Give Me 5 For Kids

Ever since the Harcourts Foundation was launched in August 2008, Team Harcourts throughout Australia have been raising money to provide support that helps, grows and enriches their communities.

The Derwent Valley Autumn Festival was an idea conceived by two Derwent Valley councillors who wanted to build greater social capital for the local community. With the community having gone through a depressed period for a number of years, they felt that a ‘vehicle’ was needed to give expression to the positive aspects of the Derwent Valley.

A chance discussion on a breakfast show in Gosford in the late 90’s, led to the establishment of a unique community-based fundraiser. An initiative which has changed the lives of thousands of Australian children and their families throughout Regional Australia.

In just eight years, we reached the significant milestone of raising nearly $4,000,000 globally for our local communities. This huge achievement is one of many milestones that the Harcourts Foundation is sure to reach in the years ahead.

“The first interaction we recall having with Candice Gottschalk was at one of the busiest times of the year - Christmas Eve. It was a simple text message to Candice requesting information on blocks of land as we were thinking about selling our home in Howrah and building a new home. Candice responded within an hour, promising to drop off a subdivision plan for both my husband and I to pursue over the festive season. She dropped the booklet off by noon that day and we were at that point already enthusiastic about her prompt response and true promise to deliver what we had requested only a few hours before.
