BIOGRAPHIES AHMISA Deeya Patel is a Sophomore in High School. She has been learning Indian Classical dance, Bharatanatyam for the past 10+ years. She is a co-founder of SnD Productions. She has performed in several prestigious venues like United Nations in NY and Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, and was recognized in local TV and newspapers. SnD productions is in the process of collaborating with “Indian Raga”, a famous social media promoting Indian music and dance.

SnD dancers regularly teach dance to underprivileged children. Deeya’s interest extends to art, science and math, robotics and her team has won national level awards in Robotics, and placed nationally in Math. She has placed nationally and regionally at various art competitions.

Sahana Madabhushi is a Sophomore in High School. She has been learning Indian Classical dance, Bharatanatyam for the past 10+ years. She has started SnD Productions with her friends to explore creative ideas and social issues using Bharatanatyam technique. She has won several dance competitions in the U.S and Canada and has performed over 75 shows in the tri-state area, and her dance was recognized in local TV and newspapers. Sahana’s interest extends to other forms like Ballet, hiphop, gymnastics, and figure skating. After spending a summer in Brown University studying Psychology, Sahana is focused on doing scientific research on the Human Brain and abnormal psychology.

Neha Gorthi is an 8th grader. She has been learning bharatanatyam for the past 8 years. She has won several dance competitions and has performed in several prestigious venues in the tri-state area including New York City. Neha has trained extensively from multiple dance teachers from India specializing in various aspects of the artform. In her spare time she does substantial research on the artform to come up with creative ways to form healthy habits and to improve physical conditions for the dancers. Neha loves to dance and she regularly dances at non-profit organizations. She enjoys basketball, badminton and bike riding besides dance. She likes to play Piano and learns Indian classical music.

She volunteers at the local library and senior center regularly.

Medha Anantuni is a 9 year old girl from Austin, TX. She is very passionate about arts. She started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 6 under her guru Smt. Divya Shanker at Divyathrayam School of Dance. She also learns Indian classical music, carnatic music from Sri. Vishaal Sapuram. She learns western violin besides dance and music. She has won several dance and music competitions including the most prestigious Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Saptami and Natya Idol for both classical music and dance. She was selected as the youngest Indian Raga Fellow in contemporary vocals for the year 2017.

She aspires to create an impact on the society with her dance and music.

THREADS OF MEMORY Anu Yadav (Playwright) is a critically-acclaimed writer, performer and theaterbased facilitator dedicated to art and social justice. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and holds an M.F.A. in Performance from University of Maryland, College Park. She was the inaugural 2018 DC Public Library Artist-inResidence and was named a “Person to Watch” in American Theatre Magazine. She is a member of the Actor's Equity Association, the Dramatist's Guild, Network of Ensemble Theaters and the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. She is currently a visiting artist at Beloit College where she teaches theater and social change.

Lauren Modiano (Director) is a Brooklyn-based director and maker of theater and television. Recently, Lauren assistant-directed Inner Voices: Scaffolding (Premieres), served as the script supervisor for Live From Lincoln Center: Stars In Concert Series (PBS) and Great Performances: Uncle Vanya at Hunter College (PBS), and directed the workshop of Tenn, a new musical about the life of Tennessee Williams, for the ASCAP musical theater workshop. Lauren is a recent graduate of Yale University, where she double-majored in American Studies and Theater Studies.

Fauzi Lakh (Rashi) Fauzi relocated from Florida to NYC to pursue acting in her second act. She has enjoyed performing comedy sketches at The Producer's Club, being an ensemble member in a dramatic experimental work at The Public Theatre and working on numerous features and short films. She is excited to be a part of Tamasha Nights and looking forward to working with the Hypokrit Theater Company.

Kannan Menon (Suresh) is an actor, director and playwright. He has been engaged in these works since his teens in Malaysia. He graduated with a B.A. in theater from Catawba College, N.C. and subsequently and M.F.A. from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He also obtained a law degree and practiced as a securities lawyer for over twenty-five years before returning to acting. He has appeared in a number of films and theater pieces, including My Life is My Message, a play about Mahatma Gandhi where he played the lead role. As a playwright his play At A Plank Bridge has been seen at Theater for the New City in New York, in Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia and in Singapore.

