Week Three

Reading: Kolerevic B. 2003. Architecture in the Digital Age

Kolerevic described three fundamental type of fabrication techniques in the reading. Outline the three techniques and discuss the potential of Computer Numeric Controlled fabrication with parametric modelling. (150 words max)

The three different forms of fabrication techniques in the readings are subtractive , additive and formative.

The first one is subtractive includes remove parts of a whole structure, through the surface and cutting oof. For instance, Laser Cut. The second one is to build a shape into a layer. For instance, 3D printing.

The third one is formative includes that using Computer Numeric Controlled machinery to put material in place, and to reshape it, so the complex volume could be made.

The poteential of Computer Numeric Controlled fabrication is widely used in industry. It allows to achieve a goal of low cost.but efficient result. Most importantly, to make a more complex designs.

Week Three

Surface Creation

To create surfaces in this module, by constructing surfaces begin by uisng a (150,150,150) cube in grasshooper, and then selecting certain side on the edge, and using then using the command “list� to create surfaces.

Week Four Panels & Waffle

The hollow triangular shaped structure on one facade allow more light and air to come in through the waffle structure and also capable the ability of diffusion the sun light. The other side with two different height prymaids as a group to form the other facade of the whole structure. The two different patterns will create the boundary in the middle space with light and dark.

The Waffle Structure is constructured by simple trapezoid changing the form from bottom to the top. Which create the sense of time travel when people entering the space and facing the to the top direction.

Week Four

Laser Cutting

On the left are the waffe structure which created through the grasshopper.

On the right are the 3d panels by using the unrollsurface and then tab all the surfaces.

Week Five

To create boolean iterations before using grasshopper to mesh the spheres or other shapes using a attraction point as basic, and adjusting the position to reshape the polygon. Using boolean difference to booleand the shape which dig out the space. All of the four iterations, I used the command platonic Icosahedron to trim the structure into a interesting shape.

Week Five

Isometric

The skeleton shaped structure create a three dwellings that connected as a whole. Three welcoming entrance towards to the exterior create a semi-public space with the unclosed boundaries. After entering the space, people can enjoy the interior sapce where built on the second floor with a stair towards to the roof garden. In addition, the three entarnce can be move throught the whole structure and entering into another more private space, a private courtyard for each family.

The structure could also be placed vertically and adding more same language elelment to the top to create another interesting form which give another meaning to the structure.

Task 01 Matrix The shape of the surface which I chosed to be my final one is the last list, which is two 3d patterns with on point attractor of one surface. The shape I was using as a basic element is two different height prymaids combined into one square box and the other one is the hollow prymaid by uisng the weaverbird.

Task 02 Matrix To create a more interesting and complex shape of bollean iteration, I combined the ideas of point attractor and random attractor to make the final one. I used the command platonic Icosahedron to trim the structure into a interesting shape.
