FIRST IMPRESSIONS

are generally formed within the first 10 seconds of any interaction and begin with a visual evaluation. Therefore, your professional appearance and attire are critical in making a good first impression.

Office uniforms can be selected and purchased following the requirements of the lookbook and the listed guidelines.

The Property Manager can review, approve, and place an order with uniform selections using the property’s Amazon Business account in accordance with the property budget, to be invoiced to the property.

For uniform pieces for Office Team Members not available through Amazon, the Property Manager will review and approve proposed selections, provide petty cash to the employee to purchase uniform selections, and reconcile receipts via standard expense report protocol. All uniform purchases made with petty cash must be approved by the Property Manager, adhere to the uniform guidelines and lookbook, and be reconciled via an expense report.

New Employee uniforms will be ordered by the Training and Development Manager prior to their first day of employment.

Maintenance uniforms for new employees will be purchased from Midwest Promotional Group. Office uniforms for new employees will be purchased from the property’s Amazon Business account, from pre-selected items.

The Property Manager is responsible for ensuring all uniforms worn by Maintenance and Office Team Members are in compliance with the policy as outlined. In the event uniforms items are worn which are inconsistent with the appearance policy, the Property Manager will send the employee home to change and return with uniforms pieces in compliance.

Maintenance uniforms have been pre-selected and should be ordered from Midwest Promotional Group and invoiced to the property. Your Manager can contact HanoverHelp.com to get your account number and login information.

GROOMING & ETIQUETTE

UNIFORMS

Uniforms for Office Team Members will be purchased by the Property Manager via the property’s Amazon Business account, or with petty cash to be reconciled, and in compliance with the Employee Uniforms/Appearance Policy and Lookbook.

The Property Manager will place orders via the property’s Amazon Business account after reviewing and approving uniform selections, in compliance with the property budget.

Office Team Members are required to provide receipts for any uniform purchases made with property petty cash.

Office Team Members are to wear structured suiting pieces at all times, with black or white business tops underneath.

Black suitcoats, blazers, pants, skirts, and dresses must be structured and consistent with business attire. Dry-fit material, sweater material, linen and athletic style material is not permissible for Office Team Member suiting.

Tops to be worn beneath structured suiting must be consistent with business attire.

Revealing, tight fitting, and casual style tops are not permitted. Belts, socks, shoes, and other misc. accessories cannot be purchased with property funds.

Uniforms selected should be color-coordinated in black and white or all black.

Each and every day, ensure that all clothing is well-pressed, clean, the condition maintained to look new, and dry cleaned if necessary. Clothing should fit appropriately. Alterations should be made if necessary.

Nametags must be worn at all times on the left side of the blazer for Office Team Members. Photo nametags should be worn on the left side of the polo shirt for all Maintenance Team Members during normal working hours and after hours on-call requests. Blazers must be worn at all times for Office Team Members. Your Property Manager must approve dress code for any resident event, and Team Members should bring a change of clothes for evening functions if approved.

DRESS & GROOMING

Shoes should be shined every day. No visible tattoos are allowed.

No hats are allowed for Leasing Office team members. Maintenance team members are permitted to wear Hanover-branded hats from TexPrint or plain black hats with no logos.

For Leasing Office team members, long sleeved shirts cannot be rolled up during work hours. For Maintenance team members working outside, long sleeved shirts can be rolled up when necessary. Belts should be worn if the shirt/blouse is tucked into bottoms. Belts must be solid black with no designer logos.

CLOTHING SELECTIONS

Shoes must be solid black with no embellishments with no more than two straps.

No ballet flats or sneakers are allowed.

No espadrilles, athletic shoes, sandals, crocs, flip flops or open-back shoes are allowed.

Open-toe shoes are allowed; however, all visible toenails must be nicely manicured.

Men’s socks and neckties must be solid black. Bowties are not acceptable.

ACCESSORIES

No gems, stones, jewels, colored string, or ornamental accessories of any kind are to be displayed in hair or hanging from hair.

Jewelry is limited to one watch, one ring per hand, and one bracelet per wrist.

Jewelry should not have glitter or make noise. Watch alarms should be turned off.

No body piercing other than ear piercing should be visible. Only one pair of earrings should be worn.

Sunglasses should not be worn on your head and removed as soon as you are inside the building.

Hairstyles, accessories, and make-up must be professional in appearance, must not be overly casual or dramatic, and must enhance an overall physical appearance which is reflective of the property’s image.

HAIR

Hair must be clean and well-kept. Groomed hairstyles and hair coloring must be consistent with our business professional standards. Hair cannot extend past the waist. You may pull your hair back in one single ponytail using a darkly colored hair tie or into a neatly styled bun. Each hairstyle must look purposely groomed and should not look unkept or un-styled. Pigtails, messy-bun(s) or un-styled up-dos are not allowed.

Only natural-looking hair colors/highlights are allowed. Unnatural, extreme and/or bright hair colors/highlights are not allowed (i.e. purple, pink, fuchsia, blue, etc.). Men’s hair that is longer than the shirt collar must be pulled back neatly and secured by a hair tie.

Facial hair must be neat and trimmed.

MAKEUP

Makeup must be worn daily, applied in a conservative manner, and applied prior to entering the office

PERSONAL HYGIENE

Good personal hygiene should always be maintained. The use of antiperspirant or deodorant is required, and cologne/ perfume should be very discreet if used. Nails should be neatly trimmed and clean, and should not extend more than ½ inch beyond the fingertip. Nail polish, if applied, must be free of chips or cracks and polish should be professional in color. Colors such as—but not limited to—fluorescent/neon, blue, green, yellow, orange, black, or multi-colored polishes are nails are not acceptable. All nails should be free of ornate decoration or designs (such as gems or patterns).

Gum chewing is not permissible during work hours.
