The Flowing Market
This project is located in Hiroshima in Japan and aims to provide a space of freedom for Japanese women who face employment challenges and are bound by family responsibilities after marriage. The facility includes a nursery that can temporarily accommodate children, allowing these mothers to have more flexible working hours.
The architectural design not only extends the adjacent commercial street but also symbolizes both physical and spiritual freedom through its column-free and wall-free spaces. The curved shape of the building also represents a resistance to the rigid cement urban environment. The presence of ramps in the building prevents the movement of goods by staff from interfering with the movement of visitors, further emphasizing the theme of freedom.

Overview of the Market
The image shows the building in its operational state. Additionally, in contrast to the nearby buildings that are rigid and angular, this building appears softer in its design. The open space within the building allows for greater freedom of movement.

The People’s Shelter
This project is located in Albert Dock, Liverpool, and aims to provide immigrants and visitors with an approachable and multifunctional building which differs from the surrounding landmark architecture in scale. It includes an art gallery and short-term residences. The architecture employs an umbrella-shaped roof element as a shelter, evoking a sense of “protection.” By inserting square volumes into the existing structure, people can circulate within the building while constantly encountering the historical textures of the old architecture, leading their memories back to the past. Furthermore, the building separates immigrants and tourists into two separate systems along the circulation paths, ensuring that they do not affect each other.

Breathe between Oppression Into the Shelter
In this chaotic site, the existing building is significantly smaller in scale compared to the surrounding landmarks. Each face of the building avoids directly looking at the “Giants” around it, enables people’s sights to breathe within the landmarks.

Competition Projects
The competition theme was to bring the countryside and farms into the city. In this project, we contemplated a modular approach to utilize the road spaces dominated by vehicles in the city, allowing people to walk in the city as if they were in the countryside. Among them, we designed a central market, office spaces, galleries, and various functional landscapes to connect the dispersed communities in the city and make it as a living centre. Additionally, the building employed a fog-like membrane to dissolve the suffocating feeling often associated with the city, offering a surreal perceptual experience.
The project aims to provide a solution to the continuously deteriorating Amazon rainforest by addressing the soil restoration and regenerating its self-healing capabilities. The building employs electrodes to cleanse the soil from pollutants and utilizes a mycelium structure printed by external robots to nourish the land and establish pioneer forests. Once the land restoration is complete, the mycelium network on the building gradually dies off and decomposes in the soil.
