, the company engages architects and interior designers in hands-on workshops and showcases that demonstrate how intelligent systems can complement good design and sustainability.

Looking ahead, Lee envisions a more energy-efficient, AI-driven future.

“We aim to strengthen our position as Malaysia’s benchmark for premium and sustainable smart home integration,” he says.

“Our focus will remain on user experience, team expertise, and innovation that makes modern living smarter, simpler, and more human.”

He concludes, “Stay true to your values and invest in your people. Technology will evolve—but trust, teamwork, and integrity are timeless.”

Crafted with Purpose

Like many success stories, Tile Concept’s journey has been shaped by challenges. The most testing period came during the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted supply chains and halted site operations nationwide.

“It was a defining moment,” recalls Eric. “We learnt to be agile and doubled down on supporting our partners. It strengthened our relationships and our purpose.”

For the company, growth has always been about trust — a value Eric calls “the cornerstone of our brand.”

Rather than chasing transactions, Tile Concept focuses on long-term partnerships, built on integrity and reliability.

That philosophy has guided the company’s evolution from supplier to solution provider.

Leveraging a strong network of direct suppliers, Tile Concept became one of the first in Malaysia to customise imported tiles to client specifications — even rebranding them under project-specific requirements.

Its investment in precision machinery allows bespoke shapes and patterns to be produced locally, realising complex architectural designs with flawless execution.

Innovation in Every Surface

Over the years, Tile Concept has earned recognition for its precision and design flexibility, serving government-linked companies, renowned retail chains, and prominent developers.

Yet Eric’s pride lies not in individual projects, but in the loyalty of clients who have remained with the company since its early days.

A major milestone this year is the opening of its first flagship showroom in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya — a space designed to inspire clients and showcase its expanding product range.

Recent highlights include the successful launch of Tile Concept’s wall and fluted panel collection at the Menara Affin Roadshow, which sparked a surge of industry and social media interest.

“Our aim is to provide the full architectural envelope — from floors to walls — so designers can shape every surface of a space with confidence,” says Eric.

As the company looks ahead, its mission remains clear: to be Malaysia’s leading decorative tile trendsetter, continually scouting the world for next-generation materials that combine style, durability, and sustainability.

“Choose to be extraordinary,” advises Eric. “Integrity, loyalty, and the willingness to go the extra mile — that’s the only foundation for lasting growth.”

The Art of Doing Better

Since 2006, VCS Interior Sdn. Bhd. has carved its name as a force in Malaysia’s interior design and fit-out landscape — redefining how spaces are designed, built, and experienced through precision, innovation, and integrity

“Growth doesn’t come from doing more; it comes from doing better.”

That guiding belief has shaped the journey of VCS Interior Sdn. Bhd., transforming what began as a modest interior outfit into a multidisciplinary design-and-build powerhouse.

“We began with a clear purpose — to create spaces that truly enhance everyday living,” says

Founder and Director Ruvin Wong Ru Yin.

“It was never just about design or construction, but about building experiences that inspire and endure.”

Over nearly two decades, the company has evolved into a fully integrated group that includes VCS Manufacturer, OPPEIN Living, and FixID Home, offering complete solutions from interior design and custom cabinetry to post-handover care.

This evolution, Ruvin explains, stems from a mindset of constant improvement.

Designing for Work, Inspired by People

Blending ergonomics, aesthetics and innovation, Wise Furniture Design crafts thoughtful workspaces where comfort meets productivity — and design meets purpose

Workplaces today demand more than function — they require feeling. Wise Furniture Design was founded on this belief, creating environments that balance practicality with beauty.

From ergonomic chairs to modular workstations, each piece reflects the company’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and design that supports how people truly work.

“Office furniture should enhance both comfort and creativity,” says Managing Director David Cheong. “When people feel good in their workspace, performance naturally follows.”

Since its establishment two years ago, Wise Furniture Design has become known for its thoughtful approach — merging form, function and well-being into every design solution.

What began as a small, design-driven team has evolved into a growing name in the commercial furniture landscape, trusted by businesses seeking to elevate their workplace environments with smart, adaptable solutions.

Cheong attributes the company’s success to three core strategies: customisation and flexibility, quality and durability, and a customer-centric approach.

For him, design is a tool for empowerment. “Our goal is not just to fill a space, but to help shape the way people experience work — with furniture that’s functional, inspiring and made to last,” he says.

Design Without Boundaries

At WLEA Interior Design, creativity meets craftsmanship through a fully integrated design-and-build model that gives clients peace of mind — and transforms spaces into lasting expressions of individuality

Seventeen years on, WLEA Interior Design continues to transform how people see and shape their spaces — turning what was once a daunting renovation process into an experience built on trust, collaboration, and creativity.