Salwa Khan (Meghna) is a Bangladeshi American actress involved in both theater and film. Prior to coming to New York, Salwa had been in community and improv theater in Maryland, Delaware and Philadelphia including Lady Caroline in Enchanted April by Matthew Barber. She has been in lead and supporting roles for short and independent films including Bernard Died by Andrea Massaro and Vilified by Jehanzeb Dar. She is looking forward to finishing up her acting program at Esper Studios this summer and is very excited to be part of the ensemble for Tamasha Nights.

SAHI VAQT PE OR THE ONE WITH THE BIOLOGICAL CLOCK Ankita Raturi | अंिकता रतूड़ी (Director) (she/her/hers) is an NYC-based playwright, poet, deviser, and teaching artist. She grew up in India, America, and Indonesia. Her plays include Another Passage to India, Games We Played As Children, Our House is Haunted (co-created with Charlotte Murray), and akshara. Her first poetry collection, अनुवाद | Anuvaad | Translation, was recently performed at Dixon Place.

Ankita has also developed work at NYU, Natyabharati, New York Shakespeare Exchange, and Corkscrew Theater Festival. Upcoming in February: The Elephant is Very Like at Pete’s Candy Store. 2016/17 Literary/Dramaturgy Fellow at Berkeley Rep. BFA, NYU Tisch/Playwrights Horizons Theater School.

Charlotte Murray (Director) is a New York director and theater maker. You can see a workshop of her devised piece Our House is Haunted at Dixon place in April.

Credits include: Fat Faggot (Dixon Place), Our House is Haunted (Corkscrew Festival), Mary V (Theater for the New City), Political Subversities (The PIT), Out of my Skin (The PIT), Eurydice (PHTS) and Lear (PHTS). She has worked with creators Elena Heyman, Andrew Neisler, Sam Pinkleton, Annie Tippe, Jennifer Morris, Kristine Harunalee, and Tea Alagić. NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Playwrights Horizons Theater School.

Krushika Patankar (Ina) is an aspiring social worker pursuing an MSW at NYU. Social justice and inappropriate humor are her favorite things. After being the first woman to do stand-up comedy in Oman, she is thriving in NYC on a healthy dose of chagrin by creating art in her personal time (exclusively with Ankita) and preparing to be a social justice warrior for a career. Currently, she works with formerly incarcerated adults with serious mental illnesses, conducts research on community integration and plays the diplomat in arguments where people inevitably present their opinions as fact. Because everybody needs to chill.

Rohan Gurbaxani (Shopkeeper) is a recent graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he studied at the Lee Strasberg and Stonestreet Studios.

His previous credits include Anatomy of a Suicide (Robert Moss Theatre) and Stop Kiss (NYU Steinhardt). He is thrilled to be a part of this production!

THE LORD OF WEALTH Jyotsna Hariharan (Playwright) is a writer and playwright from Madurai, India (MFA Dramatic Writing, NYU Tisch '17) with production and marketing experience in TV ("The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore" - Comedy Central, "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee" - TBS) and theater (Theater for the New City, Creative Outlet Dance Theater). Her 2018 Audie Award nominated radio play "Rebuttal" (HarperCollins) is available now on Audible and other streaming services.

J. Mehr Kaur (Director) is a director, producer and curator of live/multimedia performance. Most recently, she directed Queen by Madhuri Shekar at APAC. Next, she will be assistant directing Hatefuck by Rehana Lew Mirza at WP Theater. Mehr is a graduate of Smith College and has been featured as a speaker at the Surat Sikh Conference and the Pluralism Project at Harvard Divinity School. She is a member of the Williamstown Directing Corps, a Directing Fellow at MTC and a recipient of The Samuel A. Eliot, Jr./Julia Heflin Award for Distinguished Directing and Fulbright-Nehru Directing Grant. www.jmehrkaur.com.

Rita Sengupta (Nisha) is an actor and comedian based in Brooklyn. She is passionate about telling intentional stories and uplifting the voices of the underand-misrepresented. She has been featured in Buzzfeed, Glamour Magazine, and A Plus Media. She studied at Atlantic Theater Company and is training at Upright Citizens Brigade. When she’s not performing, she enjoys drinking craft and noncraft beers, running (living in Washington DC turned her into one those people), and reading memoirs about badass women. www.ritasengupta.com Jayraj Gill (Barry) is a new actor who recently moved to New York City. An alumni of the University of Michigan and New York Film Academy, this is his first role in the theatre medium. He had an absolutely amazing experience working with the entire cast. Jayraj is an avid fan of the Indian Film Industry, Bollywood, and strives to someday act in their films. Till date, he has self-directed and starred in many personal projects and remakes on his YouTube channel: The Real One Percent.

