The Briefing from hardie grant publishing

Dear Booksellers, This month we’re celebrating 20 years of Hardie Grant! The first book published by Hardie Grant back in 1997 was Louis de Bernières’ quirkily affectionate short story debut Labels, which we’re delighted to be reprinting to commemorate the anniversary. We’ve also put together a gorgeous collection of wrapping paper and stickers featuring designs from some of Australia’s most beloved illustrators and designers. We’re also publishing Korea, a timely exploration of the modern history of the Korean peninsula, with a particular eye on the role America has and continues to play in the division of the region. Author Michael Pembroke tells the story of the Korean peninsula with compassion for the people of the North and South, understanding and insight for the role of China and concern about the past and present role of the United States. Hardie Grant Egmont musters all their courage this month to bring you The Troll Heart, the second spooky tale in Jack Henseleit’s The Witching Hours. The perfect book for brave kids who love hiding under the covers to read thrillingly scary stories – BYO flashlight! Also in February, Thomas the Tank Engine pays us a visit on his first-ever adventure down under in Thomas Comes to Australia. Spot Thomas at all your favourite Aussie locations in the brand new illustrations.

‘Perceptive and compelling, often heart-rending, sometimes downright terrifying…’ NOAM CHOMSKY
