ROCKCLIFFE MANSION

“Take a Step Back in Time” On the National Register of Historic Places.

Take a guided tour of a turn-of-the-century Gilded Age Mansion. Rockcliffe Mansion is a grand residence built on 4 acres and situated on a large limestone bluff overlooking the Mississippi River and the historic town of Hannibal. The home was built between 1898 and 1900 by lumber baron John J. Cruikshank, Jr. With his wife and four daughters, the Cruikshank family lived in “Rock Cliff”, as it was then known, until Mr. Cruikshank’s death in 1924. Rich in architectural detail and decorated in the late Victorian and Art Nouveau styles, most of the original antique furnishings, hardware, lighting and plumbing fixtures are preserved and on display. The Mansion is filled with rich mahogany, oak, and walnut appointments, magnificent Tiffany windows, and the finest interior decorations from America and Europe. After being abandoned for 43 years, and just days before demolition, Rockcliffe Mansion’s 30 rooms were saved and are now on display and open to the public for guided tours. Guided Tours Daily: March 15th – Nov. 15th Tour Hours: First tour begins at 10am Last tour begins at 4pm

B&B accommodations also available! Rockcliffe Mansion invites you to take a guided tour, or to stay overnight, in one of the Midwest’s finest house museums. 573-221-2477 o r 1 - T OM - AND- HUC K