GOD IS DEAD Eissa Saeed (Playwright) is a media strategist and playwright whose work employs communication tactics to create narratives that challenge sociopolitical ideas. His play Home Sick, centered around a Muslim-American family reconciling with queerness, was shortlisted for the 2018 Theatre503 Playwriting Award. He is also a screenwriter and a published poet; he is currently developing a feature script as part of the 2019 Qalambaaz Screenwriting Fellowship. By day, Eissa works as an Associate at New Heights Communications, and also with the UNFPA to promote family planning use in Pakistan. He holds a BA from Bennington College and an MA from the George Washington University.

Hannah Lang (Director) is proud to be an artistic associate with Hypokrit, and is a queer theatre-maker and historian living in Brooklyn. She is a recent graduate of St. John’s University, where she earned her M.A. in history after completing a B.A. in History with minors in Musical Theatre and Women’s and Gender Studies. She is most passionate about producing work that uplifts voices of marginalized communities. She most recently assistant directed Molly Houlahan on Hypokrit’s R+J, and has interned at The New Victory Theater, New York Musical Festival, and Honest Accomplice Theatre.

Gabrielle Laurendine (Cal) is an actor and comedian who is so thrilled to be in Seven.11 at Tamasha Nights. She’s a recent graduate of St. John’s University who’s so excited to be showing off her professional acting chops. When not rehearsing or auditioning, you can usually find her rewatching Tony’s performances or binging bad movies. Recent roles include Lucetta/Sir Eglamour/Third Outlaw in Two Gentleman of Verona and Helga Crane in Quicksand.

Philip McLeod (Max) is an all-around entertainer and nightlife act under the name Shirley U. Jest. He was most recently seen in a new staged reading of Mother: a Drag Musical (Dragnes Moorehead). His favorite roles include Claude from Hair, Melchior from Spring Awakening, and Gay Doubleentendre from Showgirls the Musical! in which he made his Off-Broadway debut.

Anna Stacy (Mrs. Kim) is an actor, musician, and medical student who is thrilled to be working with Hypokrit Theatre Company! Recent Credits include Jess in Ugly Lies the Bone (Rites and Reason Theatre), Feste in Twelfth Night (Stages on the Sound), Marc Antony in Julius Caesar (Hamlet Isn’t Dead), Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She is a recent graduate of Brown University and an alum of Shakespeare & Company’s training institute. INDIAN CABARET Shivani Badgi is a New Jersey/New York based dancer with 19 years of experience in multiple disciplines. She began her training in Kathak at the age of five under Guru Padma Khanna at Indianica Academy. She continued at Joffrey Ballet School, Mason Gross School of Arts at Rutgers University, and Broadway Dance Center. She has performed at Alice Tully Hall during the 50th Anniversary of Lincoln Center, Warwick Castle and Island Gardens for the American Alliance of Performing Arts London Invitational, Theatre for the New City in NYC, Philadelphia Museum of Art, NBA Halftime Show, and Times Square Diwali.

Karishma Motwani has been dancing part-time since the age of seven, focusing on Bollywood and Bolly-Fusion styles. Her notable performances include Unicef Gala with Priyanka Chopra, NBA 76ers Halftime Show, and Concert Tour with Mika Singh -- all through her past work with dance companies Exodus Artistry and Diwakar Performing Arts. Now, Karishma is focusing on expanding her knowledge and skill in other dance styles. When she's not dancing, Karishma works full-time in Data Analytics and is an advocate for women's organizations like AnitaB and WomenSpace.

Krishna Suthar started dancing at the age of 4, learning Bharatanatyam and making up dances to everything from Bollywood music to 80s pop to 90s grunge.

She's dabbled in other dance styles including hip-hop, kathak, and bhangra, but her heart is with Bollywood where she can fuse everything together.

Yassmina Bendahud is a recent graduate of Rutgers University who began her dance training in Bhangra at the age of 12 with NYC Bhangra. Since then she's went on to train in Kathak under Guru Archana Joglekar who has supported her and trained her as a teacher at Archana Nrityalaya Dance Academy. Being of middle eastern descent Yassmina's received many opportunities to promote her love for the South Asian arts throughout her community, most recently performing for a small but powerful Indian Classical Community in Haifa, Palestine.

Priya Iyer is thrilled to be working with Hypokrit Theatre Company and returning to Tamasha again! She has been training, dancing, and teaching dance in the NYC area for the past 6 years with companies like Junoon, Pardesi Life Dance Project, Lion Party Films, Sanskruti Dance, Doonya, and more. She is trained in Indian contemporary, Bharatanatyam, musical theatre, ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance.