What began as a small creative team has grown into a multidisciplinary studio offering end-to-end services across residential and commercial projects in Malaysia and Singapore.

From interior and exterior design to 3D visualisation, bespoke carpentry, and M&E works, WLEA ensures every project is managed with care and precision.

“Our philosophy has always been simple — to give clients peace of mind when building their homes,” says Co-Founder Irving Chong.

“We integrate creativity with control, so every detail — from concept to completion — is executed with clarity and consistency.”

Built to Adapt

In a competitive and unpredictable industry, WLEA has weathered challenges ranging from fluctuating material costs to manpower shortages and fast-changing client demands.

Maintaining design quality while scaling up operations required a strong foundation.

“We realised that the only way to ensure quality and consistency was to build everything in-house,” says Founder Wies Chong.

Today, WLEA’s structure includes dedicated teams for design, project management, and production — allowing the company to stay agile and maintain full control over timelines, costs, and craftsmanship.

This approach has paid off. With more than 500 completed projects to date, the company has expanded its footprint with new branches in Selangor, Penang and Singapore, reflecting steady growth and client confidence across the region.

Precision in Every Detail

What sets WLEA apart is its seamless integration of design and delivery. By keeping all functions under one roof — from design conceptualisation to fabrication and installation — the company ensures each project is executed with accountability and precision.

CIDBEC is the reference centre for the construction industry, which in turn manages the CIDB myBIM Centre, which provides training on BIM and its technologies, as well as other services such as room rental facilities, studios and labs.

A Visit to Dynamic Furniture Industries

On 27 July 2018, a group MIIP members paid a visit to Dynamic Furniture Industries (M) Sdn Bhd’s office in Kampung Baru Subang, Shah Alam.

The group was given a presentation by the company’s Founder and Group Managing Director Khoo Yeow Chong on the Dynamic Furniture Industries’ wide range of products and services as well as a tour of its show room.

Established nearly 30 years ago, Dynamic Furniture Industries is a manufacturer and distributor of high quality furniture, including its popular leather sofas and fabric sofas, arm chairs, dining chairs and bedding.

The company has grown into a reputable and reliable organisation in Southeast Asia. It has expanded its market to Indonesia since 2012.

After the comprehensive presentation and tour, the group adjourned to a networking session and sumptuous dinner hosted by Khoo.

“Before something physical is built on site, BIM takes you through virtually in minute detail how a building is will done, a virtual design-to-construction process. It also includes a demolition and maintenance phase.”

He said BIM reduces uncertainty, waste, cost and time as well as simulates and analyses potential clashes, issues and problems. Subcontractors from every trade can input critical information into the model before beginning construction, with opportunities to pre-fabricate or pre-assemble some systems off-site. Products and materials can then be delivered on a just-intime basis rather than being stockpiled on-site.

Its regional headquarter and main production facility is in Banting. The facility comprises state-of-part production line, R&D, warehousing, regional procurements,

logistic and other business divisions. Another regional operation centre with a production facility is in Jakarta that caters to regional demands.

With the implementation of BIM, Farid said it solves a number of common issues such as project delays, additional costs and wastage.

Many of its products are sitting in hotels, restaurants, government buildings, residential building and others. Among its clients are the Alam Shah Palace, Star Cruises, Shangri-La hotel, Eastin Hotel, Grand Dorsett hotel, Genting Highlands and more.

“3D modelling has long been used to in manufacturing of planes, ships, and vehicles. However, the construction industry in Malaysia is just getting started on BIM. It has been proven that with that right BIM implementation, the industry stands to benefit so much more.”

The company has also earned various industry awards as well as ISO:9001 Quality Management Standard certification.

Implementation of BIM in other parts of the world are well-known. For example, the US

plans to establish an Industry Revolution 4.0 roadmap for the industry. Where BIM is concerned, the emphasis will be placed on the usage of cloud-based integration, which is highest form of adoption (Level 3 accreditation).

However, adoption of BIM in Malaysia is slow. Industry experts have attributed the slow adoption to the lack of professionals that are trained in BIM as well as the high cost of its software and implementation.

Hence, the MyBIM centre in Kuala Lumpur was established. Designed as a one-stop resource centre, MyBIM houses state-of-the-art facilities that enable users

Currently, there are about 7,400 BIM components including pre-approved plans, industrial building systems and medical and manufacturing products.

“The centre also offers subsidised trainings as well as subsidies for companies that purchase BIM software or have their employees trained. These subsidies from the BIM Transformation Fund are provided as a means of reducing the high-costs of BIM adoption, particularly for SMEs,” said Farid.
