ABOUT ME
As a nontraditional student, I strive to apply the work ethic and dedication I gained in hospitals, clinics, and fields while serving as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. Working with patients and experts in multiple medical settings revealed the importance of human-centered design, benefiting the overall experience of those utilizing the space. Additionally, I have aspired to create designs that are innovative, unconventional, and inspiring while studying at Texas State University. I am excited to continue my education, gather feedback from my peers and industry professionals, push myself to make exceptional designs, and become a valuable asset to the interior design profession.

WEDDING CHAPEL
Design Development-Fall 2022
For this assignment, students were tasked with designing a wedding chapel that would be built in Dripping Springs, Texas. The inspiration for the chapel was derived from research based on the site.
Limitations: dimensions, single entrance/exit, no artificial light, enclosed space, and site orientation
Similarities between water and love/marriage (Keywords): healing, natural, bond, calm, peaceful, pure, deep, precious
The design this chapel is based on Dripping Spring’s most unique and celebrated resource, water, and its symbolic similarities with love. As water runs freely, deeply, and naturally, so too does the love that bonds marriage. This idea is appropriate for the client be cause the design merges two fundamental elements which relate to the site as well as the occasion. The site will be abstractly represented in the space, reflecting the majestic and natural beauty of Dripping Springs’ environment. To express this analogy between water, love, and the relationship between the ceremonial and natural elements, organic lines, natural flow, and symbolic imagery will be featured throughout space.

FORM & MOVEMENT
Design Development-Fall 2022
Physical Model (Scale: ¼”=1’-0”) Materials include foam core board, bristol paper, trace paper, and clear sheet plastic.

This project is an exploration of form, movement, and circulation through a volume. It is about how inspiration derived from research about a musician can be used as a conceptual design generator to define spatial volumes, sequencing, verticality, path, and place.
As my first multi-story design and physical model, this building was inspired by and created for the vocalist Sam Smith. The first floor is a common area, the second is a performance space, and the third is a private viewing balcony.