Ruby Verma's passion for dance started in college when she co-founded Boston University Jalwa in 2004. Since then, she has had the opportunity to work with a diverse set of South Asian companies in the tri-state area, such as Bollywood Axion, Moksha Arts, AATMA Performing Arts, Sanskruti School of Cultural Dance, and Adaa Dance Project. Currently, Ruby serves as an artistic director and choreographer for Junoon Performing Arts, where she curates showcases that focus on the storytelling nature of dance.

THE BIG FAT BROWN SHOW Gautam Gurnani is an Actor, Writer, Poet and an ambitious entrepreneur. Currently working for a health-care company in New York as his day job, he is also establishing his digital content creating company “JokerFace Entertainment”. As the Joker-In-Chief for JFE, they have created various forms of content. JFE’s standard video forum are: Original Narrative based Music Video, Comedy Sketches, Short Films, Web talk show and web music show, and now launching themselves in performing arts scene. Gautam has been closely associated with Hypokrit theater company and was last seen in their two part play “The Music in My Blood”.

JokerFace entertainment is #hatke (Out of the box, Creative thinking) digital content creating company that focuses on developing a wide range of original video products like music videos (narrative - based), comedy sketch, web shows (The Chat and The Jam), short films and now debuting with a performance art piece.

Sam Lerner has played roles in off-broadway theaters and has as acted in several films. She is a co-executive producer/actor at JFE where she has acted in various projects and written scripts for JFE. Sam is excited to be a part of the Big Fat Brown Show tonight and is thankful to her family and friends for their support.

Tanay Paliwal is a Cybersecurity Consultant at one of the Big 4 companies. He is a cinema enthusiast and his interests include singing, writing, and films. Although he considers himself an amateur in most of these areas, he is looking for more avenues to express himself in the creative space.

Ayush Dhurka is a Consultant at one of the Big 4 companies as well. He loves to workout and is very enthusiast towards the craft of acting and directing. He is very excited to be part of the show and is hoping the viewers will have a great time watching the play.

Ayesha Khanna has been a dancer all her life performing at international stages as well as Bollywood movies. A well established choreographer, she is the Founder and Director of Bollywood Funk NYC Dance Company. Ayesha wears multiple hats as an artist and entrepreneur. She is also the Founder of her own Fashion Brand called Naurah USA and the Producer for Dance USA Dance.

Dinesh Reddy is a manager at one of the Big 4 companies as well. He has been part of various dance shows, ad films and short films. Very focused toward growing his skillset as a performer, he joined Bollywood Funk as a dancer and now is very excited and pumped to be part of The Big Fat Brown show.

Aditya Dongre is Risk Consultant by profession and a dancer/actor by passion. He began dancing at the age of 8 and after a break of 15 years, he is very excited to get back to it and perform at multiple events and shows. He has also played pivotal roles at various schools and universities theatrical dramas.

Amitesh Jaiswal is an enthusiast dancer and an actor. His main forte is Bhangra and Bollywood and has performed on various platforms and social events. He works as an Engineer at Bloomberg and is very excited to be a part of The Big Fat Brown Show.

Gorentala Shrikanth has performed in several cultural events from his childhood.

He loves dancing the most and finds it as an escape from the mundane. Lately he has joined a dance groups in NY and is looking forward to perform for the live audience as part of “The Big Fat Brown Show”.

Ashima Arora enjoys various forms of arts, primarily dance. She has been trained in Jazz, Hip Hop and Bollywood and love to express herself through dance. She aspires to grow continuously and improve as a dancer by training and learning from talented individuals.

Ankita Sambhare is a full time Software Developer at Bloomberg with a zeal for dance. She started dancing when she was 4 years old and is trained in Bharatnatyam, Contemporary and Bollywood dance forms. Ankita is super excited to be a part of The Big Fat Brown Show and glad for all the support from friends and family.

Deeksha Bhatnagar is a passionate dancer, an aspiring public relations professional, and an event coordinator was born and raised in India. She is currently pursuing her master’s in public relations and corporate communications from NYU School of Professional Studies. As a dancer, she is creating opportunities to keep her dance passion alive. She has previously danced with Beyond Bollywood, a Bollywood musical production at the APAP Conference 2018. She has even been part of dance videos with BollywoodFunk.

