THANK YOU WORKFORCE SPONSORS

Our 6th Annual Snack Town Brewfest is less than a month away and we are gearing up for another great event! We are especially excited this time around because we have a theme that many of our attendees will find quite nostalgic. Snack Town Brewfest 2023 will feature a 90s theme and there will be games, contests and live entertainment that will take attendees back to before the new millenium.

This year's live entertainment features

The Learned Doctors, a group of Maryland musicians who specalize in covering hits from the 90's (but also dabble a bit in favorites from the 80's and 70's as well). Snack Town Brewfest will also be featuring a costume contest with three categories: 90s themed, beer themed, and sports team/mascot themed!

Snack Town Brewest will take place September 16, 2023, from 12 PM - 5 PM at Moul Field. To purchase tickets, visit snacktownbrewfest.com/tickets. We will see you there! Cheers!

Today, Utz remains focused on Family-Crafted Flavor, reflecting the brand's pride in its family legacy, the love baked into every Utz® snack, and the carefully-crafted flavors families love. $5.5

HANOVER TO DISCUSS

MILLION RACP GRANT

Hanover, Pa. – On August 1, 2023, local representatives joined Borough of Hanover Manager Margie Lewis, Planning and Engineering Director Eric Mains and Mayor SueAnn Whitman at the Borough of Hanover Council Chambers to discuss the Borough’s capital building and facilities initiative funded in part through a $5.5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant awarded to the Borough in November 2022.

Visiting guests included York County Vice President Commissioner Doug Hoke, Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED)

Rick Vilello, and Regional Director for DCED’s Central Region Madra Clay, with York County President Commissioner Julie Wheeler joining by phone. Also in attendance were Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce President Gary Laird, Senior Vice President of Delta Development Group Darren Asper, and Senior Associate of Delta Development Group Christian Muniz.

Following a presentation of project goals, tours included the existing Police Department facilities as well as the Borough’s Public Works campus located on North Street in Hanover. Participants learned of the plans of relocating the Public Works operations as well as the Water Resources management to new facilities at the former Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant along South Jefferson at Cougar Drive and potentially relocating recycling services to the Borough’s Tanger Building property on High Street. The then vacated Public Works site would be the location of a new Public Administration and Safety Complex. Though not owned by the Borough, the vacant Hanover State Theater was also included in the tour as it contributes to the overall economic planning and strategy for the downtown.

Awarded in November 2022, the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant in the amount of $5.5 million will be utilized specifically for the Public Safety/ Public Administration building. Delta Development Group, a consulting team focused on community planning and economic growth has partnered with the Borough to investigate matching fund opportunities and financial strategies. Likely, 2023 will be a year spent in design and land development planning, with actual construction starting in 2024 for the new Public Works campus with construction of the new Public Administration / Safety Complex being completed in late 2025.

BANKS ARE TRYING OUT NEW IDEAS TO CONNECT WITH FEMALE CUSTOMERS

Like most banks and credit unions, Traditions Bank has been looking for ways to drum up deposits. But the $808 millionasset bank in York, Pa., also had another goal: It wanted to boost its scholarship fund for girls graduating high school.

So, Traditions launched what it calls the Her Traditions Scholarship CD, a 10-month savings product that earns an annual percentage yield above 4%. The bank makes a monthly donation to the scholarship fund in an amount equal to 0.01% of what’s deposited.

Within the first month, the bank had generated enough deposits to add more than $1,000 to its scholarship fund, which continues to grow.

“This is a win-win,” says Nicole Shaffer, director of Her Traditions, a bank initiative focused on female customers. “The motivation is to do the right thing for women. But it has to make business sense, too. What’s our need right now? Our need is to generate deposits.”
