The unit uses many hands-on, active strategies to help students understand what invasive species are and how — by using technologies crafted via the engineering design process — these species may be safely removed from an environment. Camp participants will take home two related trade books to extend their science/engineering learning at home, and throughout the camp, participants will also get the opportunity to meet real engineers working in the field and gain a better understanding of what it is to be an engineer. Kids can proceed at their own pace and have fun designing their projects once they’ve built all 30. Each participant will keep: an 80 page manual, 1 solderless circuit board, 12 resistors, 2 capacitors, 2 light-emitting diodes, 2 transistors, 1 battery snap, 1 diode, 1 speaker, 1 timer, 1 photocell, 1 rectifier, 1 potentiometer, and 1 switch. Under the guidance of the five-year head coach, Harford has recorded its most successful campaigns in program history in back-toback years, capped by the record-breaking 44-win 2011 season. This past season, Eller amassed his 100th career victory while clinching the regular-season NJCAA Region XX title and the school’s first-ever top seed in the regional tournament. For his efforts, Eller was rewarded with the 2011 MDJUCO Coaches’ Association Co-Coach of the Year. The Fighting Owls finished the best campaign in the school’s annals with a 44-13 record, in which Eller coached four players that advanced to NCAA Division I schools from the 2011 roster alone. In all, Eller has sent over 30 players to four-year schools, including Maryland, Navy, UNC-Greensboro, Marshall, West Chester and Wilmington.

Signs and Symptoms of a Concussion A concussion is a type of brain injury that changes the way the brain normally works. Even what seems to be a mild bump to the head can be serious. Signs and symptoms of a concussion can show up right after an injury or may not appear or be noticed until hours or days after the injury. It is important to watch for changes in how your child or teen is acting or feeling, if symptoms are getting worse, or if s/he just “doesn’t feel right.” More information with regards to concussions can be found on our website at www.harford.edu or www.cdc. gov/Concussion. Copies of these pamphlets are available in the Office of Continuing Education and Training.