Urvi Gandhi is a Senior analyst at Tiffany & Co, but is a dancer in her spare time.

Urvi has danced her entire life, whether it was for family and friends at a party or with an organized group. She was part of a competitive Garba Raas team while at New York University and has also performed on stage with Dance Bollywood International in Singapore (where she is from!) and with Bollywood Funk NYC in New York. Urvi is very excited to perform tonight in the Big Fat Brown Show and is thankful to her husband, her friends and her dance instructors for their support.

Swati Sharma is a New York based makeup artist who has been featured in online beauty blogs. She has experience with doing glam looks in crunch time for live stage shows. Working full time for a corporate company during the day, and following the passion as an makeup artist the rest of the time is what keeps her going in life.

Brian Litman is an alumni from Ithaca College with a Bachelor's degree in TV and Radio and a Minor in Theater. Brian is not new to the theater scene and has been on and behind the stage since he was little. Some of his credits include Pippin in his high school production of Pippin and Herr Schultz in Cabaret. He has also worked in front and behind the camera with director Gurnani, and contributes to Gurnani’s youtube channel JokerFace Entertainment. This is Brian’s debut as a technical director for the stage and is excited to be a part of this production.

Becca Beberaggi (Host) is a writer, comedian, playwright and singer from New York City. Previously serving as the Comedy Producer and host for Comedy Night at Paste Magazine, Becca has produced various shows in the New York City area including a comedy show at Union Hall called, "So Many Problems" which is listed in Time Out NY's "Best Comedy Shows By Women in NYC”. Becca has been featured in The NYTs and has appeared at The Brooklyn Comedy Festival, The Finger Lakes Comedy Festival, Speak Up, Rise Up and She Makes Me laugh Femme Fest. Her solo show “I laugh To Keep From Crying” received a limited run at The Tank's Off Broadway Theatre Space in February 2018. Time Out NY called it "Heartfelt and very funny, journey to self love."

Joyce Lee (Assistant Stage Manager) is a producing intern with Hypokrit Theatre Company, studying Media, Culture, and Communications at NYU. Hailing from southern California, she hopes to be a part of the process in exploring the intersection of being Asian and queer in theatre and storytelling in general.

Arpita Mukherjee (Artistic Director) is the Artistic Director of Congressional Award winning Hypokrit Theatre Company and the Festival Chair of Tamasha: A South Asian Performing Arts Festival. Upcoming: Eh Dah: Questions for My Father at Next Door @NYTW (Director), Monsoon Wedding The Musical (Book Writer). She is developing work at The Public Theatre, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater and WP Theater. Arpita is a member of the WP Theater 2018-2020 Directors Lab, the 2018 Eugene O’ Neill National Directing Fellow, a member of the 2018 Lincoln Center Directors Lab and a 2018 Jonathan Alper Directing Fellow.

Li Kennedy (Line Producer) is a Scottish NYC-based producer. Recent producing projects include The Making of King Kong (Target Margin), Beloved/Departed (Linked Dance Theatre), Fuck Marry Kill (The New Ohio), KareHouse (Joe’s Pub), Sad Indie Love Song (Fridge Festival), Revel’s End: A Tempest Dance Party (Studio 501), and The Dudley’s! (HERE). Li is also a Creative Producing Fellow at Musical Theatre Factory, Producer of Loading Dock Theatre’s Forklift reading Series, and works in Artistic Programming at the New Victory.

Kyle Rosenberg is a technical director, stage manager, lighting designer, and photographer based in New York City. He currently serves at the Studio Administrator at the Actors Studio. He has worked as the technical director on all of Hypokrit Theatre Company’s productions, which have been featured in a variety of press outlets including New York Times, Theatermania, Stage Buddy, and Playbill. He is also currently an Administrator at The American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba.

Molly Houlahan is a queer theatermaker and director. Her directorial work has been featured at The Araca Project, Castillo Theater, the Habitat, NYTW’s Jonathan Larson Lab, TinyRhino, and The New York International Fringe Festival. Past assistant directing credits include: Songs For A New World (Encores! NYCC), Sweat (The Public, Arena Stage, Oregon Shakespeare Festival), For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday (Playwrights Horizons, Berkeley Rep), Latin History for Morons starring John Leguizamo (Berkeley Rep), Daniel Sullivan’s Macbeth starring Frances McDormand (Berkeley Rep), Mary Zimmerman’s Treasure Island (Berkeley Rep), and Pirates of Penzance (Berkeley Rep).
