The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the 4th Annual Snack Town Brewfest, sponsored by Snyder’s of Hanover and Utz Quality Foods.

Celebrate Hanover’s rich snack food heritage by pairing tasty treats with local craft beer and wine on Saturday, October 30, 2021 in the Snack Food Capital! Over 30 breweries and wineries will fill Good Field from 12-5 p.m., along with food trucks, music and entertainment, for a day of sips, tastes and fun. The Amish Outlaws are back again for 2021!

Chamber Board of Directors Update: New & Outgoing Board Members

Volunteers Needed for Events

September begins a new fiscal year for the Chamber and during this time our Board of Directors also transitions for the start of the new year. This year we say goodbye and thank you to two outgoing Board members, Mike Gaskins and Kirby Orewiler.

The Chamber appreciates your hard work and dedication to our organization over the years.

The Chamber also is welcoming five new Board members: Liz Johnides, The Markets at Hanover Nikki Hoffman, Stambaugh-Ness Drew Little,Conewago Valley School District Sarah Gebhart, WellSpan Janice Swartz, UPMC Hanover The Chamber is happy to have you join us as Board members and looks forward to the opportunity to work closely together to grow as an organization and to continue to help the business community of the Hanover area.

The Hanover Chamber is seeking volunteers for the Snack Town Brewfest on October 30. Volunteer shifts are available at various times for a wide assortment of tasks, like setup, admission, cleanup and more.

Groups are welcome and encouraged as a great way to promote your business or organization! All volunteers (with organization names) will appear in our newsletter following the events.

Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce Supports the Eisenhower Extension We support the 5C option for the Eisenhower Extension project as it provides the best outcome for the greater Hanover community.

Conewago Township, from where it currently ends at High Street to Hanover Road (SR 116) west of McSherrystown.

We believe the 5C option is the only way to improve the area’s roadway system because it will improve the traffic and roadway system in the community, address traffic congestion, reduce drive times for the area on already heavily congested roadways, improve safety within study area which experiences higher-than-average crash frequency when compared to similar roadways within the Commonwealth

Our Main Street Program has done a great deal to improve the downtown, boosting its charm and preserving its character. A project like what is proposed in the TSM alternative would effectively decimate the downtown corridor by increasing traffic in our historic Center Square. The downtown district’s character would drastically change if the primary arteries were widened to accommodate four lanes of traffic on Carlisle St. The 5C option is the only alternative that will support safer roadways and provide traffic congestion relief in the area.

This project has been studied and supported by local leaders and regional transportation planning organizations for the past 30 years. The Eisenhower Drive Extension Project is located in York and Adams Counties. Eisenhower Drive, SR 94 (Carlisle Street), and SR 116 (Hanover Road, West Elm Street, 3rd Street) are main traffic corridors through McSherrystown, Hanover, Conewago Township, and Penn Township. These roadways are heavily congested, do not move traffic as efficiently as needed, and experience higher-than-average crash frequency when compared to similar roadways within the Commonwealth.

It is our opinion that the TSM Alternative or No Build are not appropriate or safe options for the Hanover Community. The 5C option is the only alternative that will support safer roadways and provide traffic congestion relief in the area. We support the 5C Alternative as the best option to address the current and future needs of the greater Hanover area.

CENTRAL PENN BUSINESS JOURNAL HONORS BROWN SCHULTZ SHERIDAN & FRITZ’S MATT FOX AS A 2021 FORTY UNDER 40 AWARD RECIPIENT

Harrisburg, PA — Matthew S. Fox, CPA, Senior Manager at Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF), was recently named one of Central Penn Business Journal (CPBJ)’s 2021 Forty Under 40 award recipients.

Matt and the other honorees will be recognized at an awards event on Thursday, October 14, at the Hilton Harrisburg.

The Forty Under 40 awards recognize professionals under the age of 40 who are leaders of their organizations, industries and communities based on their professional accomplishments, community service and commitment to inspiring change. The winners are selected each year by an outside panel of judges, some of which are previous Forty Under 40 award winners.

“Matt is a key member of BSSF’s Tax Department and is an incredibly knowledgeable resource for his clients and team members alike,” said Ken Wolfe, President and Managing Principal of BSSF. “Matt also took the initiative to start our Firm’s Craft Beverage Practice and is one of the founding members of our Research & Development Tax Credit Consulting service. When he’s not working with team members or clients, he’s out giving back to the Central Pennsylvania community. As a young professional, Matt’s accomplishments are outstanding, and we are proud and excited to celebrate him and the other honorees at the event in October.”

Matt has over 15 years of public

accounting experience. He leads the Craft Beverage Group at BSSF, specializes in Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit consulting and provides tax planning and preparation services to clients within a variety of industries, including craft beverage, insurance, construction, real estate, manufacturing and financial services.

Additionally, Matt serves as chair of the BSSF Tax Technical Committee and is responsible for communicating tax law changes and providing education and training to BSSF team members, clients and partners.

Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University.

Outside of his professional life, Matt is an avid donor and volunteer with the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), the United Way of the Capital Region, the American Cancer Society and The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) Dream Team. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Harrisburg Area (LHA) Class of 2019.

BARLEY SNYDER PARTNER FABEN NAMED TO FORTY UNDER 40 LIST

Lancaster, Pa. – The Central Penn Business Journal has named Barley Snyder partner Peter Faben to its annual Forty Under 40 list.

Forty Under 40 recognizes professionals 40 years of age and younger who have been successful in the central Pennsylvania area.

Honorees, chosen by the Central

Penn Business Journal editors, were selected based on professional accomplishments, community service and commitment to inspiring change.

“I’m humbled that the Central Penn Business Journal has included me on this prestigious list for 2021,” Faben said. “It’s especially important to me that this is a list that takes into high regard community service and impact.

Congratulations to all of the fellow honorees.”

Faben is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and he has been named a Pennsylvania “Super Lawyers” rising Star in 2019, 2020 and 2021. He is a member of the board of directors at Lancaster-based Advoz, which provides mediation and restorative justice services to the community. At the start of 2021, he was named to the partnership of Barley Snyder, where he practices in the firm’s Litigation and Health Care Groups.

“Peter’s impact on the community, both in his professional work and his volunteer work, has been noticed by the firm for years,” Jeff Lobach, Barley Snyder managing partner, said. “It’s rewarding for him to see that others outside the firm have now taken notice. Peter is very deserving of this honor.”

Thankful for Downtown While the past few years have been a struggle, there is so much that we are thankful for in downtown Hanover. Business owner’s resiliency and strength, continued outdoor dining, and the restart of some of our favorite downtown events to name a few. We want to hear from you what you are thankful for this month! For the entire month of November, Main Street Hanover will be running a fundraiser to raise money to continue supporting downtown recovery efforts and revitalization initiatives in downtown Hanover.

We are thankful for this community, and we know you are too!

Annual Business Awards

Each year, the Hanover Chamber recognizes outstanding local businesses, organizations, and educators at the Business Awards Ceremony.

This year's event, presented by KLK Welding will take place on Monday, November 15th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Location and additional details to follow shortly. Member anniversaries, as well as the Ambassador of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Positive Action Award, and HerTraditions Women's Enrichment Award will be recognized.

Area educators will also be recognized with the Educator of the Year awards.

Eye-Opener Breakfast

Members can nominate themselves, a colleague, or another deserving business for any of the awards. Nomination forms are available online at hanoverchamber.com/business-awards.
