PROJECT 01

CYAN on Peachtree Atlanta, GA

Professional Work Rafael A Garcia and Associates Architect, Inc. June 2013 - March 2014 SPACES A 329 unit, 23 story luxury rental apartment building designed to fit a prosperous, dynamic urban environment on Peachtree Road, the principal Avenue of Atlanta, in the prestigious Buckhead neighborhood. This project features studio, one, two, and three bedroom units and includes a seven story parking deck, pool amenity deck, amenity pavilion, and roof terrace overlooking Peachtree Road. VIEWS This highly visible building is designed to provide a vantage point to view the beautiful surrounding skyline, while also contributing to it. The building’s orientation on the site engages access to public transit, while also providing unique spaces to enjoy activities such as the Peachtree Road Race and July 4th Fireworks. SUSTAINABLE This building is designed to LEED certification standards.

DETAILS1 I worked on the typical unit, stairs, and amenity lobby design. And I’m honored to design the lobby ceiling and produced the detail drawings under direct by firm principal. MODELING2 The fastest way to learn a building system is to read the model, build the model, and monitoring the model. I learned Revit on this project, which gave me a comprehensive understanding of the functions of the program and its possibility.

PROJECT 02

High-rise Residential Phase 3 Nanqu, Shenyang

China

Professional Work Architects Crang & Boake International June 2011 - August 2011 SPACES A PUD of 70 high-rise residential towers with 3 stories commercial along the street. Underground Parking for each tower and commercial. One water system connected 3 ponds in master planning. The green area covered 70% of land of property. LIVING A 3000 m2 Community center provided entertainment, sports, and library for residents. In the rapidly developing city, an oasis for the peoples who live there. TYPES There are 3 types of tower. Each elevator serves one unit at each level.

PLAN1 I drew the tower core and furniture layout in the plan. This is a great opportunity to learn the space and circulation. MODELING2 SketchUp is a great tool for quick modeling and presenting. In the schematic design phase, I modeled 2 types of tower based on the plan provided by other colleagues.


PROJECT 03

Van Ness Residences

Los Angeles, CA

Professional Work Electric Bowery, Ltd. October 2015 - Current SPACES This project consists of 2 rows of townhouse with 12 units. A linear courtyard with water features surrounded by the 2 townhouses. Each unit has 4 stories high with full height facing the courtyard and roof deck for grill. The split-level design provided dramatic spaces for living space and master suite. COZY the simplest materials and large glazing giving residents a sense of belonging. The benches along to the water feature in the courtyard as informal spaces for communications, which increased the community cohesion.

PROJECT 04

Bluestone Lane

Multiple Places, CA Professional Work Electric Bowery, Ltd. October 2015 - Current

LOCATIONS New York-based coffee shop Bluestone Lane enlisted Electric Bowery to design their first west coast locations. Set in San Francisco’s energetic Financial District and Union Square neighborhoods, these casual cafés provide a peaceful, light-filled respite in the city. And after that, Electric Bowery won other two coffee shops design in Los Angeles. CONTEXTS Electric Bowery drew inspiration from the historic buildings in which these coffee shops are housed, as well as from Bluestone Lane’s Australian roots. The spaces combine a neutral material palette of concrete, wood and steel with playful lighting, colorful tile, and abundant greenery.

Atlanta Culinary Art School Atlanta, GA

Student Work Southern Polytechnic State University Spring 2012 INTENT ACAS (Atlanta Cuisine Art School) is a proposed project located in Midtown Atlanta. The building forms surrounding are rectangular blocks with courtyards inside. The contexts should be followed during the design but integrating and reflecting the project’s unique and innovative spirit. It also has another role to be a community node to provide a place for community activities, like kids gardening class and public cooking learning lecture. CONCEPT The concept of design comes from a dinner. I was eating Spaghetti with a fork. While I twirling fork, I just got the inspiration from the motion. Imagining the three cores as the fork tines. The circulation just like Spaghetti noodles. To develop my initial idea, I made three circulation prototypes and three evolutions. Different spaces can influence human on psychological. In this design, the function of this building is teaching and learning. Exploring different spaces to find the best way for different activities in the school is very important. While traveling through different spaces, vision is also changing, which helping people to get abundant experiences.

PROJECT 06

Hyperloop Hyper Media Los Angeles, CA

Student Work University of California, Los Angeles Fall 2014 - Spring 2015 PROTOTYPE Hyperloop, a new type of transportation system, which should act as a media connecting other transportation systems and activate the opportunities of urba development. In our scheme, Los Angeles station is an inter-station between Las Vegas and San Diego. The Sprial machine counts the time accuratly and provided non-stop experience to all the passengers. STEPS The design of the Hyperloop station design involves considering the design of the capsule. Step 1 - Choosing how one would enter the capsule. We chose cartridge. Step 2 - We engineered a new spiral mechanism that would be able to dispatch capsules and cartridges in and out fluidly. Step 3 - Having modular platforms to provide easy access for dropoff and pickup. Step 4 - We thought of introducing a first class capsules for the business man, or any VIP guest. Thus the seating being more private, spacious, comfort, and entertainment.

9. Completion of the first module on December 5th, 2014. 10. The top part for the next two modules was per-assembled. 11-13. The three modules were completed on December 15th, 2014.

CAPSULE MOCK UP First time designed and led a team built up three modules of hyperloop full scale mock up. It was a big challenge to us to have the things ready for use from a scratch in a very limited time.
